Dear NVC community members ! Please vote at a poll about possible NVC' algo change.
Should we change the algo to ASIC-resistant ?
1(Yes)
2(No)

Those who wanna change algo to ASIC-resistant ( and get with that much better/fairly/widely  distributed mining ) must vote furiously to outpace conservative members.
Or otherwise we will not get any change  of algo, or we risk to split community
Welcome: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=911873.0

Today we growth on very good news: first anti-spam solution based on NVC was released for alpha-testing.

P.S: Sorry, but this text was translated automaticaly by http://translate.google.ru from Russian

If it shows the same exponential growth as bitcoin then it could go above $100 as well.

The vote is closed already? I vote "No".

The website www.novacoin.org needs an update. There are some broken links on the website and not even a link to www.novaco.in. The website should also mention that Novacoin was the second PoS/PoW coin next to Peercoin only, because there are so many copycats now.The history of a coin will become more important the more coins there are.
I have no time to make a fresh Novacoin-website myself unfortunately.

How about setting up a bounty for a fresh website? I would spend some of my Novacoins for that.

I can't follow the Russian thread because I don't speak Russian.

No, vote isn't closed yet.

// Voted "no".

Client update 0.5.1 is planned for the next week. There are many fixes for various issues, so applying this update will be recommended for everyone.

Seems I can't vote because I am still Newbie.

I appreciate very much your work Balthazar in updating Novacoin-qt.

After some years when people realize how robust and well-distributed Novacoin has become, I am sure we will see a revival of the coin's value. I think history of a coin will become more important.

Novacoin 0.5.1 has been published.

  • Qt: Stake minting tab now is updated correctly when new blocks are generated;
  • Qt: Fix for segmentation fault on OS X;
  • Core: Entropy security fix in the STUN module;
  • Core: Prevent issues related to validation of non-canonical signatures by new versions of OpenSSL;
  • Core: Show block index type in the version info;
  • Core: Add new DNS seeding server;
  • Core: Use fixed size integer types for critical structures, get rid of uint64/int64 in favor of standard uint64_t/int64_t;
  • RPC: Add addnode command;
  • RPC: Add getaddednodeinfo command;
  • RPC: Add removeaddress RPC call;
  • Core: Fix forced %llx format to prevent msvcrt compatibility issues;
  • Core: Log reason for non-standard transaction rejection;
  • Core: Increase IsStandard() scriptSig length to 1650 bytes, improve redeemscript sanity checkings;
  • Core: Pregenerated table of stake entropy bits for blocks before #9689;
  • Core: Check block signature only if there are no suitable checkpoints in checkpoints.cpp.

... and some other minor fixes, including platform-specific ones like this.

If you're using one of these platforms

  • Linux (x86, x86_64);
  • Windows (x86, x86_64);
  • Mac OS X

then binary builds are available at sourceforge:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files/novacoin-0.5.1/

Official Windows binaries are signed with our certificate.

You can also build your own binaries from source code:

https://github.com/novacoin-project/novacoin

Note that it's recommended to apply this update in case if you're using own dinamically linked binaries, oitherwise new versions of OpenSSL able to break your client:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=919373.0

If you're using official binaries, with notorious exception for FreeBSD, then your installation isn't affected by this issue.

P.S. FreeBSD and Linux ARM binaries are coming soon.

Neither novacoin-0.5.1-ubuntu-amd64 nor novacoin-0.5.1-bdb-ubuntu-amd64 work for me on Ubuntu 14.04:

Quote
./novacoin-qt: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by ./novacoin-qt)

Those builds were linked with glibcxx 3.4.20, so there are some pretty expectable compatibility issues.

P.S. Ubuntu builds were removed from sourceforge. Try "*-debian-*" builds instead, those should work in your system.

Tor hidden nodes were started:

Code:
seedp4knqnoei57u.onion
seedr3hhlepyi7fd.onion
seed3uuomkclbiz4.onion
seedeh7qck3ouff5.onion
seedt3sraf53ajiy.onion
seedg4qyccsg42oq.onion
novaqrtoywpg7jly.onion
seed3d5wolqbgrcb.onion

You can connect to these nodes through Tor client:

./novacoin-qt -proxy=127.0.0.1:9050 -onlynet=tor -connect=seedp4knqnoei57u.onion -connect=seedr3hhlepyi7fd.onion -connect=seed3uuomkclbiz4.onion

Where 127.0.0.1:9050 is an IP address and port of your tor client instance.

If you wish to start your own Tor hidden node then consider reading an official page which describes configuration of hidden service functionality:

https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-hidden-service.html.en
