True. I've seen it on other coins Seems like my node is lagging somehow maybe?
I think that there is no problem with your node. Such strange timestamp may appear when somebody with wrong time settings is lucky enough to generate new block.

Hi Balthazar, The Neucoin developer has described an attack on Peercoin and on Peercoin-clones that have got a constant stake modifier. Only Peercoin's central checkpointing prevents the attack. https://de.scribd.com/doc/260113453/Preprogrammed-attackIt is being discussed on Peercointalk.org. Basically, an attacker can make use of the predictability of finding a stake*, resend his coins to himself again and again until he has enough stakes that will stake in a certain time window in the future. In that time window the attacker can then execute a double-spend. Neucoin uses a floating stake modifier like Blackcoin to prevent this attack. Can you please consider changeing Novacoin to a floating stake modifier? I know that Novacoin utilizes also PoW for blockchain security but it could still be a problem. *There is even a tool for Peercoin called Findstake.

Hi, Rakete4. It is true that current proof-of-stake difficulty isn't sufficient to achieve "unconditional" security. That's why we're using proof-of-work mining in pair with proof-of-stake. It's enough to deal with possible stake issues. In fact there is a thought that built-in stake miner should be modified to provide findstake-like functionality for all users without exceptions. This point of view can be reconsidered but that can be a sufficient solution which won't require any protocol changes. Another way is forced recalculation of stake modifier, which seems good but impossible without protocol update.

Hi Balthazar:) I know that the forced recalculation of stake modifier would require a protocol update, so the decision needs to be well thought. It could be implemented later if a hardfork becomes necessary for other, more urgent reasons. Also, I do not want to interfere with your plans for Novacoin, just wanted to get sure that you are aware of the discussion, since I can not follow the Russian thread. I am not a programmer, and I don't know how much weight the Proof-of-work component has got in Novacoin in determining the best chain. I would advise against providing a findstake-like functionality for all users, at least at this moment, because people should buy more Novacoin if they can't wait to mint a block. Coins are so cheap now. The functionality will only be needed when the price will be back up where it was.

just wanted to get sure that you are aware of the discussion Thank you for contribution. Of course, somebody may disagree with such approach due to ideological reasons but in my opinion system works as it was expected. There are no security issues because it's impossible to predict stake modifier value for input which is younger than one week. Dynamic modifier could seem more reliable but actually it won't prevent the big holder from generation of consequent blocks simply because proof-of-stake system doesn't consume energy. Energy efficience allows attacker to have virtually unlimited amount of attack attempts and it doesn't matter how we're calculating the modifier or weight... Only his share matters. It will make his life a bit more difficult but he still will be able to do the trick. That's why it is necessary to make the difficulty as high as possible, the same is correct for the network weight... Greater amout of users leads to better security.

Win32 testing builds were updated. http://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files/novacoin-test/novacoin-test-v0.5.2-160.7z/downloadv0.5.2-160 provides scaninput RPC call, it allows you to scan supplied input for sufficient kernel solution. There are also some minor fixes and internal cleanups. If you had any issues with Tor configuration then this build may be helpful for you. P.S. Any bug reports would be appreciated.

Awesome! When can we expect a public release of this? We already have some builds published by fsb4000. https://yadi.sk/d/XO-QV_ZZfUdJG (android x86) https://yadi.sk/d/kBXl88l4fgbf6 (android armv7) These builds are working well and can be installed by regular user without any issues. However, packages are pretty old so rebuilding from the current source tree is planned.

Just wanted to let everyone in here know about our dedicated staking hardware. Save electricity, and increase your coin's security, get them off of your home computer, and onto the StakeBox. Check it out at stakebox.com. Go ahead, get your long term support cred, buy the device meant to stake your coins for the long haul. Seems expensive for a staker. Half price and even better: http://blockchaintechs.com/And they even have a contest going. (only 3 days left!!) You can win a free staker for as little as 1 entry. Super cheap, as you can grab some for only 900 satoshi right now!!!! http://contest.blockchaintechs.com/that guy is a scam.. he doesnt even pay his loan on btcjam is the pool list up to date?
