since this topic still appears to be active until now although it is posted for almost a year ago, maybe I can share my opinion . well if bitcoin is more popular than bitcoin then why does the US dollar still taking the lead of being more used in many countries and only a few people has been informed about the cryptocurrencies especially bitcoin . it has a potential to be used for a convenient transaction all over the world but the mass population still have no idea about it and I guess they would still choose USD over bitcoin as long as those people still aren't well informed .

It seems that you meant to say more popular than the US dollar, right? But who is actually claiming that? I don't remember that I've never seen anyone say something like that. Obviously, if we take the whole world the US dollar will by far surpass Bitcoin in popularity. That said, we still can't deny the possibility that in some places Bitcoin could be more popular than the US dollar. Ultimately, some people may not consider the US dollar as a currency at all (while many others don't consider Bitcoin as such altogether). And so what?

Obviously, USD is more popular than Bitcoin. USD is here for like forever but bitcoin came in 2009. Bitcoin is still expanding.

Yes, the US dollar is more popular because it is regulated by the state and was invented earlier. But bitcoin has every chance to replace it, only time is needed.

The fiat payment has included on the oldest payment method, no doubt if they're all still existing right now.
But can you give me a reason how bitcoin can replace the dollar, in another side The US securities is ignoring the door for bitcoin to enter in the US. it's not about a time but the permission by the government.

That is true, we need goverment permission but the thing is, more people uses bitcoin - bigger influence they have on specific country.
It will take a really long time to see any kind of fiat replacement by bitcoin, but it is not needed. It is more like a dream of some crypto users.

Bitcoin is a bad thing for US now because the US dark market is mostly hidden in bitcoin transactions.
Why would anyone pay 60,000$ for murder in cash, when he can do everything online, without meeting the guy who is supposed to complete the task?
Same thing with big amount of drugs or any illegal items.
Bitcoin is better also to hide your dirty money, you can just transfer them on some wallet and never touch them right?

It will take years for bitcoin  to be as purpular as dollars even if the whole  world adopt it today as a currency. Bitcoin  may in future more than dollars in value because of inflation and control . Bitcoin is decentralized and because of this many people are using it  for investment and keeping the assets were there have control over.

Basically what you're trying to say is that bitcoins is not the best cryptocurrency to replace the fiat because it has transparent records. I don't even know a coin that doesn't have transparent records. We're all about that in the cryptoworld. This is different from fiat where the government can do hidden transactions.

For me, that's actually the best reason as to why a cryptocurrency should replace fiat. So we know what's the government doing with the taxes that they collected. That way, we can easily track where the taxes are going. It's actually the other way around. They are not going to let bitcoin replace fiat because they will be tracked and not because it will be easier to track us. Even though of course, they would love to track every single individual.

Anyway, whatever you intentions might be, I don't think that you can pay over Internet to kill anyone. I remember some dude tried something like that, and he was quickly caught by the police. Further, why would the guy who is supposed to do the task accept the risks of you being the police themselves? Apart from that, I always thought that the majority of Bitcoin users are using Bitcoin due to its economic merits (speculation, store of value, and such things), not because they were trying to evade the government control by exploiting its features that provide (pseudo)anonymity. This is a nice bonus but no more than that

I have to agree with you there. 10 years wont be enough to overtake fiat and it would take more than a few decades in ever it even does. We all believe in btc and we're hoping for the best with it but realistically i don't see btc even coming close to dollar's popularity

I have to agree with you there. 10 years wont be enough to overtake fiat and it would take more than a few decades in ever it even does. We all believe in btc and we're hoping for the best with it but realistically i don't see btc even coming close to dollar's popularity

It looks like we live in very interesting times (though I'm curious if people of all times and nations didn't think the same in their times as well), we don't know for certain what will happen to humanity in 10 year period with all those advances in biosciences and computer technologies. Regarding Bitcoin, more specifically, I think that with the introduction of instant payments we might see a run-away adoption of Bitcoin across the world. Ironically, though, that won't necessarily lead to a run-away price. But I'm also utterly curious if anyone will read this post and then ask me why

And you easily discard all other fiat currencies existing in the world (such as Euro, Chinese Yuan, Swiss franc and over 100 hundred of them)? Should I thus conclude that these currencies couldn't exist without the US dollar either since otherwise how could the Bitcoin price be ever quoted in them too if they didn't depend on the US dollar in absolutely the same degree (i.e. completely) as Bitcoin depends on the US dollar (according to your logic)? Do you confirm that all these fiat currencies can't exist without the US dollar by their side?

It'sprime reason is bitcoin being virtual and decentralised currency in the world. It is being used by many countries and not just by country which support USD. On top of that it is even popular than any other currencies. (Well more popular than USD of course). More often it is exchanged from USD to Bitcoins for ease of use. It is most secure currency due to its complex nature and AI. I am pretty sure it will be more popular in the future as well. :-)

Bitcoin can never outshine USD on it's popularity. Bitcoin isn't even known by everyone and some people even thinks that bitcoin is a illegal because of deepweb. Bitcoin's price maybe high but people are looking for the value of them based on Fiat money such as USD.

Unless countries does support and recognize bitcoin and altcoins as currencies bitcoin will never reach any similiar status as dollars, even if bitcoin is worthing 10000 dollars unit, the simple fact of restrictions and limitations dont make the bitcoin a worlwide currency, something dollars is already.
