This smells fishy.

You should check their curriculum. They look serious to me.

Will be watching this.

the people behind it are trustworthy in my opinion. they're well known and active in the BitShares community for years

I purchased some with Bitcoin and they have been 'pending' now for like 2 hours. Also, it doesn't seem like the 'available' amount is decreasing. Any ideas?

My name is Michael Maloney, and I am the communications director for Peerplays. You can contact me via PM on the bitsharestalk.org forum @CryptoPrometheus.

This morning, Jonathan Baha’i and I held a live Q & A session session with several guests on the weekly Beyond Bitcoin hangout conference call hosted by Justin Fondriest (aka. fuzzy).

Here is the podcast:
https://soundcloud.com/beyond-bitcoin-hangouts/e153-2016-05-6-fuzzy-friends-peerplays-lauch-party-steem-openpos

Our presentation lasted about an hour, starting at 15:25, but I recommend listening to the entire call. Daniel Larimer founder of BitShares and lead developer of Steem, and Ken Code of Open POS also gave very interesting updates about their projects.

Right now, we are putting together regular a podcast schedule for updates and to answer questions in live discussion just as we did this morning - more information on that soon. In the meantime, the "official" channel for Peerplays announcements and project discussion will take place on www.steemit.com, a brand new fully blockchain-based forum and social media platform built on Graphene - the same consensus and smart contract technology used by BitShares and Peerplays. Steemit.com is a web wallet with API access to the STEEM blockchain, and Peerplays posts and discussion can be viewed and edited and uploaded to the blockchain at www.steemit.com/trending/peerplays.

That's all for now - more updates soon,

Michael

How secure is this platform? When I registered on the Peerplays site, my registration password that I chose was sent back to me in the "Peerplays Member Area" welcome email. This would seem to NOT be a best security practice. Sad

yep

Quote
In the explainer video we talk about the numerous opportunities this network is going to provide. From referring other users, to hosting your own tournaments. The network core token holders also will be given direct profit shares of all the fees generated within the network. Basically the same as the FBA.

It's for you records and does this by default. Our crowdfund members area has no links or associations with your PEERPLAYS tokens. Worse case someone somehow gets your password and starts placing orders that they never pay for under your email address.

We are accepting only BTC and bitUSD, both of which have no links to our members area for contributors. The only time it matters is to show proof of contribution which is kept in triplicate once you have completed it and your tokens have been processed after we verify the donation.

** UPDATE **

Yesterday we opened up our crowdfund and had a great response!

We ran into a few technical issues with our funding platform however that only became apparent after we started.

We had an intermitent issue with the email server we were using. We have since taken measures to fix this and have resent out payment confirmations to everyone who paid in, but still have their orders marked 'pending'.

Because some people were not getting their email confirmations this lead to a fair amount of confusion because essential instructions on token delivery were contained in those emails.

We have also noticed some are submitting orders and then not completing their payment process. We are using coinbase API interface that allows you to pay either directly with your coinbase account or bitcoin. It gives you 15 minutes to send something to chain to confirm your payment, after that you need to start your payment process over again. Some seemed to find this process confusing.

With these issues we are going to generate more content dedicated to our contribution process to make it easier for everyone.

In the meantime people have taken advantage of our live support and ticketing system to get their issues resolved with our help. Some have taken advantage of being able to reach us directly to get direct information on the project.

Also, we launched while our designer was still not finished our offer site. There is still some more tweaking, but if you go to www.peerplays.com you can now see our developer mockup we are working with in development of Peerplays that illustrates just some of the features.

That's all for now... this launch was really for those paying attention to take advantage of the low starting price. Now over the coming week we will be rolling out new announcements and updates. If you haven't gotten your PEERPLAYS yet, it's a good time to consider doing so before we move into the $3 phase.

Again.. check out the updated www.peerplays.com

If anyone is interested in hearing the technical side of what they are doing they go quite in depth here on the team and the software:

I don't think many people are sold on the fact that you are who you say are. Would you post a picture of your faces (especially lead dev) and a piece of paper with your handle on it? Neil's linkdin doesn't even mention this project. Awesome idea, unfortunately it looks fishy. If you provide more clarification I would love to be involved. This is a very basic verification method in our space and the response I got from Jonathan was that the team is very camera shy, but he will see what he can do. If you would like involvement of my HARD EARNED MONEY, grow up and take a picture. VERY FISHY

Hello bkeenan,

Jonathan, myself, Dan and Fabian have been active and respected members of the BitShares community for almost 2 years. You welcome to PM any of us on bitSharestalk.org, or go to the BitShares forums and ask around the community if you need further verification of our identities or involvement in the project. My handle is @CryptoPrometheus, Jonathan is @BunkerChainLabs, Dan is @dannotestein and Fabian is @xeroc.  If you are unaware of BitShares, we average over $100,000 daily trading volume and have been in the top 10 on coinmarketcap since 2014.

Also, if you would like to listen to us interacting in a Live Q & A session with longstanding members of the Bitshares community, including the founder and lead developer of BitShares, we had a conference call yesterday morning with about 30 people. Here is the podcast of that call:
https://soundcloud.com/beyond-bitcoin-hangouts/e153-2016-05-6-fuzzy-friends-peerplays-lauch-party-steem-openpos

I suspect that some of your apprehension comes from the fact that Jonathan and my bitcointalk IDs are brand new, which is understandable. Neither of us have been active in the bitcoin community until now. I hope this clarifies any confusion.
