Don't expect too high price from halving but If you really want to earn profits then you need to hold your coins till the end of the year as price will go higher after halving.

If he earned 12 BTC through hard work (and that means slowly building up that amount of money) I don't think he will be willing to gamble, because he should know how hard owning 12 BTC is in 2016.
I think investing (after extensive research) is more reasonable than to rely on 100% luck.

I would keep the first half (6 Bitcoins) and would invest the second half into promising blockchain (ICO) projects. I do not know if you expect particular options but projects like IOTA, DAOHub, Lisk or WAVES are very promising. Of course, I would spread the investments. Those (bockchain) projects belong the future and those are more interesting for companies and enterprises than Bitcoin alone in my opinion .

You need to be careful while gambling, as if its not your day then you can loose everything in one shot, so I would prefer to stay away from gambling.

Okay. People are suggesting that you wait for the halving = not-so-good of an advice.

I suggest you invest quite a good amount of time researching in how to properly run a good gambling/casino with bitcoins, as well as with faucets. If you are able to pull it off, I'm pretty sure you'll see in the profits in no time.

Although you can leave some in your wallet, like may 10-20% of your btc (1BTC - 2BTC) in hopes that the halving will increase the value of bitcoin.

I initially bought .5 BTC thru Coinbase, then I hit a jackspot thru gambling website so now I have 12 BTC. I want to be safer now though, I know I cannot count on hitting jackpots.

Unless bitcoin's userbase becomes larger, bitcoin will not double in price. It simply won't be sustainable. If it doubled every halving, think about the price after the last halving, in 2140.

Hype is mostly over by now. Halving hype is not that big and not enough either. The biggest hype was in 2013 (Gox Hype) and it was actually a scam. No more hypes after that. As long as bitcoin don't reach more people it will stay @ 400-450$ and i am being optimistic here. It will probably go down to 390$'s first. And if there won't be a new hype 300$'s won't be too far away.

And don't expect btc/1000$ for another 10 years if we see another huge dump. Because people gonna lose hope in bitcoin. What we gonna see maybe Satoshi will buy his own coins in order to lure people in again but i don't think that will work again.

Its nice to observe fake growth, but fake growth and those can happen again at anytime, if an exchange decides to say "fuck it".

Its deferent year ago if you see after block halving is 50% increased this year they are different because bitcoin users are increased so it means the price after block halving will be increased into 100%..

Just hold it for now and wait for the price to rise as others speculated this coming halving. Dont come back into gambling for now as you will lose at the end.
