That's true better to stay away from gambling to keep your bitcoin safe in long run, you can trade with it grow your coins or the best option is to save it for future.

Keep half your btc with you for a backup if you loose you btc and rest of the btc you can use or invest in trading because the best thing where you invest your money is trading. It is the safest way and you don't have chance to loose your btc as in gambling.

I think you should save one-third of your total money and invest two-third of it. Now divide your two-third share in 10 equal parts and invest at 10 different places like altcoins, bank roll of some gambling site etc. Never invest all of your money at one single place, it is very risky.

If i were you and held 12 bitcoins and you can afford not to spend them/cash them out then why not just hold them until you get to retirement age. They may have dropped down to nothing at all or maybe you will be able to retire comfortably with a few quids worth of bitcoin to prop you up.

There is always people lending money, but you will have to prove them that you are trustworthy, use escrow and have collateral.

As Funbarrel said,you can trying trading cryptocurrencies,i like poloniex for that purpose,it is very handful and the withdrawal system is very good.
They provide you a way to trade btcusd but you can also trade almost all cryptocurriencies that exist's are are not scamcoins.
