Cryptocommoner and I were talking about names for quantities of 42-coin for p2p. Something like an:

'Oh One' (0.01) = about $US 550 (to about a thousand when the price is up)

'Oh Oh One' (0.001) = about $US 55 (to about a hundred . . . )

EDIT: withdrawal on Cryptopia came through in seconds

Thanks for posting this.  I meant to get around to it.

The rationale behind why I/we are pushing for a standard term is simply due to the fact that one coin is just too much to fathom or think about in terms of cost.  By breaking it down, it gives way to possibly opening the door to a greater number of investors to bring the volume up overall.

We kicked around the idea of dividing it further, but this makes the most sense to me.

Should be as any other coin:

1) have a minimum amount
2) some X hours have to pass to start
3) wait

There are only 42 'shares' and they are all mined at this point.  What are you considering as a share?

I would shoot @Lasergun a PM to ask specifics, but he posted these two links last time somebody asked about where their coins were.

PoW miners gather tx fees from transactions as a reward because their work is more energy intensive, PoS miners destroy tx fees - create deflation and make the remaining coins more rare and valuable.

Have deleted my incorrect info. And so pleased to be getting closer to understanding 42.

The name of the coin is very special, and the ideas and ideas are also unique. I have seen the smallest coin in the total.

Hello!

My first post also!

Love the idea, as if just for me, found it through pure abstract thinking, have great vibe about it!

How hard is it to actually be a PoW miner for 42 coin? More importantly what would eventually happen with the number of coins? Would they reach 0.00000001 coins in total from the initial supply of 42? On a sidenote, how does one become a node?

My vote on the fee would be: a) expected growth of transactions in next year - vote stay at current
                                           b) expected growth of transactions in 5 years - vote change to higher fee

Welcome, Ucicha. Others will advise on becoming a miner.

A little bit of answer, courtesy of Laser:

'PoW miners gather tx fees from transactions as a reward because their work is more energy intensive.'

And: 'More importantly what would eventually happen with the number of coins?'

Well, ultimately, it's about the divisibility of each coin: a crypto's units can be divided into a very large number of sun-units. With Bitcoin, for example, it's one hundred million sub-units.

So -- as I understand it -- 42-Coin is deflationary: there is, slowly, less and less of it, which makes each unit more valuable.

But are we going to run out of 42? No. There are a range of options; but more importantly, the problem is a century away.

How hard is it to actually be a PoW miner for 42 coin?

All depend on difficulty... With 2-5 Mh/s @ current difficulty (3-7) you will find the blocks on regular basis.

Would they reach 0.00000001 coins in total from the initial supply of 42?

Yes, with the current deflation this will happen after 1 838 825 years.

On a sidenote, how does one become a node?

You need to open port #4242 for incoming connections and keep your wallet online 24/7.

My vote on the fee would be: a) expected growth of transactions in next year - vote stay at current
                                           b) expected growth of transactions in 5 years - vote change to higher fee

Thanks.
With the current tx fees and 42 price PoW-miners do not have any financial motivation to mine/secure the network, everything is based on enthusiasm and altruism.
