You are correct. Since most of the transactions with bitcoin are done with anonymity, it would be hard to establish a clear demographic or statistics for its user's profiles. But to make a rough estimate, I think most of the users are in their 20s up to early or mid 40s.

From being here for a while now and reading many posts i would have guessed that the average age was far lower than 20 =p.  If i was to guess on how old many of the early adopters were i would guess in 30s to 40s or older, possibly a few younger but majority above 30. I think the average age of Bitcoin users is  25 - 50.  In my country people who are financially stable are those that buy Bitcoin and that is around 28 above.  Since Bitcoin were largely introduced by MLM company here like OneCoin, Bitclub, LeoCoin etc., mostly mlm people are the one adopted BITCOIN here and the average age of people involved with MLM are around 25 above.

This is a good question, I have always thought it to be between 20 - 40ish age range but then kids nowadays are even more into tech then we ever were as it is more readily available, for example gaming is a huge domain where I think a lot of the younger ones will come across bitcoin as it is related in a sense technology being technology.

Since bitcoin is the currency of the internet the most appropiate age should be 22-35 , I personally am part of this range as I think this is the generation who started out with windows 95 and now we are at Windows 10 so we have been through a lot and it means we are more prone to embrace bitcoin than other age generation.

I think that the average age of the bitcoin user changes over time, and not just because people are also aging over time...LOL....The common USER is probably a younger type person who is technologically competent who is interested in the project,while the common INVESTOR is probably an older type of person who has money saved which they are willing to invest.   Add to those demographics the common MERCHANT who probably lies somewhere in between the other two.  In the beginning the average user was probably those from the first group, followed by those in the second, and then culminating in the addition of those in the third group.

Depends how different people look at this from both sides. If you are 20 years old, you might think people from 30 to 40 years are old, and when you 40 years old, you look at these 20 year old people, and you think of them as youngsters. Age is just a number and in no way a benchmark for anything.

Since the bitcoins are not so old and is a new technology most of the users of bitcoins are also young. Bitcoin are not something to be used by old peoples as they old people dont take the change easily.

Well, that doesn't always have to be the case. I know some older people who like techology and are willing to try new things. And that is good, people shouldn't have fear from the new tehnologija. But in general, yes, the majority are junger people. I think 20-35 is the average age.

In the same time a lot of them have heard of people getting rich in the previous years and see btc as an opportunity to make more money. i do not think that the average age of bitcoin users is between 20 to 30 because in 20 to 26 year of age most of the boys or girls have not  yest completed their studies, therefore they have not such an extra time to give to bitcoin or to any other such kind of forum, to me the average age of the bitcoin users will be 30 to 40 because in such age people mostly grew up so mature and they have their full attention toward earning money therefore thy find news jobs, business or any other source of earning money, and that is the reason that i am sure that the average age of bitcoin users will be between 30 to 40.

My Friends in facebook ranges from 13 to 40 years old and bitcoin users for more than a year. Some adolescent are much well-versed in bitcoin investment and earning bitcoins than me. Very interesting poll, I was thinking about it recently about how many old people around me doesn`t have wish to learn about new things, for them bitcoin and internet, is since fiction. Only when new generations come we can expect bitcoin to gain more popularity. In my experience, most Bitcoin users that I talked to were either has the same age as me (around 18 years old) or somebody who already has a family to support. Unlike in online games, never have I seen people younger than me in this place. I might've stumbled upon some of them, but all of them are just in the newbie phase and never get out of that phase. I don't think there is a certain age for Bitcoin users.
In my opinion it is more about having an interest for technology.
There are lots of guys in crypto space who are older than 30 years!
That's why I believe the actual younger, early 20s generation, is not definitely the majority of users.

Maybe because people now even teenagers know what bitcoin can do to our selves.  Those kids who were under 18 years old were exposed to bitcoin since they use it for games and make them realize that they can earn through it.  So they uses it to buy for game cards or even give them some extra income.  As long as anyone can understand how to use a computer and what bitcoin can do, everyone is allowed to use it.

I don't think there are good statistics for this, because many of use are and like to stay anonymous. But it's no secret that most users are young, to very young. And it that regard it is safe to say that bitcoin today is a young mans game.

Im only 23 years old and im a college graduat but I find bitcoin as my job not just extra job . In fact im earninf more money in bitcoin rather than my job. I think that many ages are already involved. I am 19 but people I know who use Bitcoin are around 50, actually, whereas many people of my age are aware of Bitcoin but never actually used them in the real life. My guess, based on the actual people which use Bitcoin in my country, is that average Age of Bitcoin users is between 20 and 15 years old.
I know some friends, bTC users, who are even under 18.

True, in my country teens know about bitcoin a bit through television but they don't use it at all. As long as you can't buy booze when youre underage with btc I think it will stay that way

I think we are seeing a wider range of people using bitcoin. I am 50 myself and was using it since 2011 but then it was more basement nerdy and mostly men. Now I see a lot more women involved and older peeps in their mid forties and fifties using it so it's becoming more mainstream than hip and trendy now which is a good thing.

The range 22 - 30 age group comprises of 46.2% and if you lower to 20 and upto 40 years old, I think almost one third of the people are on the average users. It means that the younger generations are the one mostly adapting the new technology susch as electronic currency like bitcoin. the bitcoin users are usually younger people but i don't think there is much people in the range of 30 to 40 because the older you get the more real world usage you want out of things and bitcoin can not really satisfy that so it becomes harder to use bitcoin and pay for your family at the same time.

There are people who really started using bitcoin at that age, Including me but I started when I was 15 years old years ago. Based on my experience in using bitcoin, I think the average age if bitcoiners is in the age 20-25. I have joined many groups on facebook that is about bitcoin, altcoin trading and stuff. Among those who is in the group, Most of them were in the age of 20-25 and only 1/4 of the group are in the age bracket of 25-35.

Based on observation, I think the average age of bitcoin users is less than 30 years old. Above 30 years old people already have a good day job and are too busy with their own family. I would say that most users are in the age range of 20-30. These are the people that have had a lot of exposure to technology and are a bit smarter in that region. People that are older are more sceptical about investing in an online currency and would rather stick to the things that they are used to such as gold and shares. 20-30 year olds are either in college or are just starting in their first job. College students do not spend all the time in their lives studying. Most of them just procrastinates and are busy in their social lives. College students are lazy by their nature (because of their age) and they have a lot of spare time. I know this as a fact as I'm a college student as well.

20-30 year olds that are just starting in their jobs don't need to use all their time just thinking about job and whatnot. Most of them just work for 8 hours a day and the rest of their day are just use for whatever they want. That makes them have another 8 hours of a day free.

30-40 year old people already have a family and they have to spend all of their time watching their kids, doing chores, going to their job, etc. They're too busy to do bitcoins unless they're unemployed.

Why you are stopping him to use bitcoin if he need money and are earning it from home then we do not have to stop him to earn but if someone is going to support him financially in all of his matters then he is allowed to stop him. In the Philippines, my country, the youngest bitcoin earning users I know ranges from 14 yrs old to 70 yrs old. These teenagers are the one who taught me how to use signature campaigns, they even earning thousand from trading.  I am catching up to them but they have already learned systematic and strategic ways in earning bitcoins, I am just a newbie and I hope to earn at least 1 to 2 btc monthly.

These teenagers are the one who taught me how to use signature campaigns, they even earning thousand from trading.  I am catching up to them but they have already learned systematic and strategic ways in earning bitcoins, I am just a newbie and I hope to earn at least 1 to 2 btc monthly.

That is great, I don't have anyone close to me using bitcoin, you have a great advantage so use it, learn form those youngsters everything they know, and start earning like them, since you are in the Philippines I assume that earning a few thousands is a great salary there, so don't miss the opportunity.

But, I must confess, most bitcoin users, the ones I know, are much younger than me.
I'm sure that once Bitcoin becomes mainstream, we will see many more older generation here.

May be the most people who  use bitcoin are youth and the most new people is the same. So I think in the futue bitcoin will be used by young and old people.

I would like to tell you since we are living on the same country. Making 1 to 2 btc monthly is really hard to reach even those veteran members here on bitcoin world still having the hard time to reach those goals and same as yours im still a newbie on this matter and still searching for other ways to earn even more. Regarding on the age range of people using here in our country would be same as yours.

Average age of a bitcoin user for me is about 22-30 years old. I think that way since first of all, many who are older than that I think is somewhat not interested in using a crypto currency. Also, the average age of those who are frequently in a bitcoin related fb groups are about 22-30 and only a few of those whose age is 31 above uses bitcoin. That's why I think the average age of a bitcoin user is 22-30.

Im thinking the same thing too on which this age gap has the most users involve on bitcoin because they could easily understand about the features and benefits of bitcoin but still i could able to see some people who are older which also uses bitcoin which is a good thing that even old people still interested into bitcoin.

Here i think the life experience does not count as it is a fully technology working and if you take on that age most of them are not so tech savvy, so i think the age is between 20 to 35, as they are fully tech savy and know more about technology and its uses.

I suspect you're more interested in the median age of bitcoin users (or at least I would be) and from my own interaction with users, they do seem to range quite greatly from just below 20 to over 40. A simple average age could take the figure to around 30, but I think the highest frequency is in the late 20s to early 30s.

As to who might be the ones using it most to its potential, I can't say. What was/is Satoshi's age?

I vote for 31-40, because bitcoin is some kind of investment or property (mostly user bode it for now).
People need money to buy it and average age of them are 31-40 for sure, people below 31 are earlier adopter group and don't have so much money to buy it and/or less bitcoin on their wallet.

You are forgetting the older age of the people who are using bitcoin. I speculate that the half of the population of bitcoin users are aging 30-50 years old. Because they are the ones who are looking for some profitable things and 20's are all busy enjoying the pleasures of this world. Even though there are only few of them gets interested to bitcoin.

On the topic of age, I don't think that the average age of posters in this forum represent the average age of Bitcoin users. That's because a lot of users have left the forum because the forum has pretty much turn to signature spam junk. These users are still actively using Bitcoin ... they are just not logging on to the forum anymore.
