Satoshi and Hal Finney are great people. I'm glad that I got acquainted with this story. I'm sorry that this illness happened to Hal Finney. Now I know about him and will remember him. The creators of Bitcoin provided an opportunity to make money for people and improve their lives. This is a great blessing. After all, many could not get what they now have even if they would have dedicated 20 hours a day to work. I'm sorry that I learned about Bitcoin so late and did not have time and I can not do it. However, thanks to these people, I have a hope that was not there before! I am grateful to these people, at least for the hope that I now have! Thank you!

Rest in peace , Hal.
I just read this thread after going through the history of bitcoin.
I wish I had the opportunity to interact with satoshi and you on this forum, but that day will never come now.
Thanks for all your work.
Don't be so sure, Satoshi is probably still alive and can come back at anytime, and there's an extremely tiny possibility that Hal Finney might be revived in the distant future. Oh my!!!!! I know that nothing is 100%, but what are the odds of both of those things happening? Being able to interact in the future (let's say within 10 years) with both Satoshi and Hal Finney at the same time... first of all they would have to NOT be the same person, and both be capable of interacting in some kind of meaningful way. Therefore, I would place such odds at less than .0001%. But definitely respects to the life changing and innovative contributions of both to this crypto-space - whether had been the same physical person or not. Hal will be missed I think Satoshi is still alive and well, and enjoying the fact that he will be able to split his bitcoins into Bitcoin Cash/Segwit1x/2x/Bitcoin Gold and probably more when more forks happen. Satoshi is going to be the richest person in history, while personally he owns about 1 million Bitcoin, he currently is worth about 8 to 9 Billion USD when you add in the forked coins. All it takes is for bitcoin to be worth 1 million each and he becomes a trillionaire. At 100k each he has 100 Billion + altcoins from hf would add up to another 20 billion maybe by that time.

I think that we can both speculate about Satoshi and also give considerable respects to the contributions of Hal Finney, without going too far astray from the topic of this thread. The more that I consider the matter of Satoshi, the more likely it seems that "he" was not just one person, and it seems quite likely that there is some Satoshi in Hal Finney that died with Hal Finney - meaning that whatever knowledge that Hal Finney had about Satoshi may NOT have been communicated to other living persons who could tell the story - and I suppose that there are other ways to communicate messages, too. And, I suppose, also, that there are a lot of us who are going to have differing opinions about what we believe to have been Satoshi and the extent to which Hal Finney was a part of that identity. Maybe, also, some day, evidence and/or disclosures will be made more clear in order to resolve some of the discrepancies and speculation regarding who was (or is) Satoshi, and the extent to which Hal Finney should be included in such evidentiary resolutions?

1) Self-Custody is a right. There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

His son and daughter are millionaires if not billionaires, if they have kept their thousands of Bitcoins, I couldn't follow up on the few months ago and events related to Hal's account coming back to life, I don't know if it was one of his family members or some body hacked his account.
People like him are very rare, true and honest. I am really sorry for this community to lose such a brilliant asset. I have a feeling that Satoshi is also dead for real, he has never spent even one BTC. if he was alive he could have at least send a transaction from earliest blocks anonymously.
Steve Jobs, Hal Finney, Satoshi Nakamoto, Adolf Hitler rest in peace except the last one.

Nice reading this on this great "time machine."
It's strange his account became active March this year (2017) whereas he passed away 2014.. Probably accessed by his family? All the early developers of Bitcoin are great people. You gave humanity the best gift ever.

Thank you Hal for the Wonderful work . Relaxation in serenity.
His work on openPGP ( https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4880 ) was amazing ... but things that still freak me out ( in a good sense ) is something like .. blood hell ... I was thinking about Intel's Minix power management stuff at the moment ...

Sad to see one of the early adopters and pioneers Hal Finney could not see the massive growth of bitcoin today.
He was part of a revolution and beginning of a new era...
Rest in peace Hal

Respect sir, Wish I had known a bit earlier about Bitcoin would reach such levels. I used to play WoW where I had got 1000 bitcoin wallet credentials in exchange for an account, I had no idea what this is so I saved the details on my yahoo account. fast forward to 2016 and bitcoin is everywhere in news, suddenly I realize I had it too. I log in to my yahoo mail account and boom.... it has no data, as It was inactive for years, so yahoo guys deleted all the data to save their server costs. I just wish. Cant buy bitcoins now Its out of reach
