Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Would be cool if a dev created Halcoin (HAL).
A straight SHA256 coin with a pre-mine that is donated to the ALS organisation http://www.alsa.org/ before the ANN in the hope that the coin may be worth something when it hits the exchanges, making some money for them when they cash in.
The first pump and dump coin with positive outcomes, and in memory of Hals influence in this niche.
