"Bitcoin has the appearance of being decentralized and so impossible to change that people cannot even push through an increase in block size. While it may be true that Bitcoin is difficult to change, it is much easier to shut down. The Bitcoin network requires hash power and therefore electricity worth $1M per day. Without this hash power and electricity the network simply stops." https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@dantheman/who-really-controls-bitcoin$1M per day yeah that gravity will eventually take hold there might be a new top, but that means a harder fall on the way down. SMARTest thing for btc is to go hard southernly hit $450 and rebound to a nice static $600-$500 channel for 10 years [reality] likely see slow bear drift for 2 years, then bull 1 for year,... repeat but half the time ... stability this route is under $400/btc (because most supporters burn out in these long market cycles. 00000000000 https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@drkarl/in-the-midst-of-indian-demonetization "On a personal note, when the move was announced I had 10000 rupees in my pocket that essentially became worthless. Not only was it a bizarre feeling to have all your money drained away through no fault of your own, it gave me a rare insight into the massive importance of confidence in a monetary system. It doesn’t matter what you trade in, be it pebbles, sticks, gold or government issued paper the whole exchange relies on the recipient accepting the trading instrument because he knows he can spend it elsewhere. If he isn’t able to spend it elsewhere, he will not be willing to accept it. In one fell swoop, the government eroded that trust in the system. I believe this will have deep implications on a conscious or subconscious level in the psyche of the Indian public in the future. "

'In one fell swoop, the government eroded that trust in the system.' And here we go again! 'Maduro said the 100-bolivar bill [the largest] will be taken out of circulation on Wednesday and Venezuelans will have 10 days after that to exchange those notes at the central bank.' http://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-economy-idUSKBN140115

no need to read past the 1st line ...
"Venezuela, mired in an economic crisis and facing the world's highest inflation, will pull its largest bill, worth two U.S. cents on the black market, from circulation this week ahead of introducing new higher-value notes, President Nicolas Maduro said on Sunday."

@ B.N.:
'i would have no problem earmarking 5% of my stack just for persons of the female kind to show up and get UN for active participation in whatever ... perhaps more science projects ?
and for the kids:
a) grants in UN for math/science geniuses b) like to support a +Billion count coin with UN to be used as 'game' rewards'
You are welcome to use this thread as a base for such a project, and more detail, please, on the '+Billion count coin.'

We gotta have a little fun along the way . . . ' . . . supporters of Maduro's socialist party circulated drawings on social media of criminals trying to smuggle cash into Venezuela like drugs.' http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-12/total-chaos-venezuela-shuts-colombia-border-after-banning-largest-denomination-billAre you s****ing me? drawings? What? a little stick-figure mafia guy? sneaking across the border by night with swag of bank-notes over his/her shoulder? Were they wearing those natty little eye-masks like Zorro? like the Beagle Boys? [Doesn't a single comrade of the local Communist Party own a smartphone with a camera? Couldn't get a picture?]

re: more detail, please, on the '+Billion count coin'
sorry can't be specific yet. but the goal is to find a +Billion count coin /or coins that can be underwritten by UNO. there are half a dozen candidates, and i will announce once i feel comfortable with numbers to push for a joint venture.
The goal would then become utilizing the high coin count to broadcast via a faucet like reward system.
I am keen on 'active learning' games, and kids naturally gravitate towards games, so it would be nice to provide real money credits for them. But the idea is a big one so multi-faceted and not limited to just game credits.

Morning, B.N. I think I'm enthusiastic about this. Scaleability is the new black. Us IMZ guys have already discussed how you could keep Uno as the low-volume 'vault' instrument while using other blockchains to 'absorb' high transaction volumes. 'Underwritten' spooks me -- that's a peg. But 'two projects running in parallel in one community' -- which is what DVC was intended to be -- is wonderful.

Uno-Ag Price-TrackerD L Ex: Proud sponsors of Uno's Sydney node https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-count?timespan=1yearAnd trading here? We're back in business if Uno's price holds steady. There's 100 Uno -- tee hee, a 'C-Uno' -- available at .00225 per. That's a good price. You'd have to push up to around .0024 in order to pick up 100 Uno on Bittrex or Cryptopia. Noo Policy though: if no one buys these bulk lots in a week or so, I'll sell them on Bittrex. In order to provide volume. And then buy more bulk lots.

re: 'Underwritten' spooks me -- that's a peg.
Yes. That's why I am cautious before promoting. I need to know with certainty that I have the requisite reserves to do the underwrit.
No not exactly a peg. But a public pledge that a baseline of support or buyer of last resort exists. The coin would still float at free market.

'The web of trust protocol was first described by Phil Zimmermann in 1992, in the manual for PGP version 2.0: As time goes on, you will accumulate keys from other people that you may want to designate as trusted introducers. Everyone else will each choose their own trusted introducers. And everyone will gradually accumulate and distribute with their key a collection of certifying signatures from other people, with the expectation that anyone receiving it will trust at least one or two of the signatures. This will cause the emergence of a decentralized fault-tolerant web of confidence for all public keys.' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Good_PrivacySome one recently used the word 'naive' to describe the D L Ex. But with PGP and physical meetups, we'll have, within a decade, a global OTC network of great profitability.
