Hey Aries... have you purchased any MSI 470s lately? The one I got from Amazon a couple of weeks ago has Samsung memory and the previous 8 I own all have Hynix. This made me stop short of 1500-strap-modding that newest card since I wasn't sure if memory brand would have any impact on this modding process. So, my question is, for you or anyone else that is strap-modding their 470's with the method used below shown by Lee... has anyone performed this same mod with a newer 470 that has Samsung memory in it? Just trying to figure out if something different needs to be done for these or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP_zSP2H6ho

For the Hynix gpu's I use the 1500 strap, but with the new Samsung memory I strap the 1750. This works perfectly for me. Remember your steps in the video and save all of your original memory values in a file just in case you need them in the future. I do watch Lee with IMineBlocks and have a lot of respect for his work.

Gotta love the fact that the $400 of poker winnings I sent to my Coinbase BTC wallet a few weeks back is now worth over $600. Unfortunately, now kicking my self that I didn't send more winnings to BTC at that time, but who knew, right? This is also the first day in the ~6 months that I have been in this that all 9 of the coins I hold are up in the last 24 hours... and all but 1 (XRP) is up 10% or more lol. I only wish I had more significant holdings but can't have everything, right?

I had heard that 1750 strap mentioned elsewhere but much better to get the confirmation from and expert like you before trying it. Out of curiosity, would this apply to all 470's with Samsung memory or just the MSI? Reason I ask is that I have 1 Sapphire Nitro 470 8GB OC that also has Samsung memory and I have been hesitant to mod the bios on it as well. Totally agree on Lee and his videos... really good stuff and I have learned a lot from watching them. He is also quick to respond to any questions, which is really cool.

Sapphire Nitro's are a WHOLE different beast. Do not strap these the same way. They went from Hynix to Elpida, but I did not know they went to Samsung. Since I started I have only had about 6 of these Sapphires and downloaded straps from other people. Here is the guy "Cryptomined" I learned how to strap the Sapphires from: https://youtu.be/vt9G_rfRVqoHope this helps.

Here is the guy "Cryptomined" I learned how to strap the Sapphires from: https://youtu.be/vt9G_rfRVqoHope this helps. Are you happy with the sapphire nitro ? i heard they were very good Thanks Aries! that 1750 strap seems to have done the trick for my 1 MSI 470 with Samsung memory. I switched over to ETH on that rig (mainly cuz of XMR 9.6 being unstable but also to get the hash-rate by card) and that Samsung MSI is right in line with the other 4 MSI speed wise. I don't think I will mess with modding the Nitro right now as there seems to be some debate as to how best to mod it with Samsung memory. As to my happiness with that Nitro... if I could do it over, I would rather have had another MSI 470 4GB. Firstly, that Nitro 8GB cost me $40 more. In addition, as mentioned above, it is proving to be much more challenging to mod the bios... so as it stands, it cost me about 20% more than an MSI 4GB and is getting about 15% less hash-rate... not to mention sucking more power. Granted, if I can get a good bios mod in it won't be as bad, but somehow I doubt I will ever make up for that extra cost. It would have to hash 33 on ETH to be proportionally as good as the MSI 4GB, and there is now way that is going to happen. I bought this card on a recommendation from another thread when I was still very new to mining... before Aries and others helped me maximize effectiveness of my MSI's. I was very frustrated back then with getting low 20's on those MSI's so kind of jumped the gun with the hopes of getting a better card.

Does the z270 do more than 4 GPUs? I read that there are 4 more PCIE lanes, but they're for the X3D cache

Phil, that's a good price for the 550w. I've been watching the 1200w prices for over a month and they are ridiculously high. Amazon had it for $160 for a while but now it can't be found anywhere for less than $185! I am kicking myself for not buying 2 when they were on sale for $120 a few weeks back.
Anyway, this good price on the 550w got me thinking... what potential issues would there be in running a 6-GPU rig off of 2 of these? Wattage wise, it could easily be done on XMR and while a bit closer, could probably mine ETH too with enough headroom. But, not sure what concerns there would be with running a rig off 2 separate PSUs. Could PSU #1 run the mobo and 2 GPUs, and GPU #2 run the other 5 GPUs?

Does the z270 do more than 4 GPUs? I read that there are 4 more PCIE lanes, but they're for the X3D cache I am short parts to fully test that. but now that I know the trick pandaMinder does to change a non enterprise windows ten into an enterprise ten I will be test that in the next two weeks. @ GabryRox the price is great really great sale ends today. If you wire and setup correctly it can be done 2 plus to one board. be careful @m1n1gP4d4w4n yeah we do get really good prices in the USA at times. The z270 board is up and running! I have 1 rx 470 and 1 rx 460 running in it. doing eth the board is pretty has nice leds How to Upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise Rather than messing with DISM, you can do this entirely from Windows 10’s Settings app. To do so, open the Settings app from your Start menu, select “Update & Security,” and select “Activation.” Click the “Change Product Key” button here. You’ll be asked to enter a new product key. If you have a legitimate Windows 10 Enterprise product key, you can enter it now. But if you don’t, grab the KMS client setup key for Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 will automatically convert itself to a Windows 10 Enterprise system. Remember, as this isn’t an valid key for activation, the resulting Windows 10 system won’t activate with Microsoft’s activation servers online. You may not want to do this on your primary Windows system. Here’s the key you’ll need to enter for Windows 10 Enterprise: NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43 I have a source for Windows 10 Enterprise key that is legit. So by the end of the day this board should have a Working windows 10 enterprise. If it works and does more then 4 cards I will buy the legit key. It is now a Windows 10 Enterprise I have 30 days to activate it. This is allowable with any windows 10 . After 30 days you need to activate it. I will need a few days to get all parts to test this mobo and cpu I have an intel i5-7500 The aorus z270 k5 by gigabyte. stock intel cooler 1 stick of ram 1 1tb ssd sandisk edge 1 silverstone 700 watt titanium 1 msi rx 470 1 visiontek rx 460 I fucked up with a riser I got it in the mail and did not remember where I purchased it. it worked great It had a six pin pcie jack for power. not those shit 4 pin power jacks. I used a few weeks and rearranged all my gear for the panda miner So I sold a psu to generalt and he asked me if I had a riser So I tossed it in and never did the review of duh moron me. I will post more on it but I am asking generalt does it still work well?

So, i didn't end up pulling the trigger on those 2 x 550w PSUs. It was going to cost $140 for 1100w vs the 1200w single unit, which yes, now costs $180 but has been as low as $160 recently and $120 a little longer out. I just didn't want to hassle with a 2-PSU setup for what would probably be a nominal savings. So... still on the lookout for a good deal on a 1200w unit, I found this Rosewill Capstone G Series at NewEgg for $100 after $10 rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182361&cm_re=rosewill_1200w-_-17-182-361-_-ProductThis at least appears to be very similar to the Quark Plat Series, with the exception of course of the 2% difference in power efficiency, but was wondering if anyone on this thread had used this series (in any wattage). In addition, the Capstone seems to be semi-modular, but with only the 24-pin connector permanently connected, so probably no issue there. Otherwise, seems to have the same # of cables/connectors as the Quark. This still puts me 1 molex cable short, but hopefully can find a work-around for that. If i do my math right, the incremental electricity cost for Gold vs Plat is only $2/month, so ROI wise, this would be a no-brainer vs the $180 (or even $160) Quark version. But, wondering if there are any other differences that I am not catching.
