5th post. Today I've spend many hours reading this forum before registering, and now I've got to read for 4 more, before I can post in the appropriate section. Oh well, there's plenty of interesting stuff here.

We really need a new forum software. But shall it really be a "forum"?

It is a shame that something like this is necessary. If people could be trusted, or bots were not spamming forums, I imagine this would not be necessary. We have to live in the real world and accept that sometimes we need to jump through the hoops to stop the bots and spammers. Thank you for providing the forum in the first place.

So what prevents somebody from spamming a massive thread like this 5 times doing:
+1
and then just leaving their account logged in for 4 hours while they sleep or something?

Logged in time doesn't work like that.

Logged in time doesn't work like that. There is a time out then? I have been logged in over an hour and just having the site in the bg while I surf another site.

I don't know what the number is but you can't just leave this open in the background and get your hours that way. The whole point is so you read about bitcoin before going everywhere else on the forum and act retarded.

I just had a pointless post deleted so I guess the mods crack down on pointless posting. That would stop a lot of it I guess if they monitor these threads closely (which it seems they do given that my post was up less than 5 minutes).

I was just "logged" off right after his post even though I was just responding in another thread. *shrug*

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies). If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic. Also: - Newbies cannot upload their own avatars. - You must have made one post in order to send PMs. - You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature. Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.) It sucks being a newb!!
