It would be nice if i can figure out how to install the agama wallet on linux.

Downloaded the agama .run file but nothing happens .
I'm searching at this moment for a solution ,but seems there's no guide for linux and the terminal gave me a " Syntax error: "(" unexpected " -error

To install .run programs on Linux use the following commands:

Code:
chmod +x AgamaApp-xxxx.run

sudo ./AgamaApp-xxxx.run

But there is an issue for some users where nothing happens at all, this happened to me as well and it's not yet clear which  missing package is the culprit. It is reported that using a .deb installer works, but I don't know where to find a .deb installer for the latest version. Try asking to support on the website form!

The missing package(s) must be one or more of these: build-essential pkg-config libcurl3-gnutls-dev libc6-dev libevent-dev m4 g++-multilib autoconf libtool ncurses-dev unzip git python zlib1g-dev wget bsdmainutils automake libboost-all-dev libssl-dev libprotobuf-dev protobuf-compiler libqt4-dev libqrencode-dev libdb++-dev

I installed them all and the problem was solved.

I just had the answer from the Agama developer, if you have issues with the .run installer try the following:

Code:
apt-get install libc6-i386 libgconf-2-4

This should fix it

It's hard to watch other coins pump while kmd stays relatively neutral. Its day will come, and those who remained patient and continue to show support for this path blazing technology will be rewarded, handsomely.   Cool

I downloaded agama from https://komodoplatform.com/en/downloads

The above commands work just fine to load and run agama in the current live linux mint !!!

Question1 .
Why is there no litemode for ltc or bch?

Question 2. Am I correct in that I only need to keep my seed backup in order to repeat use agama in litemode? Obviously I'd rather run a live linux cd and use agama in litemode. (install time was only about 20 min, most of the time was dl the zerocash params)

edit. I really like the icon for agama. looks really nice.

Answer 1: Lite mode (SPV) will be activated for more coins as we move forward. Many are available on the latest version.

Answer 2: You are correct. You only need the seed when using litemode since you don't generate change addresses. That means one seed one address. When you use native you need to backup your wallet.dat and privkeys because you can generate change addresses when you spend inputs.

people prefer x20 pump and dump and not x3 - x5 stable growth :[

in my opinion stable growth is much better because

1) in the long run the stable growth is a lot bigger most of the times
2) its more reliable for big investments

so remember lucky llama
KMD is reliable for big investments and keeps growing slowly and steady...
and if you find it funny that KMD didnt grow that much compare to other coins, you may not understand some basic stuff

Some people also forget KMD was going for $0.10 in February. We've had about a 100x increase in price this year. I'd say that's already pretty significant.  If KMD did the same thing in 2018, it'll be close to $1000 per coin.  Probably not likely, but if people were to expect the same performance or better, that's about where the price would have to be at end of 2018. Personally, I wouldn't mind a "humble" 5-10x increase in 2018, which is more likely.

Komodo has gone a long way and honestly the core architecture is impressive but.... Im getting impatient now as to where and when the first dICO would happen. I mean the original date was Nov 10 2017. New year is fast approaching and all the dev are saying is GUI related issues. Monaize team is ready and marketing side is already in full battle gear. Hope by next week there will be a new development.

Unfortunately I agree. When dIco was postponed we were told it was going to be for a short while and I honestly thought we were talking about 2 weeks tops. I might not understand or appreciate how much work you guys are putting into the project but going from almost launching the ICO to postponing for 2 months and still counting without any comfortable news is pretty disturbing.

Edit: Did my first atomic swaps today between chips and kmd but im wondering how Barterdex will be able to decide price between different coins and when charts will go live?

most of the current prices are using the autoprice coinmarketcap mode, which lets you specify a proft margin and it uses the current coin market cap prices for the trading pair.

it can be done via GUI

it isnt perfect, but for most all cases it gets a decent price for both sides. Of course, each user is free to set any different price but if you just want a set it and forget it mode, that is available and my guess is a lot of liquidity can be created via this method.

Zero footprint 2-way replay protection

Last year I was invited to the bitcoin fork slack and the need for 2-way replay protection was made pretty clear by the ETC release that didnt have replay protection.

I wanted to come up with a method that was efficient and easy to implement and I believe I suceeded. Last summer, I made a post to steemit about it:

https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@jl777/bitcoin-spinoff-fork-how-to-make-a-clean-fork-without-any-replay-attack-and-no-blockchain-visible-changes

BCH had a different method that increased the txsize in parallel with the sighash_forkid method for a while, where it was optional. But in the end they decided to require the sighash_forkid. Their implementation added a twist to it by using segwit non-malleable signatures for the forkid path, but the concept is the same.

The key idea is quite simple. In order to make 2-way replay protection work, the signature for the new fork is made incompatible for any other fork. Since the signature is not compatible, it will also reject valid signatures from other forks.

The way to achieve this requires to understand a bit about the bitcoin signing internals. Actually, just one thing. The signature doesnt actually sign the raw tx bytes, but rather a 256-bit hash. this hash is created based on the rawtx, but it is converted in complex ways. however, it isnt needed to understand the exact conversions, just that the hash is unique for the rawtx. My sighash_forkid method changes some bytes in the data that generates the hash based solely on what blockchain it is coming from.

It is like adding a brandname to the prehash data and this allows the creation of 2-way replay protection, but actually it is far more, it is 2-way protection against all prior forks!

Now the BCH code is out there, BTG gold was able to implement it with just adding a BTG specific forkid #define. SBTC made a string concatenation of "sbtc" to the prehash data to the original signing path and would be the simplest to emulate.

For barterDEX, I want to support as many bitcoin forks as possible and if they are providing 2-way replay protection we will do our best to add support. However, if the tx format is bloated and some additional output or opcode is needed (for every tx!) to avoid replay protection, this is an unfortunate choice as it not only bloats the blockchain with every tx for something that didnt have to, it also wont be compatible with barterDEX atomic swap code.

If in doubt as to what magic values to use, a bitcoin fork project can contact us as we will necessarily be monitoring and maintaining a bitcoin fork compatibility list. Also, I believe the days of simple btc clone forks having much value will be coming to an end. just like altcoins used to just be pure clones without any unique new features and it was sufficient, but nowadays an altcoin must have its own unique features, so it will be for bitcoin forks.

How does the swap for bitcoindark go? Will you get an equal mount of KMD or an equal amount of KMD by the mid range price?
