What's the sense of using it if you know that it will be illegal, the marketplace would look like a dark market, and for sure it won't be easy to use it and convert it to fiat...There is too little use for bitcoin if you can't use it openly... Perhaps I won't be using it anymore...  Smiley

if i didn't know about bitcoin, meaning it was the first time i hear about it and also hear it is illegal to use it, surely i wouldn't go near it.

but at this point nothing can stop me from using bitcoin because i love bitcoin, and i find it really useful. besides there are always ways to use bitcoin without anybody even knowing it Cheesy

Nope, If there are jail time involved, I would not use it. I have a family and a full time job to think of and no technology is worth the risk to go to jail and lose all of that. I would be one of the voices going up against laws like this, but I would never endanger my family.

The bitcoins I own now, would be send to friends in other countries where bitcoin is legal in exchange for legal fiat currencies. ^smile^

These would  be the best way on redirecting  your bitcoin on  other  friends  which country doesnt ban bitcoin and you could still able to benefit from all your  bitcoin in terms  of cash. As  you said  i wont risk  myself hence  i have  already  family  and  i wont like  to leave them  because  im being  imprisoned.

Nope, I'd definitely stop using bitcoin. If that would bring me to jail, then I think it's useless to earn bitcoin if you would just use the money for your bail and after all you'll still go to jail later on. But if the punishment will just be confiscating your bitcoin, then I think it's just fine, I can hide it and if they still found it, then fine, I'll let them have it.

I personally try to stick to it, even when bitcoin is made illegal with various regulations. Something similar to vpn breaker exists, which would help avoid the noticing of usage. Now possibly such situation won't arise in my country.

It is really obvious that if it's illegal of course you wouldn't do it. Maybe some people will do it, those people who have enough guts to do illegal activities like what you're saying. If you're still a sane person, I'm sure you will not do this kind of act because your life might be the at risk when you do this.

Yes i have to use bitcoin till i sell all my bitcoin. I don't have much in my wallet but how much I have is my own earning and I can't afford to loss my bitcoin. and I also have many small small business like faucet and bitcoin giveaway subscription so before leaving bitcoin I have to stop all my business otherwise bitcoin would continuously come in my wallet and all those amount would go waste because i am no longer going to use bitcoin.

If bitcoin was made illegal I would most definitely still use it cause I don't like people telling me which currency I can use and can not for their own profit.
Anyways bitcoin is pretty anonymous so if I'd handle it discretely nobody would have to find out.

If Bitcoin was made illegal by your government and the punishment was very bad, would you still use it, would you still openly support it?

I would say yes, because i have no other ways to earn money and the money i'm earning through bitcoin have changed my life already, if government bans it and someone finds me using it i would probably ask them to give me money when i'm sitting at home and then i wont be using it anymore, thats it.

Definitely not as i dont want a conflict. I dont want to be in jail, it would be bring me shame as well as to my family. We know in our area as a good family. No one has a bad habit. I'd rather choose leaving the oppurtunity of bitcoin than getting into jail and bring shame to my family.

Why would I use something illegal? That makes me a criminal, I would rather wait for the country to legalize it using it again.

Yes, I would still use it but I will only use computers located outside of my country to store and transact the bitcoins. I would avoid transactions with people from my own country. At some point I will give up my citizenship and move to a free country where bitcoins are not illegal.

If Government in my country makes bitcoin illegal then there is no point in using them as if I get caught then people around me will start thinking that I am involved into some criminal activities which will spoil my image in society.

the punishment part is a little bit scary!
what kind of punishment are we talking about, so far i have not yet seen any country to have that big a punishment for using bitcoin (or maybe i have not seen it).
anyways, i think i will think twice before using bitcoin, and it is possible to hide tracks when using bitcoin so i guess i will continue using it.

and once you're moved, and the free country you moved to suddenly also puts all kinds of restrictions (ban) regarding bitcoin usage, will you move again? in my case, i would simply rent myself a vps and do my bitcoin related stuff from there.

In my country, the law is very strict. If my government really made Bitcoin illegal, I have to say, unfortunately, I will have to throw away all my Bitcoin and stay away from Bitcoin. I might join some other Altcoins if they only ban Bitcoin and not all the cryptocurrencies.

However, I do not think my government will make Bitcoin illegal because my country is a tech-savvy country. To add on, there is good (sometimes bad but mostly positive) news about Bitcoin in the local newspaper every now and then. I live in Singapore.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.
