People going to jail for mining BTC
https://reason.com/archives/2016/11/28/the-secret-dangerous-world-of

this is what government crackdown on bitcoin can look like. It's not illegal but you can be jailed for mining it.

No, I wouldn't. At least not openly or not as I frequent as I use it now.
I'm not gonna risk being jailed just so I could use Bitcoin. Maybe occasional checks on investments.

If however, I was able to make a LOT of money with bitcoin, then I'd use that and certainly move overseas where my bitcoins would be welcome.  Grin Grin

If it will be banned by the government, then we have no other choice but to keep it a secret or if we can't keep it as secret, then time to move to other place where it is openly used. If it is being banned by majority of the country, the price would slowly decrease, not everyone is ready to get jailed because of bitcoin. Everyone I think is just being practical.

That's a good idea that you will move to other place where bitcoin is legal. But I guess you can just use bitcoin whenever you want even the government prohibits it. Because there are some other ways when you can keep it confidential and just don't let others know that you are in bitcoin or else you will hold the bars of the jail.
If you really devote your life with bitcoin you will have to make that decision to continue your journey in the bitcoin world. Some countries currently are making bitcoin illegal but I believe it will not last the moment they realize that there more benefits of suing bitcoin that it's weaknesses.

I wouldn't because I don't want to be involved in such things that can affect me in some way, so I prefer not doing that but a lot of people would. Why? Because they simply do not want to have their rights taken away or they are criminals or something. Bitcoin doesn't affect the economy of our countries in any way for now, it can be easily implemented in lur system (but that would make everything way less anonymous).
Well then I guess I'm opposite to you, if the government ever banned bitcoin, I would keep using it and fight for its right. I think it's because I'm not the kind of people that easily accept the rules without any explanations and aren't consistent in thoughts. And bitcoin has somehow become a major part in my life so I wouldn't give up on bitcoin that fast  Grin
I too will try at my level best to continue but this matter most probably will target imposing taxes. I am always glad to pay taxes to my country because government need some income so they are getting that in the form of taxes.

If they declare as illegal and not just taxes means, I will keep saving bitcoins and I may migrate to bitcoin friendly country.

That is a good point too, if someone really knows he is doing a work which can be continued and guaranteed and he is earning good enough bitcoins with that then he could move to somewhere else where bitcoin is not illegal and he could keep using it there.

i think that it depends what is the punishment of using bitcoin.
For example if i would buy a PC with btc ( through blockchain payment ) and i would get 2 years for it then welll... obviously...

I thought about it for some time. It is a very tough question, isn't it? If 90% of your life savings are in Bitcoin, will you be willing to give them up? I don't know the answer.... It will depend upon the probability of getting caught...

Hm, that would depend on what would the consecuences be, but I don't think I'd be risking a fine or some jail time over a bitcoin. I mean, I'd probably try to earn it in some way, staying low, but I don't think I'd be exchanging it or buying anything online with it.

I think I'd give up on bitcoin if it was made illegal in my country, unleast untill the ban is lifted or I move to the country where the bitcoin is legal.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Bitcoin does represent people, and we are free to choose what we wanna, and speak as long it doesnt offends the other person. I dont like some rules and restriction about what you can do with fiat, that makes bitcoin more and more atractive, i wont stop using bitcoin because the politicians say its a problematic currencie or ponzi.

funny how they use ponzi scheme on the things they disagree with.  If you look at the trading industry, it is one big ponzi scheme.  People buy the stock, then sell it to another people in a higher price.  The first person will get his profit from the second person and so on. That is trading with profit.  Isn't it a big ponzi scheme itself?  Why not address the trading as a whole and not point in Bitcoin only.

Code:
Pon·zi scheme
ˈpänzē ˌskēm/
noun
a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first
investors from money invested by later investors.

Not really if you buy stock for X price and then that business grows and you sell for 2 times what you paid then you are obtaining profit because the business grew and became more valuable, even though the one buying your stock is the one handing the money to you your profits came form the growing of the business.

No, more of a Prohibition just moves it underground and doesn't stop it. Also gives the state a pretext to control your wealth. Just posting here may in the future give the Gov cause to search your home and computers.

All the more reason it's psycho to get on a public forum and say anything other than you would immediately stop using Bitcoin if your government told you too, right.  Wink

There are special treatment programs for alcoholics like AA. Maybe I should start a BA treatment program. LOL

All the more reason it's psycho to get on a public forum and say anything other than you would immediately stop using Bitcoin if your government told you too, right.  Wink

Everything will be very difficult for the Government, because it was decided in the Government have some things that are definitely there in the bitcoin. But the Government also won't benefit greatly if using bitcoin, because they certainly wouldn't be able to attract a fee or tax in the bitcoin by automated means. But it all depends on the creators of the bitcoin, if the creators of the bitcoin appeared and took over may be different

Way too late for me.

No, more of a Prohibition just moves it underground and doesn't stop it. Also gives the state a pretext to control your wealth. Just posting here may in the future give the Gov cause to search your home and computers.

I disagree yes voters realize this would be a prohibition like alcohol was in the US in the 1930 and POT is now. outlawed but millions use it anyway.

The poll so far shows 63.3% of forum members have some sort of cognitive dissonance psychosis.

Really? Are you saying you're dependent/addicted to Bitcoin like a drug?
