I tried the pool for 48 hours on scrypt mutliport and have to say I'm very disappointed with the performance.  The pool website is great except the worker notification is kind of lacking.  The problem seems to be stales/rejects.  I was averaging 8-12% stales depending on the rig (irrespective of Linux/Windows and geographic location since I'm mining in 3 US states) whereas I was always getting less than 1% stales at most other major pools.  My DOGE coin earnings (pretty much the only coin mined) were less in BTC value than what I would have earned at other LTC pools sadly.

I wish you luck on the pool but the stale rate needs some work before I would consider throwing my farm back at it.

Your DOGE earnings lookd lower because the price was dropping all day the other day.  The 24 hour snapshot shows what you would earn if you sold all your coins right now, not if you sold them as you were mining.  If you mine coins and don't sell them, and then the price drops, it's not the pool's fault.

As far as your 8-12% stales, that is far higher than the pool average which is around 2-5%, at least on doge.  On the other, faster, low diff coins, of course you have a higher stale rate if a block is being found every few seconds and probably both us and Middlecoin are on the same coin.  Almost ALL of the coins we mine have faster block times than LTC, you are normally not going to get sub 1% stale rates on any coin due to the faster block times unless you're like me and <20 ms from the server.

Anyway, if you email me I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot your stale issue.

A few questions for the admin of Multipool.  Does it normally take 79+ hours to find a block of LTC and did you realise the majority of DMD blocks(18/30) are orphan?  I see no sign on any news to correct these issues in the news feed.

That's not the norm for DMD, but some coins are better maintained and have better networks than others.  It's possible the DMD issue was an attack of some sort.  It's not the norm for Multipool, however; our overall orphan rate on DMD is about 5%.

Hi,

The "per-block estimate" for BTC on the website is always showing 0 - is this normal or is something wrong ?

Regards

YMMV apparently.  I'm on the east coast and have 3 rigs pointing to the east server.  All 3 are telling me a reject rate of about 2.2%.  I'm definitely doing better with coins than I would on LTC.

We're on the P2Pool.

Welcome to reality folks.
...some of us said ASIC would destroy BTC mining, and you all laughed. Said it would prevent that dreaded "51% Attack"

I looked at p2pool stats earlier today.  Share difficulty is about 800k or so.  That means to get a piece of the next p2pool block, you need to submit a share > 800k within the time period p2pool keeps for pplns (I think is 3 days, but not sure).

Small (< 100gh/s?) miners beware.

M

It's madness to mine on your own p2pool node with a small amount of hashrate.  Not only will you not find a sharechain block very often, but your payments will be basically dust.

The dev was supposed to be addressing these types of issues with the large donation of LTC he got, but his last commit to the git repository was over a month ago.  We have really been waiting for some features and now we are basically between a rock and a hard place WRT the BTC pool because we don't have enough hashrate to go it alone on our own stratum instances (even though the lower stale rates of stratum vs. p2pool would help retain new miners) and yet the dev has not made any progress that I am aware  of on the features that were requested.  He hasn't even merged the patch I sent him to log shares to a DB which would help smaller pools get started with p2pool.

I agree with you ... however I would add there isn't much difference between using p2pool anywhere vs your own node with a small amount of hashrate.  And the definition of small continues to increase as time goes by.  I'd say if you have less than 100gh/s, your variance on p2pool (regardless of node) is going to be huge.

there is a thing that im always wondering about.

how come multipool always show about 10% less Hashrate than my miner, i know that it is calculated from the valid shares, but i dont really have that much invalid shares. only about 1%

I know, but still there are very few coins to mine (only 1 gdc per block)...and each one is just 87 satoshis. It doesent seems profitable to me unless the value became 100x higher or something like that...

Can you disable mining certain coins? Like if I just wanted to mine Doge and LOT?

Any chance you can turn on EAC (earthcoin)?  Looks like Crypsy has added it now to the exchange.
Thanks!

Might have been posted somewhere, but cannot find it..

What are the optimal payout threshold settings (e.g. for a 2.5mH/s rig?) for crypsty autosell? 1 for everything (1000 min doge)? Interested in hearing whats best.

I second this, any thoughts on enabling EAC?
