Not 100% secure by any stretch of the imagination.
No hardware root of trust. No trusted boot of signed trusted image. Operating System isn't trustworthy (millions of lines of untrusted code)
I would call this "better" security for your wallet. An offline paper wallet stored in your safety deposit box at the bank is better (but isn't as convenient).

So, I'm good with my offline wallet?
I'm using Bitcoin-QT on linux and I don't seem to find my walltet.dat file
It's in the ~/.bitcoin folder. /home/<username>/.bitcoin is a hidden folder, maybe that's why you don't find it.

Awesome article..
I made some modifications... I've used VirtuBox to create a ubuntu virtual machine on a usb drive and keep everthing running right there persistantly.
That way if I need it I can just boot the vm, and transfer what I need...
Instead of just having a .dat file on the media, theres an entire OS there where the wallet file is burried into. Besides, with it being in a virtual format, they wont be able to see it unless they boot and then log into the vm.
