Its a shame that HTS is losing value each week as I had high hopes for this staking coin. It just goes to show that some staking coins are hit and miss when it comes to new projects. I always turn to the old staking coins like Bean Cash and MOIN which have been doing very well for many years now. I do like the look of Sinovate which Abiky mentioned, I have been following this project for a while now and am thinking about owning a position in this project once I get some spare BTC.
Becareful with your masternode coin. Sinovate already turned a shitcoin and look at the monthly return. the same thing is happening with sins and I will try to avoid any coin like masternode coin which is totally a scam coin for me. Sins is getting the worst dump and it goes from 100k satoshis to the 9k satoshis instantly.

Are you sure about Sinovate mate? I have been reading up on this project and to me it looks good. I was looking to get a mid tier node, I know the return is low but almost all MN roi is low unless they are new projects or pump and dump masternodes. I do think that masternodes are slowly dying as the hype is now over but we shall see what happens once the Alts get their time.

Hey guys,

I would like to get your opinions on Neblio? I have been following this project for a while now since the start of the year and it does look good to me as a stable PoS coin. I know the price is up over $1 however its a long way off its ATH of around $37 and has been flat lined for close to a year now so I was wondering what everyone thinks about this one here?

I've heard of them for a long time and the coin has often had predictable volatility so it has been good to trade.   Looks like they are doing

Yeah it has been mate but for the past year it has been around the same price which is what caught my attention. I like PoS coins that are able to hold and remain at around the same price for long periods of time and Neblio is one of them. I'll see how these upcoming updates go and then decide if I should buy or not.

I also followed Neblio from the beginning, and I must say that seems they are serious and devs still working on improving this project. Also, they have a very loyal community. If I remember correctly, his ICO started at $0.2, so they are still positive even if almost touched $60 in bull run time.
I think 7% is the annual profit from staking.

I am using this website: https://stakingrewards.com/ here you can research which coin is best for you based on risk reward ratio or annual profit.
Currently the best score has IOST, but this coin is pretty new, I do not know if it is good for long term HODL.  Smiley

Another old project with a good team.

Energi is having a big Earndrop, and you can get free coins and stake in their discord.  It's currently around $7 a coin.

Unfortunately, that's the same trend of most PoS coins. This is largely because, most PoS coins have a high inflation rate (which means a higher supply in the long run) causing prices to fall drastically within a short time frame. That's why, it's good to stick with the good-old PoS coins like Bean Cash, Peercoin, and Blackcoin. They have a proven track record of development and innovation over the years, making them ideal long-term investments.

Still though, there are some PoS coins which are quite promising (despite being relatively new). Sinovate is one of those coins, as well as, Syndicate and Decred. Personally, my most favorite nowadays is Decred since you get to buy some "staking tickets" in order to stake your DCR over time without even having to open your wallet 24/7. It's a PoW cryptocurrency, making it one of the best cryptocurrencies in existence today. Of course, it's been under the radar of most investors for some time now. But, I believe that it's a hidden gem waiting to blossom someday.

Decred's development team is quite active, providing innovation every step of the way. Syndicate is also good with some attractive stake rates that are hard to ignore. In the end, everything depends whenever a specific PoS coin maintains its value over time, or all the other way around it. As long as you stick with PoS coins that have a low stake rate (like PPC), then your investment will do fine for many years to come.

Nonetheless, the best PoS coins to invest right now might very well be both Bean Cash and Decred. Just my opinion Smiley

I have looked at Decred but never got in only because I was staking a few other coins at that time but I might be able to start staking this coin now. I'm in the process of upgrading some hardware so that I can start sprouting Bean Cash again as that wallet uses a lot of memory. I'm also looking at a coin I had a couple of years ago and that is Reddcoin but this wallet also uses a lot of memory when staking so I need to weight up my options and see which is best for me.

Not all POS coins have a high inflation rate, it doesnt have to be any greater then the general cost of POW and new issuance there.      Are people staking with ETH now, I've been waiting for that to be a thing for too long

Yes, 32 ETH is the staking minimum in the sharding proposal.
Could only be done by a pool which kinda loses the majority of the benefits to distributed networks a POS has over POW

If you want to reduce memory consumption, then simply use the "dbcache" and "maxconnections" command when launching your wallet via the command line (Windows) or terminal (Linux). Both dbcache and maxconnections can be set to the lowest value possible (for example: 4 for dbcache and 2 for maxconnections). At the cost of slower Blockchain synchronization speeds, your wallet will take up less memory from your system.

For example, if your wallet executable file is named "monetaryunit-qt.exe" then you would run the command as follows:

On Windows:

Code:
monetaryunit-qt.exe -dbcache=4 -maxconnections=2

On Linux:

Code:
./monetaryunit-qt -dbcache=4 -maxconnections=2

Where it says "monetaryunit-qt" you'd simply replace it with the name of your cryptocurrency's wallet executable file. Try it and see if it works for you. Wink

As for Decred, it's an interesting cryptocurrency that's too hard to ignore. Of course, to earn some decent income with it, you would need to invest a hefty sum of money (as with most PoS coins). But, the results are outstanding. I'm currently staking Bean Cash, Decred, and Blackcoin. From top to bottom, Bean Cash is the most profitable, followed by Decred and lastly Blackcoin.

Take your time to explore the various PoS coins available on the market today, as you'll discover some unique ones from others. I've been looking into Diamond recently, since it's a PoS coin with a very limited supply that also provides masternodes. It's been quite undervalued considering that there will only be a maximum of 4.38 million coins (lesser than Bitcoin) in circulation. Not to mention, its masternodes are highly rewarding. Smiley

Not all POS coins have a high inflation rate, it doesnt have to be any greater then the general cost of POW and new issuance there. Are people staking with ETH now, I've been waiting for that to be a thing for too long

That's certainly true, mate. Some PoS coins have a low inflation rate, in order to prevent a massive decline in price over the long term. Peercoin is a good example of such PoS coin with a 1% annual stake rate. While it's not much, it helps the cryptocurrency maintain its value over time. Hyper-inflated cryptocurrencies like LiteDoge and Mintcoin provide big rewards to its hodlers but their value decays over time. Which is why, I believe that PoS coins with low inflation rates, will survive for a very long time.

As for ETH, I've also been waiting for its next big upgrade. Implementing PoS is taking a long time, as developers delay the upgrade every time. I hope that by 2020, we'd get to experience the new PoS Ethereum, as it will greatly benefit its price across the crypto market. In the meantime, it's just a matter of buying and hodling lots of ETH before it becomes a full PoS coin.

Once Ethereum is PoS, then there will be FOMO among people within the mainstream world. Hence, it could become one of the most profitable PoS coins in the future.

Exactly. The PoS model of ETH will greatly benefit pools in the same way PoW is doing now. This greatly counteracts decentralization, as only wealthy people will be able to support the Blockchain and earn rewards from it. I hope that Vitalik would take decentralization in mind by reducing the number of ETH required for staking. If this happens, then many more people will join Ethereum causing greater demand and higher prices across the crypto market.

Nonetheless, I look forward to Ethereum's PoS consensus, as well as, the launch of a new staking pool called "Rocket Pool". Exciting things are yet to come for ETH, and PoS-based cryptocurrencies in general. Cheesy

@Abiky

Thanks for the tips on lowering the memory Bean Cash wallet is using, I never knew we could do this with the wallet or else I would of done it a long time ago lol. So this would work with most wallets then? as I also have Reddcoin which also takes up a lot of memory and DigiByte but with DigiByte I don't need to have the wallet running as it doesn't stake but still uses a lot of memory when opening it.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

You're welcome. This works with most wallets that are based on Bitcoin's codebase. Reddcoin, Bean Cash, PIVX, Dash, DigiByte, etc all fit into such category. For Ethereum-based coins like Expanse and Ethereum Classic, it's a different story (although commands are somewhat similar).

Remember that the settings described above, greatly reduce the amount of memory used. But their biggest downside, is that blockchain syncronization times take longer than usual. If you have your wallet fully synchronized, then this shouldn't be much of an issue.

I'd recommend that if you want to optimize your stakes, you should enable Coin Control features within your wallet. It's usually located under settings, which is relatively easy to find. There's an article across the web which explains how to properly configure Coin Control in order to gain better chances of receiving stakes. You can find that here: http://pos-monkey.com/what-is-coin-control/

Depending on the PoS coin chosen, the number of coins you split in a block will vary. If I recall, Bean Cash's optimum stakes require splitting coins of 1,000 BEAN each. This means, that you would split your total balance into 1,000 pieces within separate blocks. For example, if you have 10,000 BEAN then you would simply use Coin Control to split the coins into 1,000 BEAN each. As such, you'll see 10 transactions of 1,000 BEAN each instead of a single transaction of 10,000 BEAN in total. With this, you'll earn better stakes from your coins than it was previously.

As for most PoS coins, they have a minimum and maximum stake age. When the minimum threshold is reached, you'll be able to stake those coins in your wallet. For example, if you buy 1,000 BEAN now you might need to wait for 8 hours (more or less I'm not sure) until you start earning stakes from it. Now, when the maximum threshold is reached, then you won't be able to earn stakes from those coins any longer. For example, if I had 10,000 BEAN in my wallet and the maximum stake age is 1 month (assuming that's the current maximum stake age), then after that I won't be able to earn any more stakes from those 10,000 BEAN.

The solution for this would be to "reset" the age of the coins in my wallet. In order to do that, I'd simply send the 10,000 BEAN to me again which creates a new transaction in the Blockchain. As a result, the coins will start staking again until the maximum stake age is reached. Be sure to look for your favorite PoS coin's specs, in order to find its minimum and maximum stake age.

All in all, PoS coins are fun to hold for a very long time. They're much more accessible, energy efficient, and faster than most ordinary PoW coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum. In the end, PoS could very well be the future consensus algorithm of most cryptocurrencies within the mainstream world. Smiley

Yes I have noticed that it takes some time to sync the blockchain as I don't leave my DigiByte wallet open and sync once a day but its okay as now it doesn't use as much memory as before. I just got back into Reddcoin so I will do this as well, I plan to stake Reddcoin as much as I can to earn the best possible rewards from staking. I'm currently building up my stack until I at least have several hundred thousand coins to stake. Yes I already do this for BeanCash so thank you my friend.

I am using this website: https://stakingrewards.com/ here you can research which coin is best for you based on risk reward ratio or annual profit.
Currently the best score has IOST, but this coin is pretty new, I do not know if it is good for long term HODL.  Smiley

Yes, you are right based on that website IOST has a very good rating and even IOST is generating very good volume in the market.  We need to follow their channels in order to get more updates about their development and progress about their implementations.

Well I have decided to take the plunge and buy some Neblio and start staking. I only have a couple hundred coins so it is going to take some time before I start to earn some stakes but I plan to add to this stack every month. I'm also looking at a couple more staking coins which I have been keeping my eyes on for the past couple of months to see how they hold up. I'll make a post soon as I want to see how they go this month.
