OpenBazaar in my opinion lack simplicity and people do not understand the NEED for decentralized services. Once something goes wrong with

these centralized services, like PayPal... people realize what the fuzz is about, and then they flock to alternatives like OpenBazaar. We saw

this happening when BackPage experienced problems with other payment options a while ago. The bigger question.... Is Bitcoin ready for this

type of adoption? {scaling}  Roll Eyes

I think that this is possible but right now we are maybe not super close to that but I think in the future there is no doubt that it can do this.
i also agee with you that very soon bitcoin is going to overcome paypal as the bitcoin users are increasing too much while the number of paypal users are decreasing, because of their harsh policies.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

i vote maybe, because bitcoin is still young age for now and its need many years before overcome paypal, we know that paypal is the largest payment processor that being used by many of website for their payment gateway. its true that we have openbazaar but still a few people know about this and used it because if we compare the user which use paypal and the user which use bitcoin, there are many amount for people that use paypal.

I really can't understand why to compare so different things. Of course both of them are payment system but are completely  different. Someone above post that bitcoin problems are blocksize and confirmation time but these problems are irrelevant because paypal is used as internet money. The only reason I believe people they continue to use paypal in future is bitcoin's irreversibly and chargeback  policy offers paypal. If in the future online merchants operate as they operate now, many people won't agree but balance tilts to the side of paypal.

I think or me know people are always keep trusting a company that already been publish and protecting the customer like paypal reverse or charge back.. that can help customer to reverse the payment once he receive a wrong product or service..
Unlike bitcoin its anonymous and if you send it you will never reverse the payment.. and it is always need a middle man just to be safe.. like escrow..

No, it would't ovecome paypal because paypal is very important for buying bitcoin right now and its a mode of buying online for selected users who transact bitcoin buying. Although bitcoin is very popular right now it will not take away paypal to be unrecognized, and its more like they were partners and they do have each other's own advantages.

The rapid spread of bitcoin ensures that yes bitcoin will overcome paypal. You can already see that most of the online earners and service providers have adopted bitcoin as their payment system and they now do not rely on paypal for their payment.

Maybe in the future if bitcoin will be legal for now it is impossible because there is no policy and they can not get into the court if there is a company doing against the law or fraudulent in their company so i think paypal will be still safe to use so people will still use paypal. instead of bitcoin..
Protection of customer is their first priority.. unlike bitcoin that is why many people are scammed in bitcoin..

There will always be a segment of the population that will prefer to continue using paypal, as well as today there are many people who will always prefer to use fiat. I am sure that paypal will continue to exist for a long time, but about bitcoin I am not so sure.

I think yes it is possible so I voted for the bitcoin that yes it will overcome paypal because everyone want to use bitcoin for their services because if they will adopt bitcoin then they will be available for the whole world but if they will adopt paypal then they will be available for only a limited number of countries.

To my mind it's unlogical question because bitcoin is currency and paypal is a company which is in online money transfers. And I have queation, what will happen if paypal will officially add bitcoin in their system? Will this question be changed? Bitcoin has a potential to be a number one simple and fast payment way but with paypal we can use it for money return service while shopping.

It is possible that bitcoin would really overcome paypal when it comes to transactions, and user, but probably small time online shoppers and those who don't have bank accounts. We've only just began so probably most of the first people who will start this are us. Besides, the way to use bitcoin in buying isn't that easy and buying on openbazaar too is not yet famous to everyone so I think it won't replace ebay and paypal this time.

I actually hate Paypal and I wish that one day Bitcoin will kill their business. However, it may really take time to got my wish come true because Paypal is a very organized business and they have services for customers all over the world. Yes, PayPal is charging hefty fees plus they are very strict with their members but am sure they may lower the fees and innovate once they will feel the heat coming from Bitcoin.

The question is: Will Paypal integrate Bitcoin into their ecosystem? That would be interesting...

No, we won't but maybe, just to be in between... I do beleive that paypal is way stablished compared to bitcoin... Not to mention the buyer and merchant protection that each get from paypal when there is a dispute, that's one big advantage to buyer in online merchants... Ebay too, it was too big and openbazaar isn't that familiar to anyone, even to ordinary bitcoin user, most of us don't really  use openbazaar...

Even in userbase, paypal is still too big... Lets not forget that bitcoin user  is not that big yet... Maybe in the future, if paypal fails to satisfy its users we will left them behind...   Smiley

Paypal has so many problems and opens up way for lots of scams, specially against the merchants. with a quick search you can find many of them crying over the charge backs,... and Paypal not being helpful.

now in this situation something like bitcoin that fixes all those problems, and eliminates lots of ways to scam. and that makes it good and a viable option for a replacement for paypal. the only problem is the volatile price, and if it becomes less then you can expect the replacement fast.

" PayPal processed 450 payments per second on Cyber Monday last year {2015}. This equates to 27,000 transactions per minute, 1.6 million per hour, and 38.9 million per day. Do you see the problem here? Bitcoin will not be able to touch that, without scaling solutions applied to the current protocol.

Bitcoin was supposed to be a P2P payment alternative, but it turned into a commodity and a store of value. ^hmmmmm^

I personally don't want it to happen. Instead I want bitcoin and paypal to work together. why? Simple there were good things that paypal can provide which bitcoin can't as well as bitcoin can also provide something good that paypal can't. In the end we users are the benefactors of the services.
