It wouldnt overcome but it will hild a strong preferences in currency spending. People usually pay for btc with paypal at preev rate of 5-15% due to chargeback. Paypal is just having a really huge issue for the chargeback. Even the hard fork issue may came soon, yet i guess btc is still more realible to sent and receive as a payment
As a payment source it will be much preferred than PayPal by certain users whi completely use bitcoin for all their needs. Others prefer PayPal for its chargeback option which gives an additional trust on making any sort of transaction through them with a little increase in fee.

For me bitcoin will overcome Paypal because of its transactions fees, paypal has the high charges fees than bitcoin. Bitcoin is being in demand also because of its fluctuating price and fast transactions. I think people now adays are into using bitcoin than paypal because of its difference of features.

Yes. Apart from the good features which the bitcoiners can gain from OpenBazaar, bitcoiners can gain more of good features from the https://paybis.com/ through their current offer which also give bitcoin a huge possibility to overcome paypal/ebay in the future. Nevertheless, something need to be done with this hike in transaction fees because it  maybe one of the only thing that could hinder that top spot of bitcoin in the future.

Yes. Bitcoin needs to lower its transaction fees, otherwise it would not become mainstream anytime soon. So far, Bitcoin has a lot to improve for it to become used for everyday payments, but I believe that as time goes by, the cryptocurrency will mature and rival traditional payment methods. Right now, the pioneer cryptocurrency has been facing with scalability issues, but once they're solved, it will pave the way towards massive increase in its price, as well as becoming a mainstream cryptocurrency.

As for Bitcoin's price, it has been declining massively, probably because of the fears of it being forked, among other things. But in the bright side, Bitcoin is becoming cheaper for others to invest into it for the long term.

Nevertheless, it would be hard to say if Bitcoin will overcome PayPal at all, as its future is uncertain. Just my opinion.  Smiley
That's correct and the drama happening concern the debate over scaling/blocksize,bitcoin hard fork and possible blockchain split need to be put in consideration in other to make bitcoin to the mainstream of online payment/ crypto currency.

Bitcoin overcame gold few day ago, PayPal is next in line along with western union. It's a question of time, this or next year when bitcoin grown enough all this money transfer services will lose many customers, bitcoin will give them much more for lower fee's.

This is not far from possible to happen to bitcoins from this point given the condition of bitcoins nowadays. It's a matter of appreciation and application when it comes to different transaction in order to overcome Paypal. Maybe in the future many will prefer bitcoins, who knows?
But there many client on Paypal are now transferred into bitcoin so far, though they are both used as electronically payments but still bitcoin prevails because bitcoin has value, and anonymous and because of the volatility the value changed while Paypal is not the same as bitcoin. So it means bitcoin already surpassed Paypal.
It may seem that bitcoin for us is dominating PayPal but that is not the case, as everyone know PayPal is used by every single online shop out there, and no matter where you go you are always able to use your PayPal to buy stuff, and that is not the case with bitcoin, bitcoin is more of a way to exchange currencies a way to make profit and invest not actually to use it to buy and sell stuff and that is what makes PayPal different from it, so we don’t talk about bitcoin overcoming PayPal unless it becomes widely adopted by the internet community, and the economy of the world.

The charge back with PayPal and other businesses that involve banking is a bad sign from the people wanting to steal the customers money even if they have a valid excuse. Bitcoin could get past those scam features and just transact with user to user directly and the customer plus the seller will stay happy when the transaction is completed.
Bitcoin will overtake PayPal if Bitcoin stays alive, there isn't any reason for the project not to do so.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin
I think bitcoin already overcome Paypal, if you are going to check the features of bitcoin such as: Sending Money, Billings, Shopping Online, volatility, anonymous, and Decentralization on this things Paypal was being left in terms of usages, also bitcoin can be use in trading meaning it has value fluctuation rather than Paypal don't have that.

I would agree with your words if bitcoin also broke up and dialed its users at the same pace and amount as paypal, but while the lead in financial transactions remains for the payment system, and not for the crypto currency.

actually bitcoin is a universal currency and it can be use for payment method anywhere in the world. while paypal service is limited and they cannot provide their service throughout the world.

I've voted "maybe" because from the start, bitcoin and paypal aren't the same thing. But, will the btc replace paypal in the means of usage, I doubt it but it can be possible but not now or in any near future. I see it hat way just because of the people, they're used to paypal and paypal is used everywhere and when they hear of bitcoin as an "internet crypto-currency" they think it's some dodgy thing, so untill bitcoin fixes it's name and offers something better than paypal what people will hugely notice, then it's quite possible for bitcoin to overcome pp.
They are different things but at the same time we must understand that they fulfill similar niches so it stands to reasons that if bitcoin grows it is because it also took some of the market share that paypal holds, since those are the customers with the most money.

Paypal is working in most of the countries expect few due to government policies. But they are best for buyers because they protect buyers from scammers, so they have become so popular in an online payment system. I do agree that bitcoins you can send to anyone in the world, but you must need an escrow to deal with unknown person otherwise, you may get cheated, and that's the drawback for bitcoin transactions.

Hardfork is not an issue to be compared to the paypal process Tongue it is an update to the block size and if it is done carefully then there is no issue and there wont be a split in the block chain and everything will be smooth, paypal always had the charge back issue and paypal is not a currency but bitcoin is.

That's pretty simple question with a straight away answer "YES IT WILL". Yes bitcoin will overcome paypal. With over so many restrictions placed on a paypal account. It becomes difficult to do transaction..and the biggest problem is the limit of the paypal account and the other problem is that paypal is only for international transactions. W ell some people may find it helpful but when it comes to spending money for daily life activities..Paypal is useless.

With bitcoin, etherum and other cryptocurrencies soaring to sky. It's pretty well sure that in the coming future BTC and paypal will become rivals...With BTC having the winning edge over paypal. Grin

Paypal cannot be overcome by bitcoins because of the simple reason that 90% of the online e-commerce sites accept paypal as a payment method and hence that plays a vital role. Though a person who knows btc and paypal both would always prefer dealing via bitcoins.

I think the situation will be different when already many people around the world use and adopt bitcoin of course, inevitably. e commerce or certain stores will also accept bitcoin

What the other person stated is pretty true. If the same amount of people learn Bitcoin and decide to go through with paying things via Bitcoin instead of with PayPal then the whole Bitcoin Project will be bigger than the PayPal company.
PayPal is nothing without the customers, if Bitcoin reaches more people than Bitcoin then BTC has a chance of winning the competition against the two. It's been many years and PayPal isn't making much progress anyhow.

I disagree with you completely, I can only agree that currently PayPal stands tall but it's only a matter of time for those online ecommerce websites to start accepting Bitcoins just like PayPal or even better due to the advantages of Bitcoin and the blockchain technology.

I have vote yes, and I am thinking that bitcoin has already proven it's worth to the world that it is worthy of their trust and if the collaboration of Bitcoin and Paypal would truly become a reality then I think it will stand still and might be a threat with ebay and some sites that are using paypal on their direct transaction, but i think some competitors are trying to manipulate the matter in stopping the progress of bitcoin.
