Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

yes I think bitcoin already overcome paypal as there are to many benefits of using bitcoins than paypal mainly investment and security

Even though there is a chance for bitcoin to overcome paypal there is till a threat for bitcoin to not be successful in overcoming the paypal community and that is the fees. Yes, fees in bitcoin that are continue rising up and it can be a downside for bitcoin since people now a days doesn't want expensive fees and they just like stable and low fee if possible and that is the problem of bitcoin.

PayPal is a very popular payment system. It is known in many countries of the world. Bitcoin still can not compare with it. These systems are not competitors to each other.

I agree with you mate, inspite of the good features of bitcoin still those business online are more into paypal. And yes, it is more popular to use than bitcoin, but the possibility of it is to overcome may also come because we can see it is more advisable now and good for anonymity of the two party who are in transactions.
Well, the issue of online business, maybe this time paypal control because paypal is so popular, and has been reliable. but, of course bitcoin still has great potential to be better than paypal, just not many people are aware of it.

That's the problem that not many people know about bitcoin. And do not know, then do not trust. And the pipal is made for fiat. Therefore, he is so popular
PayPal was not this popular at first, people thought of PayPal the same as they think of bitcoin right now, bitcoin is still a young and a new idea that needs more support.

The only reason PayPal started working is because it was able to convince central banks that it could bring them more dollars, and that was a good idea so they accept it and started promoting it and people started using it, and that is what we have to do, we need to let people know what makes bitcoin so good and profitable for everyone and only then bitcoin will become used by everyone.
This reminds me of credit cards, at first it was a new concept that it as difficult for some to understand and also it was a new way to get in debt, before you needed to ask for a loan, but at the end people ended accepting this new form of payment and the same may happen to bitcoin.

I believe it will since it is safer better and cheaper. It is easier to use and you do not even need a bank account. Thst is the best part about bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not that much strong still, and we need a bank because the other methods are a bit costly for normal users and medium and low level traders.
I strongly feel that one day Bitcoin will overcome PayPal as PayPal is only good for some countries but Bitcoin is universal.

We don't need banks because that is against the feature of bitcoin for being decentralized. We don't need people who like to control because bitcoin is free and it offers freedom to all of its users.

Bitcoin is very universal because anywhere in the world, you can use it because it just need internet connection. But some of the country banned it already, So i think the only thing we need for bitcoin is approval of the government to fully overcome paypal.

Paypal has a use for the first world that bitcoin probably wont completely take over. We might take over the market cap, but they will probably still exist.
Which kind of use could that be? Because most of the online store which accept paypal as means of payment are now accepting bitcoin either. Haven't you read the news that 260,000 store are now accepting bitcoin as means of payment in Japan? I'm sure most of the store are not receiving paypal as their payment method.

This probably possible but here the condition for the priority of the bitcoin use will be different in different country , so here it is just a matter of thing that you can estimate the bitcoin legality which vary from country to country .
Here if you will take an example of Japan where it is fully legal officially accepted , so here no doubt that in the incoming years the bitcoin will surely overcome the use of PayPal .
But the condition for the bitcoin for other country may depends upon the view of the government of that country , that how they treat with bitcoin .

PayPal is already a strong and big company. We can never tell if it can be overcome by bitcoin but based on its current performance in the market, there is a big possibility in the future. But I think bitcoin will have a hard time to overcome PayPal because it has many users and followers.

Exactly. Right now, Bitcoin's current limitation is its block size. The ever-increasing fees would make it harder to overcome traditional payment processors like PayPal, as people would prefer the latter due to its quick settlement and established trust over the years.

That is why, right now, the pioneer cryptocurrency can never be compared to PayPal, unless it decides to reach consensus within its community to help make it great again. If Bitcoin could prove its use case, then it would become the top choice for merchants and businesses over PayPal. The combination of OpenBazaar and Bitcoin will greatly revolutionize the way merchants interact with their buyers. Just sharing my thoughts.  Grin

I think no and yes, Paypal is a really popular for most of the people and almost all stores accept payments from paypal even payment from buying bitcoins. You can connect your paypal account to your Credit Card but in bitcoin wallet, there are only some wallets that has these feature. Paypal use real money and some users of bitcoin, still convert their bitcoins into real money.

People go for PayPal because of its convenience, high level of acceptance, and the buyer protection feature. It's very difficult for Bitcoin to gain ground in its current form. Simply having larger blocks won't do much as more is needed. In order to make Bitcoin a decent PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, etc, competitor, it needs Lightning Network. That's how you push Bitcoin into mass adoption.

Bitcoin actually already, overcome paypal in so many things, in terms of the features of bitcoin such as easy to use, charge is very low in every transaction, it can be trade, and it's anonymous and mostly it is decentralized.

PayPal ain't no currency. Can't be stressed enuf. A PayPal account gets ballanced in dollars. They are just a company providing a product, beeing hinged onto classical payment channels. Each and every Bitcoin startup could offer the service, just adding BTC along bank wire to fund the accounts.
That would work on current state of things, blockchain as a settlement layer. Nor bigger blocks or LN would expand any possibilities that allready do exist.

Bitcoin has a lot of branding hurdles to overcome. And also usability concerns for newbies and technologically defunct (i.e. old people). Mobile apps are getting sophisticated at a rapid rate so I'm sure these problems will be solved quickly. As long as the market catches up, we should have nothing to worry about.

But it is definitely faster and more secure than PayPal. There is no 3rd party involved in the exchange, so yes I hope Bitcoin does eventually replace PayPal.  Tongue

in addition to faster, you're also free to use bitcoin for anything. because of the decentralization that makes you free to use bitcoin for any transaction. it was better than paypal

I don't think it will be a long way or wait for more than years because bitcoin is starting to overcome paypal because of its features and the advantages of using it. One of the proof that bitcoin is now overcoming paypal is it's starting to be accepted by the people around the world or the countries to be specific. Like the latest news where Japan is starting to accept bitcoin and there is a lot of stores who are starting doing it.

It's hard to beat PayPal when it comes to service and right now bitcoin is still far on defeating that company. It already built trust and reputation in the community with transactions because it is partnered with almost all banking institution for each country while bitcoin is still new but I know it's on its way to beat PayPal.
