It should be that way but I don't think we see it happening another decade, it is entirely up to people whether they want to pay more fees or less.
People always do not look at fees they also look at security since paypal transactions are reversible so if any person feels that he got cheated by a seller/dealer than buyer can charge back his money so in case of fraud fees is nothing while you can not get back your Bitcoin if you get cheated by a online dealer.

What you are telling about paypal transaction reversible which is good and bad also as so many scammer as using this feature to cheat it buy first buying the product or bitcoins by paying through paypal and after some days they give the paypal of not receiving the goods and wanted to reverse the transaction and get back their amount even when the seller gives the full details about the goods sent paypal reverse the transaction , so like this the users are cheating the sellers.

very soon when most of them after seeing this problem with paypal will start to do transaction with bitcoins

Obviously no one would expect to pay more fees like how PayPal is consuming. Bitcoin would be the best replacement for western union and PayPal. Once Bitcoin become centralized then sure these companies should shut down it.

based on the amount of times that Paypal has screwed me, I would be perfectly okay with another system taking their lane.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin
Bitcoin does not need to overcome paypal, bitcoin is way better since its birth, paypal is just a payment processor like many others that have existed and will exist, bitcoin is the first of a new type of currency, it does not matter if bitcoin does not reach the user base of paypal, bitcoin is way better.

Overcome of what? Bitcoin is a currency and Paypal is a company. Can bitcoin do what Paypal can do alone without the help of third party? It should be a comparison between Paypal and Bitcoin exchanges because they are both providing services on how people will use their fiat and bitcoin.

Why replace if we can take advantage of the both?

Maybe. Bitcoin rises so fast but paypal is in steady and also paypal serves people for a long time. We can say that paypal is in stable but bitcoin is just a few years running in the internet and some country is not considering bitcoin while almost all country considers paypal as legit. What if all the country consider bitcoin as legit. We cant say

It's really rare for me to fully back what bitcoin can and can not do, even with so much personal interest vested... but I am very certain that if bitcoin can stay its course, it will easily overtake paypal.

PP has been around for so much longer and it took them a while to take hold. Bitcoin all the way!

Yes! Bitcoin can easily overcome Paypal.
Maximum 5-6 years!
The main reasons-
1. Paypal has very high fees. Whereas Bitcoin has negligible fee.
2. Paypal has several terms and conditions, Bitcoin is purely based on concept of decentralisation!

Yes this is possible for sure, I think that it can cross over paypal within some time for sure but we just need some patient.

That was a good factor how bitcoin will overcome paypal for me bitcoin will surely overcome paypal not now but in the few more years. We just have to wait for that and bitcoin have much cheaper when it comes on transacting and is very convinient to use

if you think about it well, then you would think that bitcoin has far exceeded paypal. indeed, if people say that paypal is the best payment processor, and has been recognized worldwide. but if you have been using bitcoin, then you definitely have to know the difference of paypal and bitcoin. I am a user of both, and I feel that bitcoin is far better than paypal. I feel that bitcoin has exceeded paypal when bitcoin prices are above $ 500.

Paypal still be a good interms of buyers protection because they know who is the person who dealing with them because their accounts is verified..
Unlike in bitcoin almost all people are anonymous we do know each other even who are managing our wallet or any we wallet..
The good thing in bitcoin the price is not stable unlike in paypal we only get the protection but in bitcoin we are getting benefits of price increase and cheap fee..

I think that there is a chance that this will happen because the bitcoin is already very popular and is still growing all over the world.

There is a big possibility that bitcoin can overcome paypal, the no.1 thing is the charge is too low compare to paypal, bitcoin is very convenient to use compare to paypal.

That's inevitably true and it'll come to pass in the near future. Bitcoin properties and potentials far outweigh PayPal as a payment system.

In terms of features and fees bitcoin clearly overcomes paypal but defnitely not on merchants and users cause allmost every business accepts paypal . It is fairly possible that in terms of merchants and users, bitcoin can be in the same line or even surpassed it after some years has passed if bitcoin still existed and it continue to grow like in terms of users or the buy rate .

I don't look at it from that point. Mainly because of the fact that PayPal clearly is doing something right as it keeps attracting people to sign up at their service. What I can see happen is that Bitcoin overtakes PayPal in terms of daily transferred $$ volumes. But even if that doesn't happen, then still, we don't have to focus on how to overcome/replace/overtake whatever payment service or bank. People have to accept that Bitcoin is only functioning as an alternative. It's available for people looking to make use of something with no third party interference where you can send and receive money instantly 24/7 world wide.

I think bitcoin will overcome paypal because paypal has some disadvantages like higher fees compared to bitcoins. Paypal also facing scam acussations and problem with witdrawing.

Definitely yes. Paypal works in a traditional environment of fund transfer and they have set of rules and regulations to comply with. On the other hand, bitcoin is a new technology and it is whole different subject matter as compared with fiat currencies. Bitcoin as a technology is far more advanced than a paypal as a technology and hence in coming future, I think the volume of transactions in bitcoin would surpass the volume of that of paypal.

bitcoin certainly has the potential to replace bitcoin and it is a lot better than paypal even. but in my opinion there are two things that are preventing this to happen.
1) is the volatile price: when price of bitcoin is not stable, people aren't seeing bitcoin as a currency. instead they treat it as an investment and nobody uses investment to buy things.
2) the block size: which is making the transactions pile up in the mempool, making things slow and increase the amount of fees by a great deal.

I think that Bitcoin first needs to solve scalability issues, for it to really get somewhere. If Bitcoin aims to become a better way to pay than Visa, Mastercard, or even Paypal, it would needs certain fixes that would help it achieve this goal.

I have no doubt that the more popular, and widely used Bitcoin becomes, the more it will increase in user awareness thus making it a real competitor against Paypal. It all needs faster transaction times, better capacity to handle a hefty sum of transactions, and most of all, price stability. Just sharing my thoughts.  Grin
