that's right with many limitations bitcoin will overcome paypal in coming days, as we see more and more adoptions and transactions already using btc. paypal should think about that and extend hands together with bitcoin to survive and keep exist in the future.

Yes. Bitcoin would likely overcome PayPal right after a scalable solution such as SegWit gets implemented, as user adoption and interest would increase into it.
So, at least you must believe if SegWit will reach 95% or it maybe 90%.
And BU must disappear.

But the scalable fixing is not mean the bitcoin will overcome the paypal for instantly.

By the time bitcoin would have even reached the point where it could take over paypal a government ban would be set over bitcoin, it won't completely crash bitcoin but it will stop all legal and big brand corporations from accepting bitcoin as payment. The government ban will happen because it is easy for companies, especially small, avoid taxes due to the anonymity of bitcoin. Maybe I am wrong, I sure hope so.

But I hope paypal dies no matter what if its bitcoin or some other currency, paypal is one of the most sketchy and scammy services there is out there. Even with that it is the biggest brand instant money transfer-er.

I voted yes but there's no way to know. The significant difference between the two is that PayPal is a business and Bitcoin is not. Businesses come and go because if they stop making a profit they go out of business. If Bitcoin survives these first few years, there is no limit to how long it can last.

Signs that bitcoin will overcome Paypal is very obvious, now payments community have made the internet a priority, Bitcoin marketcap is more than $16 billion is the prooven, I am optimistic that not more 5 years again Paypal will stop its business.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin
I definitely can see the potential of Bitcoin. Although, the first step for it to overtake paypal is to go mainstream. And the only way that is going to happen is if the price somehow manages to stabilize and if the block size increases. Segwit or something needs to help with that problem. Paypal is extremely popular, which is something that you couldn't say for Bitcoin. We also need more people to have exposure to Bitcoin if want anything to happen for Bitcoin.

I clicked maybe, simply because...

Do I think Bitcoin SHOULD overcome PayPal, yes. But will it, probably not for a long time. This is simply because it is very difficult for people to change from what they are used to. Paypal is so widespread and used in

most people's main currency, that finding an incentive to make everyone switch to bitcoin will be difficult, despite bitcoin's benefits.

Not for a long time. PayPal is a no-brainer and easy to understand for most people. You ask people around about BTC, they might have heard about it but no idea how it works.

I agree. However, since the world keep developing and developing, we have to learn and understand new technology and new invention in order to evolve. We are human and we keep growing and becoming more intelligent every centuries. Therefore, if people want to live in this world, they have to adapt to change and new things happening on this planet

Let us keep in mind that PayPal's annual payment volume from 2012 to 2015 keeps on increasing (from $150 billion in 2012 to $280 billion in 2015). That in my opinion is a hard act to follow. But I believe that in the future, say 10 years from now, we might be talking about it differently. Right now, bitcoin's market cap is at around $15 billion (having already reached all-time high) compared to that of Paypal's which is at $50 billion.

we can not say, because Bitcoin and paypal are the advantages and disadvantages
And the current perspective, I think that Bitcoin has beneficial than paypal
However, Bitcoin has not been recognized by the world, meanwhile, Paypal is still the currency which is preferred by the world.
That is my opinion

As said bitcoin has the potential to overcome PayPal, which is just a transaction support processor working with a middleman. In a recent news one of the initiator of PayPal Peter Thiel indicated Bitcoin as an advancement in which he could have developed PayPal if he was aware of the technology prior to bitcoin invention. Also he has the plan of making of relative business with bitcoin. This serves as a proof that bitcoin will overcome PayPal.

Paypal was a business venture that had a lot of investments riding on it. It came amidst a slew of other payment processors who are also doing more and more business each year. It's taken them a long time to get to that stage, and it will probably take a lot longer for bitcoin... which is not a business entity.

Bitcoin doesn't have any advertising or financial muscle to flex - it's completely reliant on us, the decentralised community.

Let's see where bitcoin is in 2020 =)

PayPal is Offcourse a big business venture. But in my opinion bitcoin will overcome PayPal.It may take some time for bitcoin to overcome PayPal because bitcoin is not that popular like PayPal. Bitcoin is getting popular day by day. The main reason for this is its processing fee. PayPal takes a lot of money as processing charge where as bitcoin will take only few amount compared to it. So people will chose bitcoin over PayPal. Next thing is the transfer is instant. Within few minutes it will get transfered and the amount is available in the account.

That is not a sensible to say that paypal is a business and bitcoin is not. In any way bitcoin and paypal are in competition and every one know that bitcoin will replace paypal because payment with paypal is much harder and mostly creates inconvenient for more of the clients and service providers.

I don't think so because these are two different things. Bitcoin is cryptocurrency and PayPal is online money service. There will always be people and businesses who will not use Bitcoin but they will have the need for services that PayPal gives. But maybe Pay could embrace Bitcoin and on that way it would become even more popular among users.

I don't think PayPal will ever incorporate Bitcoin in their systems. PayPal is a favorite option because it offers people to charge back in case something goes wrong, or when they get scammed for example. Within their platform/system they can easily achieve that, but that's not the case with Bitcoin. Bitcoin transactions as soon as they get confirmed, the transaction is final. Imagine all the complaints that will go towards PayPal when people get scammed and there is no way to charge back. It's too much of a hassle and headache for PayPal, where Bitcoin is also a potential threat to them as it may snoop away market share from the regular PayPal market eventually.

Seconded. Even though Paypal has been around for years making fiat payments fast & easy, Bitcoin's Fanbase is continuously growing reaching new heights and milestones. If Bitcoin Price is not being controlled by whales and the price is stabilizes , That is, Same price everywhere; Then Bitcoin will certainly prevail against Fiat opponent — Paypal. There'll come a time when We'd have to chose between Decentralization & Centralization.

Yes is the best suited on the options because i can really understand the potential of bitcoin regarding on online transaction and if people would get to know the assets of owning bitcoins  then they will definitely reverse their mindset but for now people still use paypal amazon eBay etc because they are being used traditionally from the very beginning thats why they would hardly leave it easily bitcoin and also everybody doesn't consider a bitcoins as an investment due to its volatile nature but definitely at some point of time like there was PayPal revolution there will be bitcoins revolution when people realise it's true power but have to overcome the challenge of overtaking PayPal's multi billion dollar market and get outa the typical middle class mindset of not considering bitcoins safe.

Someday it will. It is good to be compared to Paypal rather than comparing it to US dollar or paper money. Bitcoin wallets are taking the higher level when it comes to using bitcoin for different transactions. So someday they will somehow overcome it. Although not now, because of illegal things that are happening in deep web but it can be fixed as long as no one will provide.
