well in my opinion the main reason is not the volume you speak of. i feel like bitcoin has enough popularity its just that buying into bitcoin is somewhat complicated. theres so many verifications on exchanges that need to be done. for a anonymous currency this is quite the opposite of ideal.

Every time bitcoin is gaining a momentum and price is skyrocketing there is something which will drag it down. Exchange hack/collapse, FUD, anti bitcoin resolutions and laws being pushed...

Also BTC is ground breaking technology, but also totally new and unknown concept. We are in the early adoption phase where, we are technology enthusiasts, pioneers and visionaries.

Then there will be chasm and mass adoption will begin - BTC will be embraced first by pragmatists then conservatives and lastly skeptics.

I do not think it is enough to "inform people" to arouse interest in them to approach this ecosystem. It's not more difficult to buy bitcoin than it is to pay with paypal. You create an account on one of the exchanges (just like you create an internet bank account or a paypal account), you wire the money from your bank account, and you press the "buy" button. This can't be the deterrent! Millions of people are using online banking every day.
There are other real factors that make bitcoin difficult to understand for the masses, like the private and public keys and the fact that the coins are your responsibility. You can't insure your wealth or run to the bank office for help. If you lose your key it's game over.

Really there many people who don't consider bitcoin as future currency because many people don't believe on internet money first of all, Even my dad says how can money will be deposited in to your bank through internet how it is possible, it is because they simply don't have knowledge how internet trending will make money. Lack of knowledge relative to technology and the interest of using fiat for their own convenience is the one that keeps most users to stand away from digital currencies and continue to use fiat. It is the same reason why most of the people who have heard of Bitcoin during 2009 - 2010 did not "dance to the music". I have heard a lot of stories from people who have discovered Bitcoin during that time but they did not do anything. They finally heard the music on 2013 when Bitcoin's value was not a joke anymore. You may have been easily one of those people.

Not all people knew about bitcoin thus they are start know and learning it from there friends or families and not because of the volume it self. if people heard about bitcoin they might get confuse and ask other what is it. I have to disagree. We do not need more promotion or marketing. The Bitcoin community does not use it as cash. Most are just holding or use it very rarely. Some would like to but there is no place to spend Bitcoin. So what we need is to start using them. If i tell a friend to use this new form of money and to get on board, all he need to do is to ask me how often i us it and where and then i will have a hard time explaining why he needs it if he is not going to use it. 

Guess what, you need someone to accept Bitcoin to use Bitcoin.  If you failed to make someone accept it then there will be no usage for Bitcoin.  And the first step to make other use it, is thru marketing, promotion and merchant adoption.  It needs a wider scale of influence and not just our circle of friends.  So I guess the best thing to do it is widespread awareness on what bitcoin is and it will be done thru marketing and promotions.

How do other decentralized or not-for-profit organizations advertise? We obviously need to follow that model. Everyone pay your 0.001BTC to Gavin Anderson and tell him it's for a 30 second TV commercial that a pro marketer designed.

If you want mass adoption you need something big like TV. Internet ads are too focused on what you may actually want lol.

This might be but the one that have the greatest effect is the legalities involved with bitcoin,  once bitcoin is accepted as currency  by certain government, we will se a spike of people going to bitcoin on that country.  Same thing happen when a country banned it.  So I guess the greatest impact is how the government address Bitcoin and how it is accepted in the country.

Depends on how you understand marketing and promotions . It was stated in general way that all possible medium to promote Bitcoin can be done.  And of course we know that promotion requires advertisement and ads are not limited to internet alone

Its a big impact for this industry if we can find a great ways to advertise especially on a big social media it will bring people awareness and the possibility to invite more newcomers if we can make certain moves and provide all the advantage of bitcoin allowing more people to learn how to earn from bitcoin investment will surely attract them to join.

we need to change two things:
first and foremost is the mentality of people about bitcoin that they should start thinking of bitcoin more of a currency and try to help the adoption more with spending it. and also change their mentality in order not to listen to stupid FUD about anything, mostly China related and panic.

also we need to change the exchanges and how they affect the price, right now a whale dumps and it clears out most of the buy orders and pushes the price down. and also at the same time a whale puts up a wall and nobody can eat through it. in any other market whales like this would have been meaningless.

I think that the reason why people do not get bitcoin is that the technology of bitcoin and Blockchain seems hard for understanding, cause of it's totally different from traditional paper money model. To people get bitcoin we must to explain bitcoin more as money, not as technology. And money provokes much more interest than technology.

It means when peoples wanna get in bitcoin at least they should have enough intelligence to can use and understand how bitcoin work. Bitcoin has different systems work rather than paper money but in other side bitcoin is more modern.

This is the reason why we should actively engage with counter marketting strategies to nullify the negative effects that are being posted in the Fiat dominated media. Most of these articles are backed by Fiat shills being paid to spread FUD about Bitcoin.

Just look what happens when the price goes up. You see more trolls on Reddit spreading misinformation and they even dare to come to this forum. We de-bunk most of their junk, but when mainstream media are used, we have almost no way to de-bunk their articles, so we post counter arguments in other less popular media, that are not seen by the general public.
