The reason that BTC is so cheap and progresses so slowly is that people are only exponentially "getting it".
Well, from December to April, especially from February, the Chinese were exponentially "un-getting it"; and that was swamping any growth outside China.  (They may have started "getting it" again now, we'll see...)

You don't really know that.   For all any of us know, the Chinese, as a collective, may hold more coins now than they did before February.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Fuck, just saw the willy report, we should have crashed and burned?
This makes the previous bubble irrelevant. Historical data from September fake. All those trend-lines and analysis is based on fake trades and volume. Why the hell isn't anybody saying a thing??

Everyone is too busy making puns...

Everyone knew about it at the time. It was factored into the price months ago.

Because willy's volume was 15 % of an exchange that was barely 10 % of the overall volume over all the exchanges.

Remember it was China that led us up, not Mtgox.

+2 [Jorge]'s a paid bank shill.
No, I am a paid government apologist.  Truly.  And not ashamed of it.

As for banks, they are taking maybe 60% of all the taxes I pay now, via interest on Brazil's public debt.  And yet they are trying to topple the President that I voted for.  So, rest assured that I have no love for them.

(In fact, a few years ago I sued a Brazilian bank over some 30 k USD of inflation adjustment fees that they had wronglfully made many years ago to the financing of our home, that was not even ours at the time. It was a standard lawsuit, the courts had already decided that those particular adjustments were illegal; but each victim still had to sue the bank individually, for the joy of the legal profession.  There are even lawyer offices that do nothing else but those lawsuits, and we hired one of them.  But, when the process finally got to court (a couple of years later), the lawyer just forgot to tell us and did not show up in court -- so we lost for WO, and that meant a lot of troubles besides the loss of the money.  We then sued the lawyer, and his fault was so obvious that we actually won; but the judge reduced the claim to ~8 k USD, since he considerd that we might have lost the original suit anyway.  We should have got that money and forgot the case, but our (second) lawyer talked us into appealing; and that was some 8 years ago, which means that in another 7 the appeals court may look at out case again, maybe.)

Slightly off topic but also relevant to your post. Do you have love for the government, police and military? I was wondering about the validity of these claims - http://revolution-news.com/brazil-unleashes-new-terror-favelas-aims-silence-anti-capitalist-social-movements/#prettyPhoto

Seem pretty damning to me.

it was like one person activating the bot to market buy until his $$ are 0. It was a stupid move because there was no support by the china exchanges.

Not everyone is a daytrader, buying to sell.

Not everybody cares about China.

this sentiment has been stated by alot of other traders as well, mt gox volume at the time was very small compared to the other exchanges

Last few years bitcoin was closed for summer and this year some want us to think it will be different. I think this year will be like it was before low volume and low price until october and than we will see it rise again it's just my opinion I have nothing to back it up.

I have NO real clue either; however, to follow your theory, BTC would have to suffer a longer downtime, and it seems due for a rally.  I doubt that the level of bitcoin activity is easily predicted or correlated by yearly seasons.... even though it may correlate somewhat with world events... for example, there were a few activities last year that came together in September/October, and one of them was the closing down of the USA govt.. which is NOT very frequently discussed as a contributory factor regarding BTC sentiment last year.

Because that report and your conclusions are bullshit.
I did read a lot of posts about Chinese fake volume and a about abot named Willy on Gox. But never thought Willy was fake.
If Mtgox faked volume. The Chinese probably are too. Maybe we should stop referring to any Chinese exchange as any indicator of price.
I'm long and cant rationalize that decision now.

No matter how small the volume the 10x price increase was induced.
The 5 month deflation makes perfect sense. Atleast its factored in now.

Whats the point referring to the previous ATH now?

If nobody wants govt regulation. Then a decentralised p2p exchange should end up being the leading exchange in time.

Agreed.  If tipping each other "bits" starts taking hold on FB like it did on the reddit bitcoin sub, it could spread like wildfire.  FB has ~1.3B active users/month.

Hopefully this will spurn FB to add their own first party integration.
