Like why did we go from $590 last week to $309 without any big news?
To be fair, there is not much pressure from the buy side. I imagine there are a lot of people wanting to cut losses or take some profits they hadn't yet and were holding out for some rally. The market is looking quite bearish. For all of the cheap coin talk, there are very few people rushing in to scoop up these coins or we'd still be above $500 or $600.

Tom Cruise is the man.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I´m not sure anymore if high volume arbitrage bots really exist in crypto world. Stamp 472, Finex 462, Btc-e 448, Huobi 459.

for all the talk of "short squeezes" on this forum, clearly the real danger from watching BFX and BTCE is leveraging long. we have seen these wipeouts before... and we will see them again, IMO.

I still don't get this dump..

Price driven down by sellers with something to gain. The gain of course is more bitcoin. Expect the price to rise and rise sharply when sentiment on here is at rock bottom. If the price bounces back upwards over the next few weeks and takes 680 then we have a confirmed uptrend which will only be obvious in the rear view mirror.

Ah the day (2013-4-10) when BTC crashed from $266 to $105 (-60%) in 7 hours.

Then snapped back to $203 (+95%) in 2 hours.

Then took a slide back to $120 (-40%) in 17 hours, after which the trading in Mt.Gox was halted for 10 hours.

When the exchange opened at $130, it soon crashed to $65 (-50%) in 1 hour, after which it recovered to $130 (+100%) in 1 hour.

9 hours later we saw $54 (-60%). In 12 more hours it was already $130 (+150%) yet again.

What am I teaching? That price does not matter. Number of bitcoins matters, and low prices are to be used for buying them, not selling.

Thank you Smiley

What's the main purpose for Bitcoin?
Mean of monetary transaction?

I personally just don't see it happening in a long run.

This volatile madness will continue for a while.
Some will win, some lose.

But in the long run, +10 years, it's a no go.
Because it won't fit the sole main purpose.

Thank you Smiley

"When they finally get some product from him, even if it is late, junk, and much less than they paid for, they will be thankful and forget the damage and come back the next day for more, nice and smiling."

yeah... oorrrrr they shank the fuck out of the guy with a sharpened screwdriver and leave him full of holes in a puddle of his own blood and relieve him of his cash and stash... but I guess that depends on what neck of the woods you hail from.

Also are you talking from experience?  ha ha sounds like you are familiar with waiting around for shitty dealers to me.

Other than that, what a daft example you give.

As you guessed, not from personal experience.  Cheesy  And I bet you have never misused a screwdriver, either.  Cheesy Cheesy

But I have been close enough to people with such personal experience.  And it was not funny at all...  Tongue

Noone can predict the future. But shorting bitcoin at these levels is for people who can move the market or traders who haven't been round the block yet!

the only news has been an overwhelming bear market. hell, not even sure this is the last margin call cascade we will see. that's what it looks like anyway. someone probably dumped 2k+ coins and triggered a bunch of stops and then triggered a bunch of margin calls....

But if it where just Margin calls that went off, why don't we recover?

Some moments are for increasing the fiat value of your coins.  Some moments are for increasing the number of your coins.  This is the latter.  These are the days that will define the winners and the losers, the millionaires and the whiners, the successful and the failures.  Choose your future now.
