Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

This time last year, we were heading for $1,000

$2,000 is around the corner, I can feel it creeping upon us like a stalking leopard about to pounce on a bull.

Personally I think we're just going to get yanked around until 2016.  Not to say there aren't a lot of BTC to add to your pile between now and then.

+1 We will have to wait until the US Marshals get rid of all the DPR coins, leaving only Satoshi's vault as the only big bag left to dump. Only then, the new Bitcoin generation will come forward.

The seizing of DPR coins will hopefully be a reminder to people to have the bulk of their coins stored offline on an encrypted drive with the seed memorized. If DPR had done that, his coins would still be nice and safe whether or not they caught him.

99,5% of the people would give the encryption password or the memorized seed, if they face => 10 years prision and can trade coins vs. some years less

---->
- all Darknet/hacking/massive  "money laundering"/unregulated crypto bonds/CP related busts in the US or people who get extradited to US will give up their coins, because they will always face => 10 years
- coins by busted people in the free world like EU or South America facing 1 till 5 years prison are safe this way

Unless the FBI has hacked into your computer, six months earlier, and the wallet software that you installed on your offline computer is a doctored version that picks keys from a predefined list.  Or unless you are kidnapped by gangsters who offer you a more convincing deal.  Or unless the police shows you what a Brazilian prison looks like.

4% arbitration now possible between Cryptsy ($391) and Bitstamp ($377) for about 600 BTC worth...

Cryptsy just opened $US deposits with DebitWay today...
