What a joke, moderator deletes comments mentioning any alts yet lets sock puppet after sock puppet post rubbish all day long.

Hint: Mods sold long time ago and are short. that's why sock puppets are being tolerated!

That's because socks are not against the forum rules.  Folks make money buying and selling accounts, with full forum/mod approval.
The "we ain't doing it to scam" backstory is built on the premise that those accounts are used to spam the forum with signature ad campaigns.

Yes most mods are very early adopters & sold ages ago probably making a shit load of cash.
They probably HODL very few BTC & know that BTC could be huge so want the price to crash so they can stock up again.

I'm not moaning about there being socks in the first place I'm saying its a joke that my posts would be deleted as presumably off topic but the rubbish the socks and trolls post isn't. This is the de facto anything goes topic and has been for well over a year.

the fun part about the alts is ... they're all priced in btc ... so if btc ultimately fails / severely loses value , so does every single alt coin ...

I'm also not fan of altcoins, but to be the devils' advocate: Altcoins could have a better performance (compared to BTC), so it could make sense to invest in them. Also, there may be an altcoin - at some point in the future - that could prove to be more successful than Bitcoin in general!

in general i agree with that as far as the possibility goes of an alt being more profitable short term than btc ... actually much of my gains have been as a result of alt p&d and mining of alts ... probably my best alt gain i bought 1btc worth of fluttercoin at 100 satoshi and sold out at nearly 3000 satoshi , just barely missing the peak ... it's today trading at less than 100 and the dev abandoned it , as is typical for most of the scam alts ... it's totally fucked trading most of those things ... and the notion that they are long term "investments" is truly a joke ... their bubbles typically last give or take a week , during which time you cannot leave your screen , and ultimately collapse very very quickly ... it's really like playing a game of chicken and you'd better be selling really fast when the eventual collapse inevitably happens ...

* thanks for getting rid of blatant alt shilling in the btc trollbox thread

alt are also sucking money from btc which suck money from fiat, alt are another reason why btc price is low, people see alt as a better gambling then bitcoin(faster P&D there) and they invest a lot(well now much less because of all the scam coins released)

market dilution at its finest

If that logic is good, and BTC is priced in USD, then if the USD fails/severely loses value Huh SO WOULD BTC!
And here I was, cheering the doom of that fiat economy... and now I gotta prop up the USD just to keep my BTC alive?

mmmm yes kind of ... putting your btc into alts is functionally the same , in terms of effect on the btc market , as simply buying and holding anyway ... the alts simply allow people to give their btc to other people ... that btc doesn't really get destroyed ... if anything btc earmarked for alt trading and set aside for such purpose can be considered to have a beneficial effect on btc price , since it's being held/not sold at this time thus reducing overall selling pressure ...

in general , a collapse of value in fiat currency (for example, the u.s. dollar becomes worth 100x less than it's worth today) would have a detrimental effect on the value of btc , since it really wouldn't track the change in value directly since it's not the only alternative store of value - you could expect to see at best perhaps a 50x increase in btc value (on paper) if something like that were to occur - it would still buy you 1/2 as much ... so no ... we should not be cheering for fiat collapse - we need to be cheering for fiat conversion

There are those who claim Bitcoin was created by the NSA as the ultimate honeypot.  The reasoning goes something like this:

1.  Bitcoin attracts the criminal element <==prima facie, empirically substantiated, currently held axiomatic.
2.  Those attracted to Bitcoin are criminals <==somewhat of a logical leap, but again, shown to be true in 99% of the cases.  Remaining 1% are weirdos who like losing money, so who cares.
4.  Bitcoin is instrumental in fighting crime by impoverishing those who hold it. <==not life-affirming, handicapping the criminal contingent.
5.  What's more, criminals pay for their own demise (arrest->confiscate BTC->sell BTC (to criminals, who else)->rinse->repeat). <==PROFIT!

Bitcoin is best crime-fighting tool ever, Q.E.D. Undecided

No joke.  A year ago, at the NY hearings, the FBI testified that they were not worried about bitcoin, so I read.  To this day, I have not read of anyone from US law enforcement calling for it to be banned.  Not even after the ransomware attacks against government offices.

Objectively, catching Ross Ulbricht must have been much easier than catching a traditional drug dealer, since much of the investigation could have been done remotely, by agents sitting at their desks, with hot coffee and donuts at hand...

no, because bitcoin isn't attached only to usd, but to fiat in general, and its value is indipendent anyway, we give value to btc basing on fiat, but if all fiat currencies crash, we can give btc a value based on goods, we don't need fiat actually

and yes , of course if *all* fiat currencies experience simultaneous collapse alongside *all* commodity markets , leaving no other viable alternative store of value other than btc (a highly unlikely basically apocalyptic fantasy scenario) ... then yes , we would expect the overall value of btc to drastically increase

Ah, I see.  But altcoins can't be traded for other altcoins, goods or fiat?  That sure makes them less attractive Sad

i'd really love to see , and wish i had the capital to create this - an exchange that prices all of the alts in fiat currency values , not btc values - presumably this has got to be in the works , somewhere , the drawback is basically a btc/alt exchange is a lot easier to establish regulatory-wise than a fiat/alt exchange

I see you got my post deleted. I'm guessing you're either american or german since there seems to be some irony deficiency at play here. Let me spell it out for you: I thought what you achieved was very impressive. Good on you!
