Everyone knows the best way to acquire more of something is to sell all of that something you currently possess. Catnip prices too high? Sell all your catnip and watch global catnip prices plummet. Re-buy at the bottom and own ALL the catnip. Very easy!
These whales are not so clever; WeltMaster has them all figured out!

do people do this with stocks...and is that even legal in a regulated stock market? Wouldn;t this be price manipulation?

There's zero regulation pertaining to any area of the crypto market hence the hail storm of altcoins that are out to fleece people and the endless pumping and dumping for BTC.

Forex is a better comparison. There's much less regulation for even the biggest markets compared to stocks.

wow so there is really no point in speculating the price of bitcoins because of these damn whales manipulating the price...

IT SHOULD BE $10,000 per each coin by now if it weren't for their fat coins!!

Well, we don't even know whether there are any truly legit exchanges. The whole thing is mired in fog and bollocks. A fair price might arrive one day when there are markets that can be trusted. Until then the whole thing is the plaything of a small number of people who do what they want.

It will be if enough people need them, regardless of whales.

So if a bigger player such as a big bank comes into play then i guess we can see the price sky rocket?

If there is any real demand for BTC, the price will go up. Whales cannot prevent this. So, the price is falling now from lack of demand - manipulation is only a byproduct of price action.

Does anybody know if there is/was a forum where you could go 24/7 to tell pre-ipo facebook investors that their investment is a fad, because nobody would be using it, because they could meet their friends in real life or sms/call them, and tell those investors every second of the the day that somebody did not update their facebook status so it was probably dying?

Can anyone direct me to the forum where Facebook stockholders discuss how to convince their parents and friends to use Facebook, in order to prevent its share price from falling?
