Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

FYI to all, right now from 7 days ago we are down 26%. From 3 days ago we are down 32%. In the last 24 hours, we are down 2.99%. From 30 days ago, we are up 106.43%.

This is with China news triggering a huge selloff that would have devastated the price in April.

That news did not define an outright ban in bitcoin and many of the attributes the chinese investors and people from around the world found attractive have not changed.

agreed. Markets are an amazing thing.

I'm often reminded of the way flocks of birds move almost as a single entity despite being made of hundred of autonomous entities.

china crisis hit us hard and we were in full on panic mode yet @550 the market decided woohoo cheap coins! I still think anything under 1000 is cheap coins. Not sure if we'll make 4 figures next week but we'll come close.

The crisis was imaginary. What happened in China was actually good news.

FYI, bear pennant.

What defines whether a pennant is bullish or bearish? The previous trend?

Regardless, TA is just one of many factors to consider.

Yes, previous trend

The volume from these last buys doesn't make it look like a bear pennant on volume charts

not going to argue if it was or wasn't. The important thing is that the market saw it as bad.

Could be that the market is changing their opinion about it now.

Some decent buys coming through again, market feeling confident?

Just some idiot manipulator trying to protect his stupid investment by propping the price up.

Why do people keep thinking this?   The system has so much money in it that we do not need new money to come in for a run up.   We have had some Sundays with incredible gains.   Sunday is a day where people buy back in expecting new money on Monday.   Smart new money won't be dumped into market buys this time though, but parked in bids, or held on the sideline.   This could cause a dip throughout the beginning of the week, as expectations for new money to "save" us are unrealized.   We've seen it before.   I hope people are smarter this time, but I am not holding my breath.   As always I am all BTC, as I will not take part in activities that damage something I believe in, but people just need to stop expecting the new money to be the savior.   We don't need it, and whether we see it right away or not, the money is coming in . . .

I don't think any of us could say it was good news but we could probably agree that is wasn't as bad as people made out initially.

Couple of randomish points: People in china are still using QQ coins pretty widely and the black market economy of china is probably bigger than the gdp of several eu nations.
