Actually the CHINEESE were not the only sole cause of the price jump. The Silkroad was BOOMING at that time. Another "silkroad" 3.0 is coming soon and it will drive the price up again just watch.

SilkRoad was busted in early Oct/2013.  Some (not me) claim that the bust actually helped the price, because it dispelled the perception of "currency of drug users and criminals".

But SilkRoad may have been responsible for the famous Mar/2011 bubble.  I gather that SR started operating on Jan/2011, so the timing seems compatible.

If that was the case, it would be useful to understand why that bubble deflated almost completely through the rest of 2011.  Understanding that decay could perhaps help us understand the downtrend of 2014, which is often compared to it.
2011 was a penny stock pump&dump, that's the reason it deflated.
But still, marketcap was still nothing and it could easily be pumped a lot higher after some time.

Now situation is different. To pump this thing a lot more funds are necessary. Inflation at $500-$1000 is insane so nobody in his right mind would pump this shit knowing that it won't go anywhere anyway. So it probably won't happen.

edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Highland_Bagpipe

Quote
In 1746, after the forces loyal to the Hanoverian government had defeated the Jacobites in the Battle of Culloden, King George II attempted to assimilate the Highlands into Great Britain by weakening Gaelic culture and the Scottish clan system,[4] though the oft-repeated claim that the Act of Proscription 1746 banned the Highland bagpipes is not substantiated by the text itself, nor by any record of any prosecutions under this act for playing or owning bagpipes.

Bitcoin allows things to happen that were not before possible.

I'm still surprised that you, as a person who was involved with the early computer/internet revolution, do not see the value in this.

Not really, he understands how it's mostly a fad, unlike others here who are just pumping their investment.

If you think what you just said, I would appreciate you answer the points I raised in my post here.

Is it time to buy yet? Dont want to miss the time when it will be confirmed to go up from there forever.

Only dinosaur TA can determine the true bottom.

We need more dinosaurs!

*I'm imagining right now a big ass Brontosaurus who had his neck down taking a sip from the lake now raising his head to take a look around*

A MACD dinosaur was already spotted on the 19th... you may have already missed the train...

For those who missed it (time zone UTC+1):

Definitely some big fish. Whether it was just a pump attempt or insider info, we'll see, but I guess I'm not leaving any asks up for the night.

The bags of said grotesque instruments are often made of complete lamb hides, like these repulsive rafts made by the savage & primitive azhuns.

You know who else liked to use "animal" skins for cutesy crafts?  HITLER an ED GEIN, THAT'S WHO!
"There are two notable allegations of lampshades made from human skin: the debated Nazi lampshade and the confirmed trophy of Ed Gein."

Our exchanges are run by amateurs and criminals and they are the biggest bottleneck in Bitcoin's valuation.

bitstamp: i trying to stay away from there. i know they think amazon is good security but i don't share their belief's. if they get hacked again who's fault is it ?? blame on amazon ?? they are a bunch of amateurs over there at bitstamp.

That's quite the post, but as I was skimming through it, I did find one thing to comment on,

"So why should the average Joe put up with bitcoin’s volatility and the possibility of having his funds easily stolen (if he has to move his money around, you can’t just keep it in cold storage forever you know) and no consumer protection?
Why?"

You assume that I want mass adoption. I don't.

You assume that I want to cater to the average Joe. I don't.

I am simply looking for a better alternative to the system that has been forced upon me since birth.

I was born, coincidentally, at the exact time that the US decided to completely detach their fiat currency from any connection with anything of real value.

I don't blame anyone for not teaching me about the way the world works. I blame myself for not learning about it earlier.

Good luck sticking with the "average Joe's" it's ok, the government will take care of everything. I'm sure it will all turn out fine.

The only thing that you are saying in that post is that companies accept bitcoin to self-promote themselves by using a currency that is only used to buy drugs and child porn.
A "store of value" is to be considered over a long time period, not 1 year, considering this, it seems to do it's job. Not only was it able to store value, it also created value.
People also have been saved by bitcoin, because the traditional system said "FUCK YOU".

Guys why are you shouting MOON when we have moved few dollars up?  Grin i am missing the days when MOON and CCMF actually meant something  Smiley

Welcome to a (maybe) slightly more sane market, my friend Cheesy ... 50% up (bottom to peak) in 10 days is nothing to sneer at...

Not saying we will never see another crazy rally like in the old times, but the higher the total network valuation gets, and the more sophisticated traders (and the instruments provided to them) become, the more the crypto market will resemble more traditional ones. Assuming the bottom is in finally, it'd probably be better if the market reacts less 'bubbly' from here on.

Can't stay a penny stock forever, that's what I'm trying to say Cheesy

EDIT: Just saw the post now... this man gets it:

The proliferation of financial instruments that allow for hedging and short positions have come a long way since the days of ZhouTong.

I expect hope for a brutally incessant march upwards with many retracements and opportunities along the way.
