Volume on Gemini down to almost nothing again.

i would blame the weekend for that. no fiat->no trade.
Wonder how the other exchanges manage? Perhaps by... but no, that's just crazy talk.

as far as i know the other exchanges are a little older than 2 weeks.

Looks like this correction after the pump could potentially take us below 260. That'd be disappointing but not a disaster. It will be a shame if the price can't stay in the 250's range though.

Fiat vanishes from Gemini over the weekends? Institutional Investors caught unawares by bank holiday? Again?
After a few months of this weekend thing happening every week like clockwork, they'll likely catch on.
I remain cautiously optimistic Cool

prices last week on gemini showed a big gap towards other exchanges. the reason is pretty obv, fiat pouring in immediately panic bought btc no matter what premium they had to pay. therefore no fiat at the weekend on gemini. pretty simple.

as the workweek at the eastcoast starts exactly NOW, it will be interesting to see the next hours if the volume starts to rise again.

One aspect people aren't talking about, Christmas is coming up in 2 months, don't think for a second that the wealthy class are not any much more different than you and me. If they think they can make some money and bring home a nice holiday sack of money for their families they will.

Mining is not decentralized at all. If few people control (own) mining facilities in China and the rest of the world - this is not decentralization - even is none of them controls more than 10% of hashpower.

Bitcoin security model is based around fault recovery instead of fault prevention.  It fails often, as in the case of Ghash getting 50% hash rate that one time, then transient miners fix it.  In the future, there would probably be agencies that monitor hash rate and warn retailers about transacting in large amounts of money during periods of activity like that.  Just like you might not want to move a bunch of gold with a tornado outside.

It's funny how people think these guys haven't been talking to Wall St.'s biggest whales for the last few years.

No one just willy nilly pursues and opens a licensed Bitcoin exchange if they didn't have customers waiting in the wings to use it.

But I'm sure the brothers Wink simply misspoke while describing Gemini's core demographic. What they meant to say was 'Chinese gamblers and Indian ponzi enthusiasts.'

For lel?
To highlight the desperate apologia when, once again, all hopes of Big Business rescuing bitcoiners from their Bitcoin misadventures are hilariously shattered?
