where else is going through what venezuela is?

good luck jimbo, come back stronger & better!

The situation in Venezuela is result of "easy life" the ordinary latin americans generally look for. Here in Brasil the same thing risked to happen four elections in a row when people chose the labor party commanded by Lula and Dilma. The difference is that the entrepreneur class is stronger within politics and Dilma was impeached before things could get out of control, but we were toward the same direction. Still our economy has not recovered from 13 years under labor party rules. Leftists find uneducated people struggling to survive and desperate to get rid from the same entrepreneur class that saved the economy but usually enslaves the population. So promises of easy state-controlled life is happily swallowed and people elects left parties. Venezuela decline started with Hugo Chavez, and now democracy is gone and no hope is left for that population.

To think that western societies actually believe in that shit. But I guess you need to feel marxism on your own skin before you open your eyes

Venezuela is the best sky-open laboratory Bitcoin could ever have. It shows how cryptocurrencies will take place in case of economic blackout. I'm from Brasil and we are close watching our neighbor's situation, and Bitcoin has been a relief to people because of the risk of buying physical dollars. More than that, as energy is subsided, it's cheap to mine there, although it's very risky, since govmt has shut down several mining facilities and arrested people with unreal charges...

They catch people because of high electricity usage.

Too bad they don't have Lightning Network yet, they could run a node and not worry about the police.

LN is the silver bullet? lmfao :-D suuuure brah

This might be my best blog post I humbly think.

Bitcoin Introspection

edit: Please have a read. I elaborate the problems with onchain and offchain scaling and what I view to be the solution.

I am curious about Japan first. They had been on ZIRP or close to it for at least 2 decades.
A pop in interest rates might be very painful there.
Therefore, legalization of bitcoin and hundreds of thou or merchants accepting it by summer might be considered as building a possible safety net.

They have about the highest debt to gdp of any of the troubled countries. But they don't have millions of unwashed welfare immigrants to deal with, and they are intelligent. Will not be the first to drop.

Been away for a short while and I see the price isn't looking too bad. I'm no techy so speak simply but....what's the situation with segwit and BU? What have I missed?

Thanks in advance.

as for segwit and BU
Why Bitcoin doesn’t need a solution

seems like....
if fundamentals were negative then yes it has changed and quickly,
From the recent fud back to positive where it was a a month ago

reasons bitcoin is broken sounds like propaganda
Major Japan retailers and kimdotcom are smart peeps, they would not hedge their money on something that is broken

I've been too busy to watch the show but every time I check the score we're further ahead.

How's that for mixing metaphors?

Edit: just hit $1600CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Now that's entertaining. Cool

Further, it is argued that Segregated Witness would, as a bi-product of its code, make this specific technique obsolete.

Oh look, 1200. How nice.

I think nothing can stop bitcoin now. I surrender. I already said that i never go into fiat again but now i also never go into altcoins again. Whats the point of going into altcoins when even Jihan Wu and a hardfork cant keep the price down?
