You guise are taking shiny baubles for Manhattan

Isn't Manhattan the shiniest among all baubles?

Well indeed. Thats why when the cleverer, richer, stronger people turn up - who can see that and are necessary to help build it - you'll regret trading them the most glittering future for a tawdry game show prize or a used Mercedes.

Some trade is necessary, of course: pizzas and space trips to show that it's functional and redeemable, but they're statements. Being able to resist near-term temptations for long-term gain is what makes us intelligent animals. You don't eat your seeds if you're just peckish.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nice to see we're creeping up again... currently $1235USD (Bitcoinaverage).

It's almost time to start thinking about gold ounce parity again. Then we can think about $1300 and on toward a new ATH.

Go Bitcoin go.

Currently no fiat withdrawals on Bitfinex, no matter the currency:

Quote
Hi, this is Chris from Bitfinex. I'm really sorry about these delays and the confusion. I have just spoken to the management and this is what I have learned. cc /u/nomadismydj

TL;DR Bitfinex were led to believe by the bank that outgoing wires were possible using CHF and HKD. In fact the vast majority of these wires were rejected over the course of the last week. The team are now arranging a final resolution with the bank to gain custody of the funds and will make announcement in a few hours.

Longer version: Most of the wires that were attempted in CHF and HKD were rejected since last Friday. The bank led iFinex to believe that the wires were possible but the day after the first ones were processed management were asked to provide more documentation, for example a letter from the iFinex client that they can accept CHF. Management then had to resubmit the wire after the bank holiday weekend and was then told that the standard documentation provided wasn't enough.

The whole process was frustrating and lacked clear communication. iFinex are now making arrangements to gain custody of all the funds and have them sent to their attorneys so that they can finally be restored to the customer with minimal delay. New banking partnerships are also being worked on at the same time.

Goes without saying that cryptocurrency withdrawals and deposits are unaffected. Trading is also going well as some people report making killing on the lending rates.

A formal statement will follow in a few hours. Someone from the team will be online to take questions on Whalepool Teamspeak later today.

The positive is that Bitcoin's price has not nosedived following the announcement.
When people can withdraw cryptocurrencies from Bitfinex, it really doesn't matter.

Of course it didnt nose dived. People need to buy btc to get their fiat out of Bitfinex. So BTC's price will go up because of Bitfinex. Question is when they are going to dump their BTC that they didnt want to buy in the first place.

Mornin' Ted.

Yes, it's a good day for Bitcoin but every day's a good day for Bitcoin.

If the price rises, your holdings increase in value. If it dips, it's a buying opportunity.

Gotta go now. Afternoon game. Hafta be at the SkyDome in half an hour. Luckily they provide free wifi so I can check the prices between innings. What a life!

Bitfinex is shooting up for whats seems like a bad reason.  The deposit stops.  Has people selling and moving coins out.  Their cold wallet is apparently down to 70K or so from 140k+ coins here in no time.  If this occurs they will likely "implode" when selling is done and price will drop down way lower to where other exchanges are...

Something is just wrong.
