Anyone have any news on mtgox? It is way past the point in which they are solvent again. I want my money back already.

you saw this right?   http://blog.wizsec.jp/

Yup. But how does it change the fact that they are solvent now?

So is this the shitcoin top, or is the coup de grâce still to be seen?

I feel like the grand finale is still coming. Like right before SegWit activates. Or maybe that's what everyone else is thinking too.

i'm holding a bit to be sure

I've sold all my BCH already at 0.2, BCH might go up to 0.3 or even 0.4 BTC just like ETC did relative to ETH but I'm not taking any chances. I just don't see a future long term for BCH. Roger and co imo are just pumping BCH to try and gather attention away from Segwit activation on BTC and attract more miners to their altcoin with the upcoming difficulty adjustment. I think there will be a dump after difficulty adjusts 110 blocks from now (around 24-36 hours), so I will be trading the swings for a while to try and get some more BTC. Smiley

I'm not a BCH supporter but I don't think this is going away guys. Yes it may drop Back to 200-300-400 or whatever but this coin will be pumped at various times in the months to come IMO.

I am risking hodling this coin. How many other Alts pumped at the beginning and then lay dormant for ages before blasting up? Answer- the majority of them.

With Jihan and Ver in charge I can't see it failing like you all think. Didn't a lot of people say after the exchanges opened be quick to sell as it's going to plummet down to "cents"?

As I've said, I'll hodl as I think this alt will go up and shock/upset a few later on, manipulated or not.

They just took a snapshot of Bitcoin blockchain at 1 Aug and started building blocks on it with their custom rules.

Bitcoin didn't fork. THEY created a completely separate fork, which is not the same.

You have this exactly backwards. Bitcoin Cash is exactly a fork of Bitcoin. No different in any conceptual way than any core release which changed some aspect of the protocol. Certainly a smaller change than the introduction of segwit.

Yeah I'm Tier 3 with only a couple of hundreds euros available, and no intention to sell bitcoins of any flavor. On the other hand for some reason my application for Tier 2 at Poloniex is stuck for more than a month (ticket opened, did what they asked, still stuck) so every day for more than 40 days now I'm withdrawing funds, tiring !

So... If I go now and create my own "Bitcoin" fork with my own rules, and start building blocks on it... Will you say Bitcoin has forked again?

If I take BCH blockchain, add Segwit and another more extreme difficulty adjustment, and keep building blocks on it... Have BCH forked enabling Segwit?

No, it is just me doing my own fork.

Yes, BCH is a third party fork based on Bitcoin blockchain and code (loosely, as it doesn't have Segwit which is a critical enhacement).

My point is that Bitcoin has not forked. I didn't even see a single orphaned block because of that suppossed HF that happened to BTC.

When the time for Segwit2X comes, well, it is a possibility that Bitcoin forks. I hope it doesn't.

Anyway, you guys now have your "ideal" coin. Just keep swapping BTC for BCH and take advantage of its lower price vs Bitcoin before it is too late?

Actually crypto price is all based on the belief of users. They have no intrinsic value.

BCH allows miners to diversify, maybe that will be a good thing in the long run.

I can't say I'm upset that my BCH are now worth real money, but I still consider it's not worth anything, that way if it dies I'm fine with it. I will still hold it though, as a protection if somehow it's BTC that dies instead.

If a small group can affect the bitcoin market like this, what chance has it long term against bigger players?

What makes you think that the Bitcoin Cash advocates are a small group? All y'all might do well to get out of the theymos-controlled echo chambers from time to time.

Actually crypto price is all based on the belief of users. They have no intrinsic value.

You're only half right. Belief on the part of all users is a big component. But the other part is the strength of the protocol and network holding it all together. The Bitcoin network itself does have intrinsic value, and reinforces the belief part. They rely on, depend on and reinforce each other.

But the price alone does not dictate a crypto's value. Anyone, literally anyone, can create a crypto and pump it to the moon with enough money. I.E., create a crypto with a high number of pre-mined units, release only a tiny, controlled float onto an exchange, and buy it back from themselves. Voila, instantly high market cap! This is the literal definition of a penny stock pump and dump.

Only 3 weeks in and http://bccforums.net , the Bcash equivalent of Bitcointalk, is already setting the world on fire.

I make no secrets of why I got involved with bitcoin. I know some people here are die hard core supporters but I am totally neutral. I understand what's happening with all the politics and how to use btc etc but when it comes down to the very inner workings I get a bit lost. I can see the dislike for BCH and ver and wu. The whole situation pisses me off too but I am here firstly to make money, or should I say increase my investments. I'd rather not turn my profits to fiat at all.

All I am saying is I am hedging my bets and hodling both to see the outcome. If BCH gets pumped to the moon then great. It's not as low as all the core fans said it would go so I think I'll make my own decisions with BCH from now on.

I am not a core supporter or WuVer coin fanboy. I am neutral.

I am neutral.

Well then, you are just in it to make more fiat. Like the stock market, you don't really care about the underlying asset.

Not saying that is good or bad. But then I would say you are definitely not one of the minds that are reinforcing Bitcoin's belief system as a (better?) form of money.

Also what, pray tell, will you do, when someone decides to fork BCH? Oh the decisions, decisions. Tsk tsk...

So... If I go now and create my own "Bitcoin" fork with my own rules, and start building blocks on it... Will you say Bitcoin has forked again?

Yes. Exactly. Of course, unless you reach some critical mass of adoption, your fork is irrelevant.
