Regulations are walls against competition, the banks practically invented the modern walled-garden, the Central Banks turned every nation into a walled-garden.

The problem with walls is they can work both ways. The banks, and especially the Central banks, are now trapped into impending irrelevancy by the most massive financial walls of their own making, monopoly money.

Situation still muddy.

My guess: it was just a wave of FUD that's being milked while still possible - that is, until the Chinese government issues another generic release about investor safety. Tighter regulations might be coming, but I don't think it's going to be an issue after the smoke curtain dissolves.

Bitcoin.de is special since they only arrange trades between private people. So it's not like on kraken or bitstamp where the lowest aks price is filled and than the order book up.

You can place your 6k€ Order there and a friend of you can pick this special order (ignoring all lower offers) and fullfill this order. When both parties mark the trade es successfull (maybe even without transfering a single euro) the buyer gets the Bitcoins (minus the bitcoin.de fee) and the trade is done.

So it's easy to "paint the tape" on bitcoin.de

This was addressed years ago, early on in their deployment. I believe someone was questioned by the police about a package and the item was taken by the police.

After that they created a guarantee on all purchases up to $10,000 and I assume have taken some measures to prevent this. I've used it for years and never had a problem.
