I will say turning on the radio last night in my bitcoin car and hearing the Bloomberg guy say "Hey buddy, wanna buy some bitcoin...." at the top of the hour almost made me drive off the road laughing....

But this is silly: CNN: Bitcoin boom may be a disaster for the environment. What will happen is more efficient miners will be built, or the halvening will slow down the mining rate. Difficulty will adjust down as needed and that will be that. A bigger problem though is transaction clearing time, I just moved a bit to buy some equipment before end of year (tax deductible and I need this stuff) and it still hasn't confirmed.

If this keeps up I may have to use Litecoin.

You have a bitcoin car?

It hit 15k last night?

At what point would a whale not sell simply because there is not enough room to stick all the fiat somewhere? I joke about the Lambo thing, and how many you can fit in a driveway, but really doesn't the utility value of money just go out the window at some point?

That is an interesting point and in fact I think it is already happening somehow. Why to sell when you already have a bunch of spare millions in your account?

Same could be applied to lesser stashes that already feel that they have cashed much more than they really need in the short/medium term.

The spread between GDAX and Bittrex is now $1,200 --- am I missing something with Bittrex, do they accept USD deposits?  I can't figure out how to link my bank account.

Or can you only move coins there to sell/buy.

Either big institutions are buying on GDAX (too short later) or Average Joy is just too dumb to use another exchange, price premium ~10%  Shocked

to short later? if so thats an enormous gamble on their part, and one which could easily backfire spectacularly.

Mempool is growing bigtime. Make sure to include a good fee for quick confirmation.

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#24h

I have 2 fairly large transactions totally stuck - even though I put them through as 'fast' by believing my BTC Core wallet's advice.

Nothing confirmed for hours - what fees actually WORK right now - anyone recommend a site to suggest accurate fee requirements?

Feeling very stupid...

Viabtc has a Tx accelerator. It only accepts 100 tx every hour, and it fills up very fast. But it has been very useful to me, especially when the rates are excessively expensive.

Jim Cramer souring and pooping on Bitcoin again. When he talks, it's almost if you can hear the stupid escaping from his ears. Such a punch-able face that guy has.

https://finance.yahoo.com/video/cramer-bitcoin-monopoly-money-pure-140400088.html

I'm sure if Bitcoin crashes, he'll be the one out there screaming I told ya so.  Roll Eyes

I'm surprised yahoo took the time out to NOT whine about Trump and the end of the world for 30 seconds.

So that guy is moaning that Bitcoin is just like gambling. Isn't that what most of the banking / trading / lending business is about.

You "invest" or "lend" money for a potential higher return.

You could get run over by a bus tomorrow and never see that return. Most things in life that carry the greatest rewards are about gambling or at least taking some risk I reckon. One gambles with their money but more so with their time or effort usually.

I think he's irritated because he's known for talking about corporate equities in terms of their "valuation" due to "earnings". That's his whole entire shtick.

So he can't talk about Bitcoin in terms of valuation publicly, because:

1) he can't talk about why it's better than fiat, gold, or other stores of value/ forms of currency. That runs counter to the whole bankster-controlled, stock market racket that he's a part of.

and

2) he doesn't know how to value it. Bitcoin doesn't behave like an equity. It's also not "gameable" like equities are.

Bitcoin breaks the mold. It also breaks (and hopefully exposes) the great scam/lie that is the U.S. stock market. I could go on for hours about that, but I won't.

maybe I'm viewing things too simple but
1: accumulate "cheap coins" (>1 Mrd$) (i observed the GDAX premium behavior in both directions since ~1 month, whales testing sensitivity of the market?)
2: buy short future contract
3: dump all the coins
4. profit

I dont get why a 5K bottom is so unbelievable. We were just there only 24 days ago before we went supra-parabolic, after already having the CME news, and have not seen a correction since. Its where the 1W EMA is. It's all the criteria for a crash target. Its actually an extremely generous bottom, and the call SHOULD be 3K or even 2K. There has never been a crash that preserved more than 50% of the past ATH.

I've been paying around 280sat/byte, and they've been flying through today.

i am lost. what is going on, whee will it stop? will the red crater candle that is awaiting us punch a hole through everyones desk and floor?

I think so. This is n00bville territory now.

The whole mainstream media will do that. No doubt about that.
"We told you so" will be written everywhere!
And then they will continue with their stupid FUD, lies and embrace "controlled crypto currencies". Whatever that will be and look like. Cheesy

I use https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

Looks like it's a heafty fee to get the job done quick

Yeah - I just sent some of the unspent change over with a 271 / byte tx fee in the hope it would unlock the previous transactions with a tempting fee, but it still looks grim for the lot - no confs on that either!.

I could have it all stuck for days.  I reckon it's a risk to send anything under 300 sats / b at this rate - steady as you go with trying to send any BTC around, you could be waiting a long time!
