so 850 is the new floor imo.
We saw total panic tonight and yet once we approached 850 buyers started perking up.
From my experience since 2010 in Bitcoin economy, the mining always lag behind and its always catching up to ATH. In short, it raise the level of support. Mining is getting more costly so is the bottom of btc price.

Ok, I think we're bottoming (head and sholders bottom or something). Soon those who are still waiting for even lower prices will realize they wont happen. It's over. They'll jump back in and in no time we'll be posting pics of trains Wow you turn up at the end of the party, clueless as to what caused the price drop and proceed to vomit some technical analysis crap onto us. Bulls impress me more and more every day! Why are you here? If bitcoin is doomed, then go away, you are wasting your own and everyone else's time. I don't ignore many, but you are a special case. Molecular is a respected long time poster, you, not so much. Ahh so it's immaterial what tripe someone actually says, but as long as their post count is high you will listen? That should serve you well mate. When did I say bitcoin was doomed? Short term bear, long term bull. now don't get upset because you failed to appreciate that the price of bitcoin can go down as well as up. I have held coins since 2011, I think I know a thing or two about going down. It is in fact good to correct/consolidate after new highs. It just gets SO tiring listening to your constant drivel, just so you can feel like you are moving the market so you can get your cheap coins. Also, it would serve the newbs well to listen to established bitcoiners over other newbs. If I were trading based on your posts, or molecular's, molecular's would have made me far more money . . . If you based your trade's on anyone's posts other than your own research then your an idiot. I'm not so naive enough as to think anything I say can sway anyone's decisions on a forum thread, that's simpleton material. It's 'you're' not 'your' - if you want to insult someone, it helps to spell it right.... The grammar in this thread is, quite honestly, atrocious. Inversely proportional 'beer consumed / spelling ability' factor? Or just ignorance?

LOL approached 850? Don't you mean after we got spat out of a gox failsafe loop for an hour which blocked any trading below $829? It's worth noting ever other exchange sat frozen for half an hour waiting for gox to take the lead again before making any moves back up. Sorry I'm talking about reality not your fantasy world where you buy all the coins for 10c and are crowned emperor of the universe.

It completely killed the momentum of the dip, who knows where gox would have stopped, it was certainly headed for 700.

Lol @ The bug at MTGox hasn't "saved" the crash. WTF. Having an insecure big exchange will lead to a lower overall price. So we'd be higher now without Gox' fuck up.

Most newbs are simpletons, not experienced traders. They do indeed listen to what is said on this forum, no matter how stupid that is.

Agreed. The bears are just as bad as the most optimistic bulls.

If Bitcoin can sustain these prices without China, I'd be very surprised. I have a feeling it's going to be a long and nasty weekend.

+1 It looks a scarily immature system for anyone to feel secure in investing in, if the 'major' and best known exchange is not remotely reliable

mtgox rollback on any big sell orders, so I really don't expect any crash soon... the only way to see a lower price now is a loooong downtrend period be bull or die

LOL BS? sorry I forgot I was surrounded by a bunch of blinkered bulls who were voting only last week that we would never see triple digits again. Talk about BS. Honestly, nothing more depressing than a thread full of bulls eating humble pie. You know you've got them when their correcting your spelling.

Bitcoin is not "without China". Bitcoin is without Chinese banks. Understand?

China is still very much in the picture. They are still free to buy it! That's bullish IMO because Bitcoin has such insane ROI. Who doesn't want a piece?

How many times does Bitstamp need to bounce from 0.800 before people realize it's the new floor? Every bounce (3 so far) adds to the strength of the support, and it is already in the Titanium level, comparable to molecular's left nut. Buying at 0.800 is better EV than buying at 1.000. From 1 it can go either way, but from 0.800 it always goes up, and the 10% probability not included in "always" is only that it will dip to 0.6 for a few hours. Nothing to be scared of.

Guys... I have been reading all this back and forth for months and all I can say is this:
Bitcoin is a VOLATILE beast. There are aspects to it which scream manipulation (gox loops / BTC-e hack back etc.). Although, name me one global market that does not have some form of manipulation.
Bitcoin is also a dynamic technical innovation, and with it brings disruption to existing systems. This means it will take time for it to establish a "utilitarian" price -whatever it may be. And as the network grows, so will BTC's inherent utility.
In the meantime, can we just accept that no matter how much research we have done, or how much faith we have, BTC is a calculated risk (aka an investment). Treat it as such. If you want to day-trade go to FX. If you want to sell your home and put it all into BTC, go to Vegas and put it all on black you will at least save yourself the stress of watching the markets ping-pong.

I bet if you had few millions, and wanted to manipulate the market you would think twice now before dumping at Gox. Or be crazy enough to trust such huge sums in other exchanges? Not saying that it's good thing and i'm afraid to think what would happen if there was a more natural huge sell off and this feature kicked it preventing Gox users from exiting, but you can't argue that it's a not huge deterrent for massive manipulations
