Yeah it is annoying that they automatically change it to USD from BTC. Is this there way of marketing this feature to users by forcing them to have to make the change back?

Because you clicked on one of the BTC amounts which switches between BTC and $? Lol, might be, it's back to BTC again BTW, just did 3 withdrawals from Gox. 2 of 5 BTC ones went immediately into Blockchain, 3rd one of 10 BTC is still not there though it's only few minutes.

People are just realizing that BTC is better than Gox Bux no matter the price.
That's the best part. There more people understand bitcoin, the less need there will be for an exchange! Just use bitcoins straight!

The issue with Gox is not getting coins out, its getting fiat out. The govt/banks can't stop the flow of btc. People are just realizing that BTC is better than Gox Bux no matter the price. this goes back and forth, though. iirc, the spread in % terms has been higher than this but i am lazy to confirm. if there is a pronounced crash/downtrend, i think the spread will tighten up substantially.

We'll see, my BTC withdrawals so far from Gox were smooth, this last one is still not in blockchain though.

It's still kind of amazing to me that Gox is basically just one probably tiny office in Shibuya or something
Like if anyone was sufficiently furious and insane they could just sabotage the physical space and cause utter mischief
Meanwhile could it be that given the current value of BTC they've changed the limit of BTC withdrawals per-period without telling anyone? Verified limit per month is like $10k, that's just 10BTC now

Picking a nit on a presumed half-joke: you may make friends among the SI (metric system) guardians if you spell the unit names in lower case: "gavin", "satoshi", etc. Compare with "watt", "tesla", "farad" (rather than "Watt", "Tesla", "Faraday"). The symbol may be an uppercase letter, possibly followed by a lowercase letter, eg. "Gv" for "gavin" (compare "Hz" for "hertz"); but avoid combinations that may be confused with prefix+lowercase unit symbol, like "Gm" for "gigameter" or "Mb" for "megabit".

They have had problems with BTC also - I just went through four days of a transfer to my wallet that never arrived. I got it in the end - but as they used to say in Hill Street Blues 'Be careful out there..' Lots of lost transfers right now.

Yep, I had several OK withdrawals in last few days so I even called it bullshit earlier today here when someone said there are delays, but from 3 today, the last one went missing.

So, is the reason gox is climbing so high is because people are paying whatever to just get BTC and get out? Man, Im glad I did that when btc was around 100 or so, even then I took a 20 percent hit, but it was worth it.... So, when people are done transferring, will gox settle down to what the other exchanges are at?

i would expect it to come back down to about 10% difference like it was b4 once this settles.

It has been higher several times, but briefly. Komar made a nifty chart here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=432477On a percentage basis, it's been ratcheting up quickly since the new year. It might come down to the more normal 10-15% premium, but I've seen posts suggestion that JPY withdrawals and even slow SEPA withdrawals are having problems--we might be looking at the end. Wanna trade your Gox BTC to "GoxUSD" in the hopes of getting 10% vs. the odds of loosing 100%? I think lots of people don't like that bet.

Believe me, this is gaining momentum, there's 10,000 BTC in limbo right now. No ETA on when this problem will be fixed. It appears to affect larger transactions so anyone making small withdrawals won't be affected so much. check the #mtgox IRC channel, current rumour is that Mark has done a runner. Sounds like FUD to me though.
