I believe this facebook coin will fail. Only boomers uses facebook these days and they dont have a clue how cryptocurrencies work. They will treat it as some generic digital coin, like those you use inside MMOs for example. It will be restricted to facebook, which is a dying platform, practically an icon of nocoinery and technological backwardness.
Just a reminder that Facebook means also Instagram +Messenger+ WhatsApp, this widens user base quite a lot, not only Dads on the internet then.

In fact whatsApp is the killer app here for adding crypto transfers. The other ones I see more suitable for donations or something.

As soon (if) they open up the feature I see tens of millions of people using it even if just for giggles. If it will stick to a more voluminous usage it is something hard to predict.

I also expect facebook or *SOME SPONSORS* to carry out a little airdrop to get things started or order this product/fill this questionaire and receive x facecoins.

Telegram already widely supports crypto transfers by means of 3rd party bots.

As an example, the Pay NIM bot enables you to send a few NIMs to someone else. Since Nimiq (www.nimiq.com) is entirely web based, this is a breeze. Send a payment command to the bot, let the other user confirm in TG, open the link (that the bot provides) to the web based wallet, authorise the payment and done. The Nimiq checkout feature - meant for web shops, gambling sites or anything else requiring an online payment - is also smooth as f*.

Talking about existing ease of use of a blockchain...  Grin
And a market cap still at rock bottom  Shocked

But enough of the Alts.

why does the guy ignore?

She got cold somehow it seems.

I had a very similar situation on a very sunny and hot day in August 2 or 3 years ago. I was fine in the morning, I drank a beer, went to have some breakfast with friends then didn't even understand what hit me. The next thing I knew I started shaking. Went home, had a tight sleep for a day and then I went back to normal. Not even sure if it was cold since it was hot as fuck. Maybe it was the excessive heat. I remember it fucked me up when I was a kid too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

NEW: The top lawmakers on the House Financial Services Committee are targeting Facebook’s new cryptocurrency, #Libra. Chairwoman Maxine Waters says it’s another example of Facebook’s “unchecked expansion,” urges execs to testify and calls on FB to stop working on the currency.

Yeah, Airdrops will attract other social users just for fun. I can see thousands of people just want to test the new "global coin"  Smiley

So the consensus I've read is this facebook coin Libra is going to 'help' Bitcoin in its role as a 'store of value'. Does everyone buy this?

Just curious. I could see this 'maybe' if the facebook wallet for Libra would also allow the use of another crypto like BTC/LTC/ETH etc, etc.

that, however, seems very unlikely.

I still like the fact that it is $10 million dollars a 'node' to run the blockchain network for this Libra coin by facebook.

Also heard on NPR today that this coin will allow for tracking your spending and personal data, etc, etc. That seems 'convenient' as hell.

anyway, was wondering what folk think in the WO board here on bitcointalk?

whatever crypto always drama!

I've been preparing myself mentally for 8000.

I mean, there has to be a real pullback at some point to establish a higher low...right?

Perfect logic, yes.

Just 3 months ago, $8000 would have been considered by many ppl an unlikely dream so soon, so going back there is fine.. (even $7k is a 'very high' low)

I need to ask. Why the two satellite antennas oriented towards ground?

It's the southern hemisphere, that's why.
Oh wait what, it isn't? It's too much beer then.

Oh it’s proof that the UK is going to the hounds. I took the photo in Trafalgar Square a couple hours ago.  It’s two green men holding hands. Even the pope would be upset.

OK, I have to admit that is one of the moist RETARDED things I have ever seen.

Quote
The solitary “green man”, who has been featured on UK traffic lights since 1969, has now been joined by a male partner or replaced with two green women holding hands.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/706789/Gay-traffic-lights-leave-pedestrians-confused-Trafalgar-Square

From the article:

Quote
Mr Smith, of Preston, Lancashire, said: “When the light went green I saw the two female symbols and I thought, ‘Oh right, so my missus can cross with my little girl but what do me and the boy do?’

“This wouldn’t work up north. If you introduced this in Preston people wouldn’t know what you were going on about. I think it’s just a London thing really.”

There are all sorts of things that don’t work up North. Most of the population, for starters.

Its most likely linked to the gay pride marches in London and showing "solidarity"

It's ridiculous. You can't just change official traffic signs with random shit. What's next? Ads on it? Oh... wait!

Won’t someone think of the children ?

Year 2017 had a similar weekly candle set-up as the one today, which was followed by a 570% price increase over the next 147 days. Another similar price increase puts BTC price at ≈$62K by the end of October 2019.

https://twitter.com/galaxyBTC/status/1140576413180997632

This graph looks reasonable.

Going up to $60k then drops to $20-$40k ish.

Halving kicks in.

Bitcoin blast to $100k - $200k.

This is what I imagine aswell.

I've been running a few analysis methods to predict a top (that I also used in predicting previous bubble tops pretty damn accurately) and it came out at $55k-$60k if it were to happen this summer/fall

Fakecoins will just be another reason for the major social medias to be regulated - which they need - but it will be done in a way that is least desirable to normal people.

Of course someone is scared this Libra thing could actually work after all:

France Calls for Central Bank Review of Facebook Cryptocurrency

Quote
Facebook Inc.’s ambitious plan to roll out its own cryptocurrency ran into immediate political opposition in Europe, with calls for tighter regulation of the social-media giant.
French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said the digital currency known as Libra shouldn’t be seen as a replacement for traditional currencies.
“It is out of question’’ that Libra “become a sovereign currency,’’ LeMaire said in an interview on Europe 1 radio. “It can’t and it must not happen.”

I would classify this as Anger Stage in the Kübler-Ross model

This should work as a good legal test case, I wonder if it would be the US challenging it if it was pegged to the Franc. Cheesy

Maybe my broken English made me not clear: Libra is a KYC'd solution.
The KYC doesn't come from the protocol itself, but from the gateways used to access this protocol (wallets).
Well it comes off as: Not at protocol level and thus can be bypassed. This statement would be incorrect. It's good that you clarified though.
...

It should be interesting to find out if a hacked wallet can be run on it's network. Smiley

And the fees that "Alice" and "Bob" will pay in transactions round out Mr.FB business.

Zuckerberg is laughing all the way to the bank (the only person to truly benefit from this farce will be him).

Vinklevii bros. this time are going to laugh louder at the end.
Sweet revenge.

 Huh
You really think their "Spedn" app will win the race against a facebook coin? You're serious?  Huh
No, I mean they are massively long BTC: so I have no doubt who's going to win in 10 years time between BTC and Libra.

Considering BTC is not a "stablecoin" there is no competition and they cannot even be compared.

It will be telling to see how it compares to the other stablecoins in 10 years though.

It's back, finally:

Trollbox is back!

https://medium.com/circle-trader/trollbox-is-back-a458e3ec58df

Time to rejoin Polo?

P.S. It seems like Circle literally destroyed Polo. The 24-hour trading volume of the whole platform is only 2k BTC. It used to be above 10k BTC when Circle acquired it. Roll Eyes
