What's even worse than that, is being able to do wonderful and meaningful things, but wasting your time and wealth pursuing pointless tasks. Risto Pietila's story is a good example.

What happened to Risto in the end? I had a few exchanges with him in the past, but years ago now. I know he was a troubled soul but what was  the story?

Elwar is a likable guy, but I've never understood his obsession with seasteading. I guess that, when you become super-rich, something screws up in your head and you become obsessed with pointless, impossible tasks. Risto Pietila comes to mind. It's sad, really.

Trying to go against nature is a futile, pointless task, as is trying to go against the establishment without a feasible plan. Taking the law on your hands and setting up a seastead in the middle of the ocean is madness and delusion combined.

IMHO.

What's worse is having the chance to do something extraordinary but being too afraid to take it.

What's even worse than that, is being able to do wonderful and meaningful things, but wasting your time and wealth pursuing pointless tasks. Risto Pietila's story is a good example.

Possibly, but Elwar has a vision, and I say its better to spend your time on the planet pursuing that than ways to re-invest your already substantial wealth. Breakthroughs are made by giving new ideas a go, ala Bitcoin in our mutual instance. That kind of spirit should be encouraged.

Also, all that doesn't really apply to Risto, RIP. Risto was, AFAIK, born wealthy and suffered from mental illness. He was very grandiose and by all means his lifestyle should not be emulated.

Risto just kind of flailed about, driven by a combination of bipolar disorder, narcissism and a bit of histrionic personality disorder, whereas Elwar is on an actionable mission.

Plus, you'll never catch Elwar posing for a photo op next to a classic car, much less painted in pink. (Again, RIP Risto)

He should probably do that though for the LOLs.

I hope you are enoying the bull run and the current streak

Before jump into the content, I hope you are doing well and enjoying the crazy bull run of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is volatile and it rises or falls in small or big changes over time. This thread is published to give information about Bitcoin streaks. The term of streak is familiar with gamblers but for non-gamblers and non-native English speakers, you might confuse about it. Let's me explain a bit.

Streak means something happen in-a-row, continuously. It can be win / loss, rise/ fall. The alternative term can be spell. It is a language term and you can choose one that fits you, just understand the meaning of streak I use here.

Definitions
  • Rise streaks: a streak when % change between close price and open price is Positive (>0) for at least 5 days in-a-row.
  • Fall streaks: a streak when % change between close price and open price is Negative (<0) for at least 5 days in-a-row.
  • Generally, streaks here are 5+-days streaks (positive or negative).

We are enjoying the crazy bull run so let's get started with Rise streaks.

Fall Streaks

2014 is the most terrible years according to total fall streaks (9). For rest years, there is no significant difference when the values range from 3 to 1. If you notice, total fall streaks each year (in bull or bear market, tend to be less than total Rise streaks). Amazing right?

Guys, I noticed this on the Willy Woo Charts:
When the REALIZED PRICE and VWAP PRICE lines start to narrow, we always touch the  TOP!
Look at This...

Elwar's story should make us all sad and wary.

This is what you get for trying to cut out an autonomous slice of world without influence from TPTB.

What didn't the insurance companies want to insure? A solid ship? I don't think so. It would be quite lucrative to insure it.

The companies bailed out because they see Elwar's dream for what it is: a revolutionary project, maybe still in its infancy, OK, maybe with several improvements and adjustments to be implemented through experience, OK, but a revolutionary project with full potential to piss off TPTB big time. See what happened in Thailand. Imagine what could happen if the next to get pissed off is Uncle Sam or the PRC.

Who in their right mind would want to insure anything against those stakes, and against those potential adversaries?

Who would have insured Ernesto Guevara, or Dr. King - or Jesus Christ, for that matter? We know how they ended eventually.

(Disclaimer: not a follower of Guevara or King or Christ, but still...)

EDIT - Not implying any comparison between Elwar and those historically important people, but the Satoshi is a revolutionary "land". A small revolution, for the time being, but atypical in that it's led by a grass roots community which - and here's the unusual part - is wealthy. Small but dangerous. Better nip in the bud.

Talking about all ahead one third, have you heard that Elwars cruise ship Satoshi is getting scraped?
They couldn't get insurance.

Screw insurance and screw laws.. Just do it with no insurance and flip them all off..
I thought the whole point of being in international waters was not having to obey anyone’s laws?
Fire the thing up and make a run for it out of territorial waters and stay out there.. Have your supplies brought out..

Get the boat offshore of the USA so if you get raided by a government it will be the US government and you won’t just get killed..

Did you try calling some small governments and asking if you can just post your ship up in their waters?
Ring up Cuba and hati and just ask them how much BTC they want for a parking spot in their waters and for them to just leave you the fuck alone..
Gotta be some small corrupt government out there that will let you buck the system..
Maybe even India.. just don’t turn it in to the scrapyard and putt around with it there until they force you to stop..

Surely, your situation does not seem enviable, VB.

Its not that easy, he would have to request compensation equivalent to the price of bitcoin on January 1 2021 for the fiat loaned, but that is impossible..., at the moment I only have the agreement for the money to be returned at the end of this month, we are on the dec-20 and the bag is empty.
(I will have to start with a less aggressive but constant strategy, in case I can take advantage of some lower prices.)

Thx for reminding me how dumb I am. Wink

Its not what happens to you that defines you. Its what you do next!

Good luck sir.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still consolidating just a smidgen higher than yesterday and the day before... currently $23565USD/$30135CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Let's keep this slow controlled rise going... not too fast.

Go Bitcoin go.

have you heard that Elwars cruise ship Satoshi is getting scrapped?

Is anyone really surprised?

Of all the mainstream financial rackets, insurance companies perhaps are the worst.

They hate Bitcoin.

I don’t have a lot of coins so I really need $100k+ for it to matter in a life changing way..

I’m pretty comfy being poor though.. Have been poor all my life..
I am very self sufficient so I can do, enjoy, and have a lot while spending very little..
I don’t need as much $$ because I don’t need to hire everyone else to do things for me.. I can do most everything on my own..

My dream is to have a long vacation in a sailboat around the world..
I don’t need a massive expensive boat and can do all the maintenance work myself.. So like $50k for a boat buy/maintenance budget and basically money for food/expenses to last atleast a few years..
If god is kind he will smite me down in a hurricane before I run out of food money so I never have to go back to the rat race..

Nah if god is kind you will find a sinking boat rescue a BTC billionaire that gives you two old unopened 50 coin blocks.
100 btc at 23 k is 2.3 million

100 btc at 100k is 10 million since you will be crusing when coin is 100k + it will be over 10 million in value.

There is an old beer commerical with the theme it does not get better than this.

To make the gift of 100btc to you better BTC doubles by the time you get back on shore.

Making the 10 mil in coin worth 20 mil.

Talking about all ahead one third, have you heard that Elwars cruise ship Satoshi is getting scraped?
They couldn't get insurance.

IMHO.
