The reason why that story makes me sad and wary is because it shows the level of opposition "freedom" projects can expect to face.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Still consolidating just a smidgen higher than yesterday and the day before... currently $23565USD/$30135CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Let's keep this slow controlled rise going... not too fast. Go Bitcoin go. Is anyone really surprised? Of all the mainstream financial rackets, insurance companies perhaps are the worst. They hate Bitcoin. Thank you for correcting my spelling error (that I just noticed).

Possibly, but Elwar has a vision, and I say its better to spend your time on the planet pursuing that than ways to re-invest your already substantial wealth. Breakthroughs are made by giving new ideas a go, ala Bitcoin in our mutual instance. That kind of spirit should be encouraged.
I mean he's got a great idea of truly independent new state or community but I still think he chose a wrong way to reach his goal. It should be much easier to bribe some corrupt officials of some 3rd world microstate to let them use their land for your needs. Then declare autonomy and independence etc...

I don’t have a lot of coins so I really need $100k+ for it to matter in a life changing way..
I’m pretty comfy being poor though.. Have been poor all my life.. I am very self sufficient so I can do, enjoy, and have a lot while spending very little.. I don’t need as much $$ because I don’t need to hire everyone else to do things for me.. I can do most everything on my own..
My dream is to have a long vacation in a sailboat around the world.. I don’t need a massive expensive boat and can do all the maintenance work myself.. So like $50k for a boat buy/maintenance budget and basically money for food/expenses to last atleast a few years.. If god is kind he will smite me down in a hurricane before I run out of food money so I never have to go back to the rat race..
I also don't have the many bitcoins to substantially change my life @$100k, but i don't care. Here's why: See, i don't even want to get filthy rich with my few bitcoins, it's enough for me if a fraction of it buy me a new van. The main part of my "stash" is being fully invested into the next great project: The future of my kids. Each of them gets an equal share in the future. Not in the form of fiat, the will get a paper wallet. If only one of the four will probably get filthy rich by the help of these coins, i will be more than just satisfied. Most richies only buy things. Things can't make you happy. If you know you have bought a few coins at the low price your kids will never have a chance to see again, and that you were giving your fiat to compensate this for them, my friend, i can tell you it already makes me happy today, at only a tad below $24k! Life is more about what you are able to give, not what you may or may not get, imo.
Guess what makes you more happy... Look at Bawb (and Rick). Use your corn to give, not to take. The only way to make you happy.

Elwar is a likable guy, but I've never understood his obsession with seasteading. I guess that, when you become super-rich, something screws up in your head and you become obsessed with pointless, impossible tasks. Risto Pietila comes to mind. It's sad, really. Trying to go against nature is a futile, pointless task, as is trying to go against the establishment without a feasible plan. Taking the law on your hands and setting up a seastead in the middle of the ocean is madness and delusion combined. IMHO. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Rose_IslandThere is many such places: Ahkzivland: The Peaceful Middle Eastern Micro-nation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so0VSVCkShQBir Tawil https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/bir-tawil-1Republic of Saugeais https://www.meridian.net/france/2017/1/4/14166744/saugeais-micronation-franceRepublic of Cascadia https://zapatopi.net/cascadia/and what a surprise Liberland https://liberland.org/en/news.... The same officials that you bribe will screw you over immediately as the going gets tough. That's entirely possible, that's why you'll need some skills: like for example you have to be a good negotiator, great at politics (read: lying) etc.. you'll also most probably need a bunch of good friends who share similar views. Then you have much greater chance to succeed than in a seapod floating in the middle of nowhere.

Elon Musk tweet discussion How such a progressive, futuristic person such as Elon Musk could *not yet* be onboard with Bitcoin treasuries full tilt is completely beyond me. I could say the same for such companies as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc. Methinks that powerful people have kept them dissuaded for years now.

Nice pic, but here is my "scientific rebuttal". On a flat surface, the horizon is 3.1 miles away. On a 100ft hill, the horizon is 12.2mi away. Let's say, the horizon is 10mi away, but i can see another citadel in any direction, therefore, Citadels are in approximately 10mi grid, which means roughly 4 citadels in 100 sq miles, which could mean about 380000X4=1520000 citadels in US size area, give or take, more or less the same for China and Canada, in Russia-up to 2.62 mil "citadels". Therefore, the number of citadels approximates the number of btc at this density Conclusion: either much less citadels OR at each citadel top is the "Emperor" with less than 1 btc.

A fast spreading strain of Covid-19 has emerged in England, this mutation is 70% more transmissible.
London and South East in tier 4 lockdown.
Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Czechia, France, Ireland, Austria and Germany suspending flights and train arrivals from England.
This is not looking good, fingers crossed if it does not effect vaccine effectioness.

More transmissable!=more deadly The virus evolutionary "success" is in propagation, therefore it is always optimizing for transmission vs "killing" "you got 'them masks...I'll show you.."...13 freaking mutations-that's a long branch. In the other news...Elon...lol.

The natives are too restless! There are too many damn protests in London! Release the new strain. According to the Universitie's of Cambridge, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Oxford, Imperial College London, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cardiff University and MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research, this new strain is real. Fck those protesters they should be locked up until this is over. Conclusion: We report a rapidly growing lineage in the UK associated with an unexpectedly large number of genetic changes including in the receptor-binding domain and associated with the furin cleavage site. Given (i) the experimentally-predicted and plausible phenotypic consequences of some of these mutations, (ii) their unknown effects when present in combination, and (iii) the high growth rate of B.1.1.7 in the UK, this novel lineage requires urgent laboratory characterisation and enhanced genomic surveillance worldwide. https://virological.org/t/preliminary-genomic-characterisation-of-an-emergent-sars-cov-2-lineage-in-the-uk-defined-by-a-novel-set-of-spike-mutations/563
