I wish I had or have bought more coins, but in Hindsight I could have sold or never have kept coins at all..
I’m probably lucky enough just to have what I have in coins considering the real life struggles I have been through where selling coins was probably the right/responsible decision but I did not..
I’ve lived poor AF but never sold my coins to fix my situation..
Even now I still live lower middle class but have been able to get myself into a good enough income to get catching up..

Is refusing to sell coin to pay off debt basically the same as going into debt to buy coin?
Kinda the thought process I have been struggling with..

It's a similar idea.. to attempt to weigh the cost of money to decide where to apportion the money..

It does sound to me that you might be gambling a bit much with what you have done historically, so you might want to consider some kind of a compromise position rather than going all in one direction or another...

I am really glad that it has paid off pretty damned well for you.. and surely it is not an easy choice for a lot of us because there can be quite a few uncertainties in any decision to overallocate in the direction of bitcoin.. but feels good when it pays off.. but should feel even better if the level of overallocation is not going to break you if the market ends up moving against you in the future.

The man in my avatar is my uncle JP, who died a few days ago. He was exactly 40 years older than me. I was quite close to him and even lived with him when I was studying in Paris. He wasn't a rich man but had enough money to help my parents and his other siblings buy real estate, he bought a house for my grandparents, helped my brother and me, too. During the last years of his life he could pay for 2 women to take care of him full time (Parkinson's). He also bought a new, more practical house, cash. Yet to me he didn't live a good life. He had real trouble spending money (outside of real estate) and would wear some clothes you could swear he found in the trash. This due to the fact my grandfather went bankrupt in the 50's and lost everything, it traumatized him. He never settled with a woman, and never travelled, we all tried to bring him with us when travelling but he always had an excuse to not come.

For this new year, let's keep in mind that money isn't everything, living a good life should be the goal.

Money gives options.. that's for sure...

I never strived to get rich.. but then all of a sudden bitcoin came along, and increased whatever level of richie that I had.. and many of us holders can tell a similar story in terms of maybe we were already doing o.k., but bitcoin provided a kind of icing on the cake to provide even more options than what we had previously.

that address is not ON the ledger, it is on the blockchain, hence anybody can see it.
the fact that you never got dust before means nothing.

Ledger uses "accounts" which have different addresses (all derived from the same seed). But if you are completely sure it is only one ADDRESS (not an account) where all your BTC is and that is where the dust was sent... then simply ignore, you are just $0.19 richer.

This is what happened on kraken BTC/EUR earlier today. It was either a n00b fat finger, or kraken's server malfunctioning (again). This is a trading feat which is the typical n00b bible in 3 steps:
1. Sell 20% lower than the other exchanges.
2. Rebuy 20% higher.
3. For better results do it regularly on kraken.

right now btc price in USD made a clear new ATH at $34182 but in € it barely reached the ATH from last night. currently sitting at €27000. something does not add up. with the official €/$ exchange rate (1.21) price in € should be at €28000. sending btc to bitstamp and doing some arbitrage rounds would make €1000 profit per turn. i am not doing it since it will fuck up the 1 year hodl period for my coins (tax excempt when hodling btc for more than 12 months) price has risen $4000 in 24 hrs but only €2800. i guess USD is tanking but since it is sunday not officially traded?

Let's try to stay focused, at least and don't be using nonsense ambiguous terms in this thread.. because if we are mentioning any coins besides bitcoin in this thread, it should be for the purpose of denigrating them rather than trying to provide some kind of platform for them or to even imply that they might have some kind of equivalence to bitcoin - besides riding off of bitcoin's good will and security. 

Yeah it’ll probably retrace, but the important part is that it cleared the books/cleared a path to where it is now..
The higher the path it clears the better.. I hope it spikes and clears the books to infinity even if it dumps back to 25k..

Wipes all those old sell orders out of the books, so if/when it goes back down, it only needs to break the NEW orders to get back there..

Sure, upwards buying pressure seems to be continuing and ongoing in bitcoin.. and sure it is likely going to continue, until it stops.. I don't proclaim to have any kind of meaningful clue concerning when it might run out of steam.. and surely we have known since about $12k in early October that it could correct BIG and long at any time, and it really has not.. except for a few relatively minor corrections along the way since September/October.

It actually went multiple times between €22k and €25k, whilst around $31k on Bitstamp.

Yeah but, ya' know, it's all relative. Just imagine how Loaded feels.

Sure, it is relative to consider how BIG the numbers can be in terms of how much is being made in a very short time, and sometimes it will end up going down faster than it had gone up.

I am in the same boat in terms of what some guys (and perhaps gal) are feeling in terms of the strict quantity being made in a short time whether we are measuring hours or days or weeks as being higher than it ever has been, and I was kind of chilling even when we were losing value in the $10ks . and sure even though many of us (including yours truly) had been feeling decently nervous during our correction of one or two days from about $7,500 down to $3,850... So even if we have similar quantities of BTC as we had at those lower prices, we are likely getting some feelings of higher assurances that 4 digits is becoming quite likely not to be reached again, and even sub $20k is starting to feel like it might be a bit of a stretch to have that level of a plunge, in these times.. down to $20k would be about a 42% plunge given our current local top - as I type - of $34,719.

Onwards and upwards we go!

I try NOT to be rigid about any of these kinds of matters but there tends to be considerable value in making a plan and then attempting to stick with such plan, but not so rigid as to having to stick with it because we each have discretion over our own funds and how we manage such funds and we should be able to change or tweak our plans along the way.. without necessarily getting caught in the emotional hype of the moment (including BTC price moves that might start to feel outrageous).

Another thing that I attempt to emphasize is some kind of incrementalism that does not involve selling very much at any given time but be willing to never have the opportunity to buy back with whatever value that you had sold... Sure, if you get lucky, and you are able to buy back at a lower price, fine.. but you should be able to live with the fact that once you sell, you may well not be able to buy back at a lower price.
