Would like to add this quote here from John Oliver’s last night show

“Lies go down easier when you want them to be true”

Oliver didn't like Bitcoin a few years ago. To be fair, he didn't like "crypto" in general and mentioned many other altcoins back then. John said corn wasn't worth $15k. He's right you know, it's worth a lot more now.

That could be NFTs or substitute various ICOs, various shitcoins, various other schemes of the day involving various combinations of the above or some other "innovation" that deceive peeps to invest in crapola (and likely remove them from their bitcoin)...

Why the passive-aggressive NFT hatred here?
NFTs do not interfere with btc "mission" at all.
To think that there will be ONLY bitcoin and nothing else is a little one-dimensional.

That said, most of NFTs would have low value, but some would have a non-zero value.
It's perfect for smaller groups, which are fond of some project.
No different from baseball cards collection.
Again, not to have WO-NFT is a mistake.

EDIT: say, for example, that you reached some high level in a game-make screenshot, converge to NFT, keep/display in your digital collection, sell to people who have vanity.
I remember my son playing Runescape and trading various objects (swords, etc). Basically the same thing, but outside of the game.

He is funny, but someone already bid $35K.
his auction ends on April 1 and I assume that he put up a high enough price that nobody would win.
It would be interesting to see where it ends up trading at.
This NFT actually does have value as "John Cleese making fun of NFTs" NFT.
Paradoxically, he just created value by poking fun at something.
Who knows, maybe he gets it......naaah (he will chicken out by putting up some "crazy" minimal price).

Why the passive-agressive NFT hatred here?

I don't see any passive aggressiveness here.

Members, here, are saying directly that NFTs are a scam.. a bunch of bullshit, smoke and mirrors, another shitcoin, similar bullshit as ICOs, similar bullshit as various other shitcoins,  blah blah blah..

Do you even know the meaning of passive aggressive?

And any way hardly a topic here to talk up any shitcoin project, whether NFTs or the other shit I listed above.

NFTs do not interfere with btc "mission" at all.

You believe that removing peeps from their bitcoin, distracting them from the value of bitcoin and/or trying to present bullshit, such as NFTs as if they have any value is NOT interfering with BTC?  Whether it BTC has a mission, that might be another question.

To think that there will be ONLY bitcoin and nothing else is a little one-demensional.

ONLY you are saying that.. or trying to ascribe such ideas to peeps here in order to create a strawman, no?

That said, most of NFTs would have low value, but some would have a non-zero value.

I am glad that you are attempting to be objective about the matter.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

 Tongue Tongue

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

It's perfect for smaller groups, which are fond of some project.

Glad that you are so excited about "perfect" aspects of this.. so why don't you take your upbeat discussion to some other thread rather than diluting this thread with your seemingly upbeatedness about aspects of scam projects.

No different from baseball cards collection.

Seems to be differences... but no need to get into rebutting those false equivalence (in order to up talk NFTs) here.

Again, not to have WO-NFT is a mistake.

Why get involved in scammenings.. sure create another thread or whatever, but seems to be a distraction to get into that bullshit including attempts to monetize WO contributions, here.... sure nothing is stopping someone from attempting to NFT this thread or hats or various other bullshit. and sure, who is going to be first?  You better get your ass out there and do it before someone else does.... that is part of the idea behind the bullshit and scam of  the whole matter.. and it is not pegged to anything like bitcoin.,. which an actual bitcoin is.. so bitcoin is probably the only NFT that actually matters in terms of NOT being very subjected to shenanigans..

Ever heard of proof of work?  Well, king daddy has that thingie, which is unparalleled to any other system.. an invention .. and a paradigm shifting invention at that.. and put into practice in front of our very eyes for peeps ready, willing and able to see it and to distinguish it from distraction imitation wanna-bes (or would snake oil salesmen be a better term?).

<snipped a bunch of nonsensical remarks>

I did not bring the subject-it was in Elwar, vroom, whoever else posts.
Besides, WO (according to bitcointalk rules-check them out) could have posts OFF topic (by design).

However, that said, it is a little strange that your bowel movements are ON topic here, but some digital developments are not.

I have offically joined the ranks of retired WO gentleman. Working just seems kinda pointless

I think this might be becoming a thing... my last day is April 2nd..  officially retiring early.  Sold a smallish chunk to diversify so that if we have an 80% crash, I can ride it out without selling the dip... but yeah.. mostly the same plan.   good feelings Smiley

8+ years later I'm retired with a close to double-digit $million fortune. What an incredible experience it's been.

Congratulations to all of you.

This could be an interesting poll -- who of us has retired thanks to bitcoin?
It's not my time......yet! too small of a fish.

Don't want to get into any of your specifics or your OPsec, but $50 per week for 7 years would have put relatively "small fish(es)" into a decent place... - nearly 22 bitcoin and a value of nearly $1.3 million - with "ONLY" about a $18.5k investment spread over 7 years.

I wish I'd have been that consistent dear JJG  Roll Eyes
