1d and 4h charts:

(see above)

and there you have the fractal nature of price... it's almost unbelievable, isn't it?

Yeah... I opened the chart with 4h candles and saw it immediately, it was so obvious! "Hey, I know this pattern!"

What will happen to btc once ltc explodes?

Define explodes.   LTC at $25?  $40?  $100?  $1000? and when?  day, week, month, 6 months, 6 years?

Personally, I doubt LTC will grow much beyond BTC... maybe we will get to .1BTC... but otherwise somewhat parallel to BTC... and probably losing value over time to other alts...

If lots of idiots like me bought at the top of the last ATH, it probably won't go much higher than that.
I'm saying that because I will be selling as soon as I can make a profit and believe I won't be the only one to do so.
That's of course my (very) short term position. I'll be ready to buy back in the next dip.

yes, it's quite striking. making predictions based on fractal analysis is a little trickier though, because the structure is the same but the detail is still stochastic.

True but most people don't know that, or even why x amount of confirms are necessary in the first place.

That may be the case, but it would be very weak ground for a value evaluation.

More resistant I guess is the key word. They have taken longer to develop than the SHA256 ASICs.

I would be surprised if that was the case. We don't know how long the SHA ASICs were in development, but the hard problem is for the economics to make sense. Anyone who can write Verilog can design one for you, but you need to order tens of thousands in a single run. That requires some serious cash. (You also have to be very very sure it actually works, the heat envelope works in your construction etc.)

The reality is that LTC really doesn't offer anything that BTC doesn't. A proof-of-work based cryptocurrency needs to look a lot like BTC. I think the main reason people buy into LTC is speculation, which so far but there will be a limit how close to Bitcoin's value it can get.

I think ltc/btc = 0.35 0.035 is a reasonable short-term target, however "explosions" make me nervous...

Don't think so, 0.035-0.04 max. Huobi adding it doesn't really mean a lot, BTC-e had huge volume on last big LTC pump, Huobi was/is not needed there when there is enough money around. And there is enough money around only when Bitcoin is bubbling and new players are entering the crypto world.

It's just another news driven pump we've seen zillion times in bitcoin, litecoin and many other altcoins.

what you seem to be ignoring is the ASIC effect Smiley  ASICs has been hitting the network for a couple of weeks now, the diff.factor is going insane, it is going up 5-10% every 3 days, quote me on that Smiley

oh and did you hear about Gocoin.com ? really exciting, oh the Devs are working so hard on other projects as well

and least and not last, I am working on a project for Litecoin as well, much fun such wow very money hahahah

So as I mentioned, I'm thinking of dropping a volatility index in with ChartBuddy's posts. It's fairly simple so far, it is the base 10 log off the percentage of high-low against closing price ( log(100*(high-low)/price ). This would only be once per day at 3pm (when the NY market closes). Here is a sample with a few arbitrary currencies (price, high, low, index). Prices are from Bitstamp. Thoughts?

Code:
GBPUSD 1.6573 1.6648 1.6547 -0.215079756574918
EURUSD 1.3915 1.3943 1.3880 -0.344142661216467
JPYUSD 0.0099 0.0099 0.0098 0.00436480540245543
UAHUSD 0.1024 0.1041 0.1024 0.22014896473846
BTCUSD 612.72 612.72 591.13 0.546990585818375

Actually, I won't sell. I'll just put a trailing stop if we go past the ATH, that way I won't have to worry about explosions or anything.
