"Grayscale's amended S-3 gives a nice little background on the key sticking point for in-kind creation/redemption. The SEC promulgated rulemaking for digital asset safekeeping. Despite the fact that BDs and exchanges apparently believe they could comply with the rule and offer in-kind, the SEC will refuse to approve amendments to exchange rules that would allow this because they're not convinced that it is possible to comply with their rules. And despite the SEC being tasked with investor protection, this results in..... less protection for investors via a wonderful new novel product. Hey, but at least you get a new risk factor protecting you by informing you that, despite all other spot commodity ETFs operating with in-kind models, this must be done in a novel way via cash and who knows if that will work!

I've never seen such dripping disdain for the SEC as I've seen in the disclosures from these issuers.

SEC wants to firewall off digital assets from the tradfi ecosystem as much as possible. If BDs are making money working with these assets, then its harder for the SEC to push draconian rules. Is my guess."

I agree and the same thing with you. If people feel that there is a lack of security then most of the time people will not do any kind of investment there, that is because money has an importance to people which is much more important to an individual.

I heard good things about Niacin (and Glutamin), and about 8 months ago, I was trying to stimulate a discussion on the topic by creating a thread, but I did not stimulate too much of such conversation, and I have been taking those as supplements since starting that thread, yet I am not sure if I feel any results from adding those two to my regime.  I do already take vitamin C and I started taking Zinc recently too.. and gosh I hate to admit all of the supplements that I added recently, so it is not really clear if there are abilities to be scientific if too many are added.. and then a kind of wondering whether any of them are helping anything.

@JayJuanGee I like this topic very much and had a look at the thread you opened about it. It would be nice if you continued the discussion in your thread and I would really like to contribute every now and then as I think it's very interesting and important.
I have some experience to share there. May I ask you guys to keep that in JJG's thread? That would be awesome as the info is gathered in one place and I think it would benefit anyone who is interested or wants to chime in.

~snip~
Nice video. It's definitely coming. There will always be noise (read: COVID, Ukraine, FTX, etc.) that causes deviations from the trend, but the trend is there, and always has been. I think we will see 6 digits by 2025. Exact figures like $250,000 are fun and generate clicks, but don't make much practical sense. Bitcoin-friendly banks and ETFs are a necessary "evil" in the path of Bitcoin adoption. It is naive to expect a total collapse of the traditional system, and not everyone can be their own bank. It will not collapse, it will adapt, and it is adapting.

Looking forward to an exciting new year!

They are definitely a necessary evil, no matter how much you look at such things positively, the fact is that banks, funds and most governments of the world do not see anything positive in Bitcoin other than a way to profit. That's why we see that they don't mind too much when someone trades with Bitcoin, but it really bothers them when someone uses it as a means of payment. As far as I know, in Turkey and Thailand, Bitcoin is banned as a means of payment, but trading is allowed, and I wonder if some other countries will perhaps follow that example.

I also agree that Bitcoin currently does not have the power to seriously disrupt traditional financial systems that have been created for hundreds of years and that people trust to the greatest extent. Bitcoin is more for those looking for an alternative, although human greed and stupidity always find a way to disrupt that. Of course I'm referring to ordinals and all similar nonsense that increase the prices of on-chain transactions and push people even more away from using BTC as a currency.

[...]

Sounds like classic flu, yep. Shit can be tedious, but you can speed recovery up with NAC (2x500mg/d) and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C, works as NAC metabolism catalyzer).
I gave my last capsules of NAC to a friend of my father in law (60+ yo) after a two week flu episode, which had a holiday booked nine days later. He fully recovered before packing his suitcase. I only had NAC/AA once, after Covid (Omicron B1) and it helped much with shortbreathedness. Athletes are using it to increase O2 absorption of the lungs before training for events. One can take it for a month safely, but i never read of problems from those who took it longer.

[...]

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. Never heard of NAC, had to Google it, interesting, will keep that in mind. Was already taking vitamin C (1000 mg) daily as a precaution.

I had kind of glossed over the NAC part too, but then it looks like it could be a good supplement to keep in mind.. .and with supplements, sometimes it can be difficult to know if they are doing anything (such as helping with anything), but I did like the idea of mucus clearing in one of the descriptions that I read.

>>>>"NAC can help prevent side effects caused by drug reactions and toxic chemicals, and helps break down mucus in the body. It seems to have benefits in treating some respiratory conditions, such as bronchitis and COPD."<<<<<

NAC is actually a bit of a wonder substance really.  Emergency departments keep it on hand to counteract liver poisoning (like from Tylenol).  And it can help if you drink a little too much too to protect the liver.  Anyway... many supplements are snake oil.  Not this one.  It also likely has some benefit for people exposed (one way or the other) to the spike protein of C-19.

OT, I know, sorry for the all-medical post spree...

Thanks for the comments about NAC. Never heard of it prior to OOM mentioning it. Will have to get some. I'm not generally a fan of supplements, but one thing I can say from personal experience is about magnesium. A few months ago I started taking it daily, and I now sleep much better than before. I have vivid, movie-like dreams almost every night, it's pretty amazing. Like, I'm going to bed with an anticipation of the dream I'm going to have. The only supplements I take are magnesium (400 mg/day), zinc (22 mg/day), and vitamin C (1000 mg/day). The cocktail was suggested by a trusted doctor friend. I don't know if it's just the magnesium or the combined effect re. the dreams...

BTW, I was tested today and it turns out I have COVID-19... Already lost sense of smell and partial sense of taste (basically food tastes weird). Fever has completely subsided. Nose still runny (NAC could help here?). Positive line on test was deep red (high viral load). On top of all that, Bitcoin is ant-dipping again. What a great gift for Christmas & the New Year! Counting on the upcoming ETF thing...

Take good care guys. Prep your bodies and your spirits for the upcoming stratospheric pump.  Cheesy

Surprise, surprise...  Sad
NAC is said to support Sars-cov-2 spike protein breakdown, too.
Generally, higher initial viral load, more intense symptoms.

It got me too, but i'm Covid negative, so it's one of the common viruses that i caught. I also hit my knee pretty hard yesterday, so i'm hobbling around a bit. Last but not least, on Christmas Eve i cut myself with a tin-can lid, a pretty deep gaping cut. The flesh was colored like tuna sushi once bleeding stopped, i was kind of impressed. Between the left thumb and index finger, where the skin is moving all the time, i should have got two stitches, but i didn't want to catch a flu or covid at the hospital, which was overloaded with symptomatic patients already, as usual on this special date and the days after. Good docs are on holiday, and i didn't want another ugly scar.
Soooo, what to do? I decided to use McGyver's stitching (Superglue) and tape my thumb to the index finger for a couple of days, and as far as i can judge today, it worked (did this two times before already, but this one was the largest wound, yet).
Next day: Runny nose. Perfect timing Roll Eyes

Which type of Magnesium and Zinc do you take? With Mg, there are several, each with other benefits. I, personally take Mg-Glycinate (bound to L-Glycin) 2x375mg/d, which is fine to elevate body Magnesium levels, because you can take higher amounts without softening stool too much, like when using Mg-Citrate or -Carbonate. The Citrates give me the shits at about 300mg a dose and worsen my fructose malabsorption, so i also take Zinc-Glycinate (25mg/d), had great results with Picolinate too, but it's expensive.
Only thing to watch is your copper level, but if you take Zn before going to sleep, it should be fine, because the copper can be absorbed all day through other food. I'm sensitive to copper, which gives me zinc-definiency symptoms if i take Cu as a supplement, or eat too much food rich in copper.

You can't enjoy Bitcoin much if you are not feeling healthy, so the health topics are at least a bit related and not completely off-topic here.
But this is just uhm... my opinion, man  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Get well quickly, brother.

EDIT:
@JJG: Maybe you remember my past with chronic fatigue, this was when pharma couldn't help and i had to dive into biochemistry literature to find promising supplements. This way i learned which ones were actually effective and how they interact. There are some overrated (remember the B12 hype?), some snake-oilish ones, but a few are very effective when dosed and absorbed properly. All the B-Vitamins are cross-dependent in metabolism, it's rarely the case to successfully address a deficit without causing another one in the Group of B-Vitamins. You should probably take B6 and B1 in about double RDA, four hours apart, also to the Niacin to keep things working well over longer times. I'll come back to your Glutamin/Niacin thread later, got some more knowledge and experience to share about these two as well.
