OT: The clearest sign that humanity is doomed?

That every high profile tech company (except for Bitcoin), with stocks that keep rising, has a narrative that is a long term bet against humanity.

That's why the Average Joe investors with a conscious don't understand modern day investing: that in order to make money, you have to bet against humanity's future.

An interesting thought...remember the LoTek of "Johnny Mnemonic" as a reaction.
Some might disagree with environ scenarios depicted (or not), but I thoroughly enjoyed "The Ministry for the Future" sci-fi/utopian fi.
It touches upon societal reactions to our current path.

An overkill for WO posting, haha.

I wouldn't know  Wink
Besides, he just melted away to a better pasture, I hope.

EDIT: i wonder what will happen in the distant future when at least a few prior WO members would have 10 digit $$ value accounts (it will probably starts happening at 0.5-1 mil/per with a crescendo at 5-10 mil/per).

Those who started buying/mining before 2013 should have thousands if they held a majority of btc bought or mined.
2013-2016: 20-200 btc or thereabout.
After 2016- highly variable

Regarding what happens at 10 digits or how "Silicon Valley" show puts it: three commas-those peeps would probably transcend to some realm that is unknowable until you reach the status.
Most people say that at 10 digits the main "thing" that changes is the access..to pretty much anything.

This is a cool talking point and I’m glad that he’s making waves so Bitcoiners can take notice, but his statement sort of showed that he has no idea what we want. We don’t want America to take over and control Bitcoin, we just want to be able to participate fairly with everyone else. We want to fix the money, not control it (except for Blockstream, they want control).

Huh? I see them rn  Cheesy

Seriously, though, the prior cycle had a unhappy distinction to go below the penultimate cycle (2017) high, so by that token, sometime in the future, we very well might have $54K price or thereabout (in 2026-2027?), which, incidentally, would suggest a peak of about $216K beforehand (2025?).

I used bank loans for my appartment, computer and new car (which I will negotiate soon). I used some relatively small percentage of my stash for the initial payment and  possibly some more in case my salary is not enough for the expenses in  the coming years. Besides, the Bitcoins spent for my health,  real estate, car and computer are not wasted. This is the main purpose of having Bitcoins, isn't it? I had to get this computer mainy for scientific calculations with  heavy usage of cpu, ram and gpu. But also for entertainment like gaming, music, video, etc.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
Intel Core i9-14900KS
ASRock Phantom Gaming Z790 Nova WiFi
128GB T-FORCE DELTA RGB DDR5
1200W FSP Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
2TB Samsung 990 Pro Windows volume
4TB Samsung 990 Pro Data
4TB Samsung 990 Pro Ubuntu volume

(Still a Mac guy for everything else. Just have the one PC for gaming)

Having too much fun on the ranch, lately. We've had terrible rains so far this season, and our partner/neighbor lost two fields of hay because we couldn't harvest it due to not having 14 days of no rain yet, this season. The worst flooding I have ever seen. Crazy.

Rick's honey crop is going to be miserable this year Sad The poor little dudes couldn't get out and forage very much 'cuz of all the rain keeping the pollen wet. Really feel bad for 'em. Expanded from 3 hives last year to 7 hives this year, only to have one of the wettest seasons on record. Might have to consolidate some hives end of season.

Playing with various John Deere equipment, and learning to operate them well, is incredibly fun.

Also... Helldivers 2 on PC.

Life is good. I cannot complain.

PS: Oh, also, rescued a 8 week old orange boy-kitten from the middle of a country highway heading up to our ranch. Little dude had just been grazed by a car moments before we came upon him, and was in critical condition. A few thousand fiatbucks later in emergency surgery to repair him, and two weeks in isolation wearing an e-collar.

1.7lbs when we found him. He's now up to 2lbs 10oz and thriving, but is A LOT Of work to take care of/raise. Just began harness/leash training yesterday as he's going to be a travel cat with us, at this stage of life.

The other two established cats hate us, now.

You're a good man.  I believe that act of kindness and compassion qualifies you for a free pass into heaven.
Given the trauma he's gone through and the hate you're getting from the other cats, if you haven't named the little orange dude yet may I suggest "Donald"?
