That makes sense. I did the same as you describe for a short while, but ended up having to do more work with the Show/Hide than simply roll the wheel.
Whatever works for you.
Yup, freedom, the point. No one should force anyone to change their habits, but one can post their opinion. Here's mine, in the context of this discussion:

This user is currently ignored.
Oh. Seems like there is something gone wrong with ignore button. I can read the ignored post of an un-ignored person. Never understood the point of the "ignore" function, if you want an echo chamber with select few people, why join a forum? Man up and read all posts, even your worst antagonists will have bright moments of insight at times. Peace. good grief. people actually read this drivel? It's always fun when some tard that doesn't spend any real time in this thread tries to preach on how we should all behave. I don't even listen to the regulars who post every fucking day if they think they control the royal we. The royal we = very M worthy.

What I'm saying is that I "ignore" posts based on their actual content, not based on who says it. It's easy. Just roll the scroll-wheel. By using the Ignore List, you are characterizing/muting someone for eternity (or until you Un-Ignore them) and will likely miss something interesting they may say.
If someone is spending a lot of time outside of WO and/or there are too many spam posts that they can't handle on-the-fly, then the Ignore List can be of help. From my experience, WO is very easy to browse with an empty Ignore List.
Untrue, you always have the option to hit the show/hide which I do often. How do you know when to hit it? If I have time then I'll check them out and sometimes remove them from the list if they grew up some. Usually decent posts get quoted anyway so your really not missing much except the super trolls crap and yes they eventually dry up and blow away. That makes sense. I did the same as you describe for a short while, but ended up having to do more work with the Show/Hide than simply roll the wheel. Whatever works for you. The problem is that my fingers start to hurt scrolling down the lenghty posts of one particular person, you know who His posts are like philosophical essays of a math student "inventing" new math to mask his lack of knowledge and understadning of a simple formula. And I think this is the main reason for this button to exist. Similarly, gamers often use mouse macros to avoid the repetitive clicks, which can be painful for the hand.

I don't have any ignored ones, in fact, if I did, the way I am, I would definitely be curious to see what the unfortunate person wrote ... for me this button doesn't work. I just scroll down.

The scroll button helps in order that you would not have to actually read all posts (as AlcoHoDL also mentioned several times).
So far... knock on wood... I have never ignored any user..., even though surely there have been some users (apart from the posts of my lil selfie) who I have found their posts to be quite annoying and/or grating.. but I still have not ignored any of them.
Perhaps I am not using my time as effectively as I could?
My own philosophy has largely been to either use the scroll button, or perhaps I might browse over parts of various posts or alternatively, I would not want to ignore some members who are really annoying, since I personally believe sometimes something needs to be said, instead of letting them post in an unchecked manner.. and yeah, maybe I do end up playing around a wee bit too much with disingenuine troll posters (some folks here refer to that as "feeding the trolls").. but I still tend to attempt to say something that I wanted to say, rather than feeling like I am posting without free will.
Well well, I believe every member know how to use the scroll button and also the ignore button. Its a matter of personal decision, if one feel any post/user is not making valuable post or spams he can choose to ignore such User, the truth is why not correct them... Same way they can share something of value later one. No doubt anyone can decide how he chooses to use his hand either for scroll or ignore, but ignoring can still be done when you use your scroll button.

nah, if someone is ignored but interesting enough for others to quote youll see them in that post. at that point reassess.
