Most interesting thing I can say about these new fuel sources is the potential for wider energy use based off car to grid, car to home supply. I believe its part of a wider technological development but of course it needs alot more development and infrastructure support plus the actual batteries need to improve, in theory thats all happening.
Even a luddite like myself, I just bought a 2Kwh LiFePO4 portable power station. Been meaning to pick one up for a few years now, but just hadn't got around to it. Amazing how far the tech has come that I can have this much power in something that only weighs 40 lbs. By my calculations in theory, I could power all of my at-home usage (except the HVAC) for 8-10 hours uninterrupted off of this thing. Enough to get through a longer power outage here, so good enough for now. Will I ever buy an EV? Don't know really, but I can never say never on that front. If I ever do, it will be many more years down the road. In the meantime, I will continue to watch with some curiosity whilst continuing to use the brand new gas truck I just bought. Incidentally, roughly 92-95% of all new cars sold in the U.S. are still ICE, year over year. And I don't see that percentage really changing. So the car manufacturers, including the foreign ones, obviously see pedestrian gasoline consumption sticking around for a VERY long time to come (many many decades more at least).

I feel like I’ve been working on my off-grid setup for years. Now with my Cybertruck I have 123kWh in battery storage with another 13.5kWh available on a Powerwall. I just need to install my Universal charger so my house can access my truck’s battery. This all being charged with a 9.5kWh solar array. I’m guessing I could probably stay off the grid for a week to 10 days during summer and probably infinitely during the cool season with no change in behavior.
